Wireless Devices Randomly Disconnect From Comcast

Comcast/xfinity internet keeps disconnecting?

It only does it when im gaming on my ps3. If I plug in my laptop to browse the web or something no problem. But the minute I start playing a game online itll be fine for a few minutes then the pc cable and send and receive lights go off then flash a few times then its all lit up again. Ive tried resetting the modem using the button in the back and by unplugging everything for a few minutes then plugging it back in.

My internet keep randomly disconnecting!?

It is so frustrating. Please help me I suck with computers so I will give you as many details as I possibly can. My internet will work for a few minutes then disconnect and then do the same thing over and over again. it is really frustrating. i have a router (or a modem?) and I reset it a couple times, but it still does this. I also have comcast if that helps?
Please give me VERY detailed answers as I probably will not understand what some things are.

for example tell me where to click. I know some things but when you start talking about routers.. ugh

Comcast Internet Connection Problems?

There are a couple of things you can check on your own. Number one would be to check your upstream and downstream power levels. Type this in your address bar or click on it, might work. You should see all of your cable modem's info.

If all is okay or you don't connect at all try start>run> type in the run box winipconfig.exe then hit ok.
A box will pop up hit release all and then renew all. If after renew all you have an IP address you're good to go.
To make a long story short your IP and DHCP expire and should automatically renew. Sometimes they don't, your router might be interfering, I have a shortcut on my destop to winipconfig It's like a magic button to get your Comcast up and running.
A great place for advice and research on the topic is

Quite a few pros hang out on the forums and can really help, they know their stuff.
Don't give up on Comcast yet, I don't work for them or anything but for the last few years I've had it I've be really happy.
You think it's bad now you should have been around for ATT@Home later called ATTBBI after a bankruptcy and then Comcast.

Why does my wifi keep disconnecting and reconnecting by itself?

A small percentage of devices have compatibility issues with certain routers. Symptoms include:Not even detecting the network.Detecting the network but refusing to connect.Connecting but only giving a slow connection.Randomly dropping the connection. My laptop suffers from 3 & 4 with my router. I use a WiFi Range Extender to solve the problem. The extender connects to the router’s WiFi, and the laptop connects to the extension WiFi (different network name) from the extender. I am using a TP-Link TL-WA850RE.

What can I do if my WiFi keeps disconnecting?

This problem depends on different conditions. There is 40% chance for continuously disconnecting or limited WiFi connectivity if you are using Windows 10.I don't know why, but this is biggest problem in Windows 10.I am facing the same problem. There are two way to sort out this.Try method 1 for Windows 10 and method 2 for other version of Windows.Method 1. Go to device management and uninstall wifi driver and restart PC. When PC will boot up, it will install WiFi network driver automatically(it's an unbuilt feature in Windows 10). Now try connecting to wifi. You will see internet connected. (But keep in mind this method only works with Windows 10)Method 2. This method works for any version on Windows. Go in Start menu and search CMD or Command Prompt and run it as Administrator. A black window will be pop up on your screen. You need to type further commands : ipconfig/release then press enter, ipconfig/renew then press enter, netsh winsock reset then press enter. Restart your computer and ta-da you have fixed your internet connectivity. 90% issue resloved by this step.If this worked, don’t forget to upvote my answer.if it still doesn't work then contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider). For more info follow by blogTECH SCAMP

Internet goes out randomly?

I need to ask, but is your PS3 connected directly with a wire or is it connected wirelessly too? To me is just sounds like that splitting the signal is just too much. Some people don't know but makes perfect sense that wireless signals do not provide the same speed you should be getting when you are wired in.

Unless you have a very expensive/high quality router, you will loose about 20%-33% of your speed when connected wirelessly. So if you cable signal is already being split into 3 for phone, TV and internet. That is 1/3 normal power for internet. Then taking that 1/3 and reducing that by another 20-33% for just wireless signal.

Intermittent connections is a common problem and often caused by spliting 1 cable line to provide for 3 items. Solutions:

1. You can get an amplifier to put on the cable connection from the wall to the cable. You can either buy one yourself from or have a Charter technician come out (which will cost you money either way).

2. Pay more monthly for a higher internet speed. Obviously with a higher speed, you wont get interrupted anymore, but no matter what speed you are getting, you will always have a certain % of that wireless signal not up to par.

3. Depending on how many cable connections you have in the home, you may need to split up where all the devices are connected (eg. connect the TV to one of the cable outlets, get the phone/internet connected to another) Im sure your phone/internet modem is the same unit that runs both. If that is the only cable connection in the home, then you can do anything.

I hope this helps. I know 1 and 2 require money but 3 is your best option to not pay anything.

From your added responses: Are you saying that you reconnected your internet to another cable outlet to double your speed or you had already just doubled your speed through your provider?

Has this been ongoing since you had charter services? The only downfall to cable services, is that they can slow down due to traffic. More people in the area using the internet, the slower its going to go. I use to run into this with Comcast all the time. They finally fixed it after a month or so.

My MacBook Pro keeps disconnecting from my home WiFi. What could be the issue?

One quick-fix that could work: Change the service order of your networks.Apple puts Bluetooth at the top by default, that could interfere with your Wifi connection. Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> NetworkPress the settings button below on the left side:Choose Set Service Order.. , and drag Bluetooth DUN to the bottom:Press OK and then Apply. If that doesn't help, you could also delete the Wifi connection with the Minus button, and add it again with the Plus button.Next options: Restoring the factory settings on your router, chance the channel on which it broadcasts, or replacing it all-together.
