Wireless To Detatched Garage

How can I boost my wifi signal so that it reaches my detached garage?

We've recentely had our garage converted so that my dad can use it as an office. The only issue is that the wifi signal from the house is very weak in the garage as it is not attatched to the house and is some distance away. As it's not connected to the house circuit, I cannot share the connection via plug sockets. Does any one know of an easy way for me to get a stronger connection in the garage? I'm currentely using a wireless -G router, I know I could upgrade the wireless to N but I am reluctant to fork out the cash. The garage does have a phone line.

How to set up WiFi in a garage?

I’m going to move into my grandmother’s garage because she has health issues and I want to be sure someone is nearby at night. I also want WiFi and she doesn’t have that. I want to set up my own WiFi in my own space in her garage. Her garage isn’t attached to the house and I want access to the router without having to go outside and into the main building and back. How can I set up WiFi in a garage without dsl plugs? Is there any way?

Can I set up WiFi in a detached garage?

Sure there are lots of options for that. I did that for my brothers CNC shop and his house. The really fun wireless options are enterprise level, they permit beam shaping as well as limiting the range of the signal (in addition to dynamic node assignment/configuration). They aren’t that expensive but they do require some knowledge of setting up and managing a network.Using a direct linked wireless setup from your shop to your house would eliminate the need for pesky ethernet cable runs.A hardwired connection is more reliable without question but in some instances it’s not practical.Inexpensive methods for bridging the divide of the house and the workshop are stand-alone wifi routers or compact units that can plug into a wall that permit the device to be set up in a bridged mode, sometimes called extenders (each maker has a different name in the software for the mode). The annoying aspect to extenders is; They cut your bandwidth in half each time you add one, They don’t work that well, They often need have all the network information re-added whenever they lose power, each extender has it’s own SSID so you have to change networks manually whenever you move out of it’s coverage range. That cable run is sounding a whole lot better now I bet? :)

My router works with a wired connection, but not the wireless one.?

I use a Linksys WRT54GS v7.2. As the title says, I can connect to the internet through a wired connection, but the wireless network will not work. SSID broadcast is on, with a custom name to avoid confusion and no security or filtering of any kind enabled. Still, my wireless devices cannot find the network.

If I reset the wireless card in my computer, it will sometimes find the network momentarily. I can attempt to connect at this point, which will time out with a "Windows could not connect to Network" error.

I have also updated the firmware, attempted MAC address cloning, varied the broadcast channel (1, 6, 11), made certain there are no other 2.4gHz devices that could cause interference, and have moved the router within five feet of my computer. Nothing has worked and I'm getting desperate. Any suggestions at all are appreciated.

Wireless Network Adapter?

it sounds like when you did the reinstall you lost a driver. the easiest way to verify this is to go into the device manager. how to do this is right click your MY COMPUTER and select properties. then select the device manager. you can then look down the list if you see one with a yellow question mark that is one that has a driver issue. you can then click on this one and tell it to up date drivers. if that doesn't work you can try uninstall the device via the device manager all together. then tell the device manager to refresh. this will make it find the device again see it has no driver and start a fresh search for the driver. if this fails you can get the device manufacturer name and model. go to the manufactures website and down load the driver directly from them. if for what ever reason they don't have the driver and this is rare you can then do a third party search for the driver. but keep in mind the third party is your last option. reason for this is you don't know who is making that driver. in the end this SHOULD fix your problem.

What are the wired zones, except magnetic contacts, that can be connected into auxiliary inputs of wireless transmitters for home alarm systems?

I’ve connected them to a set of NC relay contacts that were connected to another alarm panel bell output. The wireless contact was programmed to a house panel then installed in a detached garage. The garage had a separate panel with a relay connected to the bell output and the wireless contact connected to the relay. If the garage panel went into alarm it tripped the relay setting off the house panel.I’ve also connected them to NC heat detector contacts and a pull apart contact that was mounted to a large sliding shop door.

How do i get internet connection set up in my garage?

I have converted the second floor of the garage into a lounge area, but i'm having issues getting internet to the space. I have time warner cable for my internet to the house, but it is quite far from the garage seeing as it is in the front of the house and the garage is a separate building behind the house. I'm attaching a picture to give a more visual of my situation. Can someone tell me a few options on how to get internet to the garage? The placement of the modem, cables etc has to stay in the house (thats in a basement corner) where it is. I have tried getting my own modem and netgear box there, it tells me i have full bars for internet but opening any internet page or apps that use connection, tells me there is no connection. please help! Feel free to leave links for products or information.
