Can we make Windows 10 look like Mac OS?
Sure. Mostly.Head on over to Stardock to grab yourself a copies of their WindowBlinds and Object Dock utilities. The former allows you to “skin” your environment. A number of skins emulate the Mac experience, including a few Classic Mac ones. You can find these skins at WinCustomize.com, Your home for Windows 7 themes, Vista themes, and XP themes, skins, wallpapers, dreamscenes, icons and everything you need to customize your pc. [Quora provides the link, StarDock provides the extremely annoying page title]The latter gives you a dock that is nothing at all like the Mac OS X version, but it certainly looks good. If I were you, I’d stick with the Windows Taskbar. There are alternatives, though. If you aren’t already familiar with it, make AlternativeTo - Crowdsourced software recommendations your best friend. Here’s a link to a WindowsBlinds search:WindowBlinds Alternatives and Similar Software - AlternativeTo.netYou might also want to check out Winstep Nexus Dock and Nexus Ultimate. Just poke around, do a lot of searching, and read a lot of posts. Customizing the appearance of you Windows installation can be a very intensive process with lots of little moving parts and thingmabobs to manage, but if that’s what you want, there’s plenty out there… for now.
Operating system other than windows?
there are many "flavors" of Linux, Ubuntu just happens to be the most user-friendly. also, while most "Windows" applications won't work on Linux OUTRIGHT, usually there are Linux VERSIONS of the Windows software, and they typically run better :) what are you trying to do on Ubuntu? that is, what program were you trying to run? someone here may be able to help you find a program for that for Ubuntu. the ONE thing that WON'T work with Ubuntu, is most games. games for Windows typically require DirectX, which is available ONLY for Windows (thanks to Micro$oft), so if you are wanting a GAMING system, i'm afraid you are stuck bowing down to Microsoft for awhile (at least until the independent gamers/programmers of the world ban together to write a game graphics engine better than DirectX!). however, MANY games are now being written for Linux-based systems, and often they are free! try searching for one on google, with the name of the game PLUS "Linux". you may be surprised...
How is Windows 10, comparing to windows 7?
I would say better, as it is hard to find something that would be better on 7 than on 10. So here's the list:1. Boots much faster2. Syncs data - if you log in with a Microsoft account, your Windows settings will be synced. Also there is OneDrive available out of box if you want to sync your files.3. Has a good browser out of box - Edge performs as good as other top browsers (though it still might get confused if you have huge number of tabs opened for a long time), and unlike Internet explorer. It is also sandboxed by system so potentially offering better security. Of course you can still use whatever you've got used, just you gain one new worthy option.4. Windows Store - every Windows 7 app has a potential to do a malicious thing to the system, and nearly every of them at least somewhat slows down the system. All that things goes away with Windows Store. Unfortunately, right now there is more crap there than useful things, but still there is a decent choice of useful apps, and I guess that even if you find just one app that you will use it's still a great addon to your Windows experience.5. Virtual desktops6. Mail and Calendar available out of box (though fairly basic).
Which is better for a PC with an i3 and 4G of RAM, Windows 7 or Windows 10?
Your hardware is powerful enough to run either OS.I’ve run 10 on PC with a: C2D 3.0G CPU and 2G Ram without any issues.Windows 10 would be the better choice.Since XP, MS has been making large scale changes to each Windows edition. But with 10 onward MS will only be making incremental changes which goes well for stability and usability.7 was released back in 2009. 10 is up-to-date.MS is encouraging the upgrade from 7 to 10.
Why is Windows 10 viewed as Windows 7?
In my copy of Windows 10 there are two options. At the top is the Windows 10 backup which actually uses File History (rather like Shadow Copy from the look of it). Below that is an option to use Windows 7 Backup and Restore. This actually IS the old backup utility from Windows 7 and is the only one that does traditional system backups on Windows 10 at the present time. It is fully compatible with Windows 10 but retains ALL the screen labels from Windows 7. That is almost assuredly why you are seeing this. If you did an in place upgrade preserving your old files and settings in which you already had a defined backup then Windows 10 will automatically do backups using the Windows 7 Backup and Restore utility.
How do i change my Windows XP taskbar?
ok.. There are many ways to do this. 1) You can install a msstyle theme (mostly free) 2) You can use something like WindowsBlinds (will cost you) 3) Use a transformation pack. (Eg: Vista Tranfomation pack) 4) Use Resource Hacker to edit or build a msstyle to create unique theme for urself A good msstyle for start is the Royale theme. Now also available Royale Remixed (my fav). http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/44294818/ Or goto www.wincuztomize.com where u can download theme software (WindowsBlinds) to get awesome looks. U'll have to pay for the full versions. Or u can download resource hacker and open a msstyles (even the default XP luna.msstyle file) from it and change the bitmaps to ur liking. U can edit everythin from this. Startmenu, taskbar, scrollbars and everything. But to apply the theme u have to patch a file in XP, so I advice you to insta the Royale theme or the Royale Remixed themes first coz it automatically patches this file which enables other themes to be installed. http://tc.versiontracker.com/product/redir/lid/937190/ Hope this helps.
How do I open a shell in windows 8.1?
As far as I know, Windows only comes with own shell. You cannot install Linux or any other shell.Although, you can customize it to look or behave like Linux up to certain extent, using certain Skins or theme packs. Like you could customize Windows XP look like Vista using Longhorn Transformation Pack.I have know idea of such packs, which let Win look like Linux. You can search same on Bing/Google.
How do I make Windows 10 look & behave like Windows 7?
Remove app tiles from the Start menuIs it the app tiles you're keen to remove from the Start menu then? If that's the case, right-click any app's tile. When the pop-up menu appears, choose Unpin from Start, and the app's tile slides off the Start menu. Repeat with each tile until they've disappeared from the Start menu's right edge, leaving only the menu behind. That doesn't uninstall the app; it simply removes its tile from the Start menu. If you still want to access an app, click the Start button and click All Apps from the Start menu's bottom left corner. A list of your apps and programs appears, sorted alphabetically. When you're through, drag the Start menu's right edge inward, clearing the empty space formerly held by the apps.If you're still not satisfied, download and install Classic Shell, a program that makes Windows 10's Start menu look almost identical to the Start menu in Windows 7.How to turn off animations in Windows 10This process is really simple. First, you'll need to load up the Windows Settings app. And from there select the Ease of Access icon and you should see this window:Hit Other options at the bottom of the left sidebar -- you can see it in the image above. This is where you can choose whether to play animations or disable them. It's worth bearing in mind this will disable animations across the whole system -- not just the start menu -- but most hardware could really benefit from the fancy animations being switched off for now, particularly if you find them annoying.Other suggestions to make Windows 10 more like Windows 7The most obvious one would be to turn off Cortana. Click in the Search box; when the Notebook pane appears, click the Notebook icon. Click the Settings option, and turn off the checkbox at the top of the Settings pane. You can also remove the Search box. To remove the Search box, right-click the taskbar, choose Search from the pop-up menu, and choose Hidden. (Or, to replace the long Search box with a small icon, choose Show Search Icon, instead.)You can also prevent apps from opening your files. To switch the chores back to your programs, click the Start menu, and choose Settings. When the Settings app appears, click the System icon. Click the Default Apps section, and Windows lists which apps are currently opening your files. Click any app and a drop-down menu appears, letting you choose a different program from the list.ReferencesMaking Windows 10 Work like Windows 7
