Wisdom Teeth Extraction - Food Questions.

A few questions about wisdom teeth extraction....?

you could try to brush your teeth, just be really careful when you do it.
try not to disturb the gum area.
i personally was told not to rinse for a whole week.
or spit.
i used ice packs for the first whole week to get rid of the pain.
it really helps.
p.s. {{totally frozen hot dog packages on both sides laying down softly with towels over them helps wonderfully}}
the first day of surgery and hour after i ate a crunchwrap supreme at taco bell because i was soo hungry.
later that afternoon i ate pretzels.
just be sure not to get it in the gums or back in that area.
personally from experience, wait awhile on the crunchy foods.
=]
pizza you could probably eat at the end of the first week.
depending on how your swelling and soreness is.
spicy food really burns!!!!!!
so be really careful!!!!
i don't know if your dr. gave you some gauze, but when you lay down just to lay down, not to go to sleep, put some gauze in and bite down softly on it to soak up the blood.
change it often.
especially if you are bleeding alot.
my bleeding stopped the day after surgery.
take some vicadin or tylox, maybe some motrin or ibuprofen.
whatever pain killers she/he gave you.
i hope this helps!
and hope your pain goes away soon.

Eating after wisdom teeth extraction

I didn't have my wisdom teeth out, but I DID have four regular teeth taken out for braces. Chicken should be fine, but try not to crunch too hard on them or you could poke the sockets. I know the bread they use for the nuggets can be crunchy, so be careful. As long as you are not in any pain or you're not being rough, sure. Make sure you get all the food out, of course, or it could heal over the food and get an infection. Be careful when swishing, also.. you could dislodge the blood clot & then that's a whole nother pain in the butt to deal with. If you're still unsure, call your dentist!

Edited to add:

Swishing with warm (not too hot!) salt water should be fine. The salt water promotes the healing, I was told by my dentist. I would stay away from anything super crunchy, like chips, or things small enough to get in the socket, like rice, until they are nice and properly healed. Alot of people had the advantage of chewing with their front teeth if they couldn't chew where the wisdom teeth removal/regular teeth removal was done, but I didn't, since I shouldn't be biting into anything with braces.. so if you're comfortable with chewing with the front teeth, go right ahead.

Good luck & Happy Birthday!

Fourth day of wisdom teeth removal and I have some questions about food?

1. Can I eat a sandwich? I want a sandwich from jack-in-the-box. It has turkey, cheddar cheese, and a sauce. It is toasted but not that hard.
2. Will I be able to eat cookies tomorrow? They are sugar cookies that are kind of hard.
I got my wisdom teeth pulled 4 days ago. Yesterday I tried to eat pancakes (I could only eat a mini one) and it didn't turn out so well. I'm not in any pain, I'm just a little sore and the swelling is not that bad. I'm so tired of eating soft foods! I just want some solid food! I just don't want any infections. My doctor gave me a mouthwash to use after every meal. Thanks in advance!

Can I take out wisdom tooth extraction stitches myself?

I had my wisdom tooth taken out a week ago and the dentist is closed so I was wondering if it would be OK if I just cut the stitches and took them out myself. I would just wait until my dentist is available but, food has been stuck in the stitches and when I tried to rinse/pick the food out I accidentally pulled on the stitches and now they are loose and it seems that the food is actually stuck onto the stitches. I can't take out the food without pulling on the stitches they seem to be intertwined. I know it may not be a safe, but is it possible? I mean wouldn't it be the same at the dentist? All I'm going to do basically is cut the stitches and pull them out. Was just wondering if this is a completely ridiculous idea or not....logically it doesn't sound like a bad idea unless I'm missing something that dentists do that I'm unable to do.....

Can you eat normal 2 weeks after wisdom tooth extraction?

Oh totally! I was eating solid foods 2 days after I got all of mine suegically removed. If your still tender then just eat softer foods, like chicken and avoid food like rice, nuts, seeds because that can easily get caught in your sockets. Also make sure after you eat to rinse your mouth and to take a look in the sockets to make sure there isn't any food caught in it. This could be really bad for you. If you have a seringe to give medication you could try shooting it out with that or if you have a waterpik that is even better at getting the food out. You could totally go out to the restuarant, I did after about a week and I was fine. I would say to try out some not so soft foods and see how your mouth feels, each healing process is different. And DO NOT wait until your sockets are closed to go back to eating normally, I had mine removed on August 21 and I still have sockets! That is over 2 months.

Food after wisdom teeth removal?

Start with liquids-chicken noodle soup and work slowly up to thicker soups and soft foods like mashed potatos and such. Yogurt, jello, puddings, and ice cream are easy to swallow and don't require much chewing. Remember to rinse your mouth with warm salt water several times a day as you won't be allowed to really brush your teeth right after the removal. The salt water helps with the healing process as well.

Hard foods after wisdom teeth removal.?

I had 4 of my wisdom teeth removed 16 days ago, and my surgeon told me not to chew hard foods for 4-5 weeks following surgery, because the weakened jaw bone can be accidentaly broken. Now I am afraid to chew at all. A piece of boiled cauliflower that wasn't soft enough crunched in my teeth and nearly made me to believe that I've got a jaw fracture already. I know it sounds silly, but... Does a person really know when he or she gets a jaw fracture?

Are wisdom teeth useful for chewing food?

Wisdom teeth are a remnant of a past(~100 million years ago) where a third set of molars was required to offset the wear and tear of our ancestors’ teeth. Their diet consisted primarily of roots, leaves, nuts and tough meats, which are very coarse foods requiring a lot of chewing. Also their jaws were much larger, they were still running around on all fours and teeth were extremely important in grabbing, tearing, even dismembering prey. Wisdom teeth were sort of a backup set of molars that would appear sometime after they were 17 (life expectancy was barely above 30) to ensure that they did not starve to death because they could not chew their food anymore.Fast forward to now, where our diets consist primarily of much softer, cooked and processed foods - infact we don't need teeth at all. We have to get our wisdom teeth removed because our jaws have evolved and cannot fit in 32 teeth anymore. So, to answer your question, No. Unless you plan to stop brushing and live like a caveman you definitely don't need them for chewing food.
