While Netflix certainly has a winner on their hands with Sacred Games, it’s imperative to remember that Netflix hasn’t exactly hit a subscriber base that can rival Amazon or Hotstar’s in India. Not just because of the sex scenes or nudity or even the language used, but because of the content that doesn’t hesitate to show some of the ugliest and nastiest episodes of Indian political history and of course the religion angle used to create riots and unleash hell.However Sacred Games doesn’t have a cult following along the lines of House of Cards, Narcos; or even an Orange is the new black, internationally, these shows essentially help put Netflix on the map.Merchandising isn’t just about action figures but T-shirts, lunchboxes, calendars and bedspreads etc too.
