Internet Service Provider?

Hi, I stay at Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai. I am using Tikona's internet for past 1 year with 750 kbps unlimited speed (6 months pack). My total bill every six months is 4300/-. Internet is good, does not disconnect. However, I now dont want to pay over 700/- per month for the above internet.

My 6 month period is expiring soon and I want to switch to another internet provider as Tickona does not provide 1 year package or it does not cut down on its fees for its 3monthvs6month.

Can anyone name a fast wireless Internet service provider in Guwahati, Assam?

A User: If one indeed is in search for a broadband 'unlimited' connection (both home & office) based anywhere in Guwahati than I would suggest for M-Net Guwahati. To inquire & contact, search Google for “M-Net Guwahati” which would lead anyone to their official website for plans & contact details.Since, the contact numbers change, I therefore first suggest google search which would also lead to their local hosted website. {Remember, if you just google with ‘M-Net’ it would lead to nowhere. 'M-Net Guwahati’ is your ultimate keyword here. However, here's the link leading directly to their current official Guwahati website until if it changes in the near future. {For which, read again or simply google 'M-Net Guwahati’}New Era of Internet ServicesTip: 1) Always ask for unlimited plan.2) Go for Home requirement unless it's an institution for people in hundreds. If it's a place for no more than 15-people than 'Home' should be on the tip of your tongue when inquired between Home & Office need.3) Fast.com & SpeedOf.Me shall give you a better analysis than their demonstration from Speedtest.net4) The top speed is same as the base speed in actual usage of day-to-day environments when opting for Unlimited. (After the initial new subscription, at the most of 3-months)Update: WisTech (link) is the latest entrant to enter specifically for Assam with the best competitive pricing on par with modern-age offering under Digital India Initiative. Offers start with 2mbps at ₹499. Competitive indeed.Update 2: Initially uprising as a promising competition to existing solutions, WisTech is a sheer blatant mistake to be recommended. It's association with CDNs and Plans what set it apart but is just an attractive ruse.Service and Customer Reponse is Poor, Deficient, Arrogant, Incapable with no enthusiasm or intent to be available.

What setup do I need to become a wireless internet service provider in India?

You need following beside ISP license (staying specific to technical requirement not of running an ISP as whole): Designing of your last mile - sure (fixed) wireless is good idea beyond Tier 1 cities and so you would need to do terristian point to point or point to multi-point wireless links. This will connect your end users to your edge cities which serve customers. Designing network to connect your edge cities with your own core network PoP. So say you got 4-5 sites to serve customers, you would have to connect them together / and or to the core PoP where you have bandwidth. Often people put more then 1 path to avoid failures. At your core PoP you would need a core router, core layer 2 aggregation switches, bunch of servers for running key software aspect like recursive DNS, graphing of traffic, AAA/radius server for authentication of customers etc. IP transit - You can either buy IP transit from key providers like Airtel, Tata, Reliance. If they provide cheap deal at your location itself then good else #5You gotta buy IP transit at a nearby large city for lower price and then have point to point circuit to take it to your city. As in general - finished product often costs more, so you can buy raw products (IP transit at core location of telcos) and point to point link to transport it. Transit provider and p2p circuit provider may be same or different depending on whosoever could give you better quality and cheap price. I hope this will help.

Find out my internet service provider...?

Do NOT post your IP address on the internet.

Anyway, you can find out your internet provider by entering your IP address at any "whois" sites. If you don't know your IP address, you can find it by going to the following:

Copy your IP address and then go to http://a2zinternet.net and paste it in the space where it says "Enter host or IP" and hit Enter. Scroll down to near the bottom of the results and it should show your Service provider.

What is the purpose of an internet service provider?

Internet service providers are the companies that arrange "your" connection to the internet and charge you for it; the data equivalent of a telephone, gas or electric company.

ISPs generally have their own buildings / sites with offices and a "server farm" [more formally, a Data Centre], a roomful of computers that store all the customer accounts, emails and web sites etc.

They are linked (likely by fibre optic trunks) to the ADSl/DSL equipment in telephone exchanges or street boxes, that connect into phone lines and cable systems that serve the individual customers.

These are typical banks of computers and network equipment such as in an ISP server farm:

Most staff would be spread between monitoring and maintaining them and handling customer accounts, billing and technical queries.

They do not monitor peoples data as a matter of course; that's actually a criminal offence in most countries.

There is system monitoring in case of faults and possibly some automated content blocking or filtering to comply with legal requirements.

The buildings are usually just.. buildings

(Though some companies now use old underground wartime bunkers for their server farms; it's a more consistent climate and easier to keep cool).

How can I get netgear wireless internet service?

If I understand your question, you are asking how can connect to a wireless router that has the name (aka Service Set IDentifier or SSID) of NETGEAR. I'm guessing you went into the wireless connection wizard or something similar and saw that name in the list. Almost certainly, this is not a public wireless Internet service, but a wireless router that belongs to a neighbor as part of their Internet service. Unless your neighbor wants to sell you access to their connection (which they probably can't legally do), you need to get your own.

When you sign up for cable, DSL or fiber Internet service, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) - Verizon DSL or Comcast Cable for example - will supply a modem and a router. That router generally have a built-in wireless capability as well as a wired ports for nearby computers. You would get your wireless service using that.
