Wisdom Teeth Extraction Question

Question about wisdom teeth extraction?

Don't worry! Yup, the recovery will not be a bowl of cherries, but you won't be bad off, like you think.

Let me just tell you some stuff about the surgery and all. I've had mine out, and they were in similar condition to yours! I only had bottom ones, both impacted sideways and crazy crooked. First, about the scaryness and all: usually to get these teeth out you are given an option for nitrous oxide. This is a gas you breath, and it will make you not care what is going on, you will just be floating around thinking of nothing, really. Yes, if you concentrate on what is happening, you will be able to feel some pressure, but nothing should ever actually hurt. If you do feel pain, raise your hand and your DDS can give you some more local.

A tip: talk to your dental assistant! She wil be with you the ENTIRE time you are on nitrous, for safety, and she can make you feel so much better about the entire thing! Do it! :)

Trust me, on nitrous you won't care about the surgery. I've had oral surgery with and without nitrous (I am interested in dentistry, and so I think it's cool and am not scared anymore, so I can go without nitrous) and the nitrous really really does make you not care at all!

Good luck, and don't worry, cause you'll do just fine :)

If you wanna hear more about my experience, try my blog www.implant-adventure.blogspot.com, I write about everything but I've posted about my wisdom teeth there as well as other oral surgerys I've had.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction Questions?

It depends on the person from what they said when I got all of mine taken out, so just ask the people working on your teeth if you can go. I got mine out the day before thanksgiving we had ham and I was able to eat just not fast and not alot of stuff at one time, I was given Demoral to take after the surgery also, but I only used it on the day of after the surgery. Demoral doesn't dope u up pretty much from what the guy who did my teeth said u have to eat something super small after the surgery or u trow up and if u eat to much u throw up then to, so after I took it the first time I didn't take it again. I also played out side on the day after the surgery and went shopping the day after that so it wasn't to hard on me, but like I said it depends on the person if u have a high pain tolorence u will probably be fine even if u don't I bet u will be fine. About the conscious sedation call the place tis week and see if they will be giving u laughing gas if so then u will totally enjoy the surgery, if not then ask if they would be willing to use laughing gas. I remember before the sugery all that happened, and one time when they pulled my last tooth do I remember feeling anything during the surgery. I am not sure is laughing gas is conscious sedation, but hope it is because during the surgery u won't remember anything really until maybe the very end at that. So don't by any means freak out I am sure that u will be fine and if you can avoid it don't use Demoral unless u absolutely have to, ask about Advil or Tylenol. But mostly if you feel like u can't go DON'T GO LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. And ask your doctor lots of questions if anything worries u ask if you can come in before surgery and talk to the doc. about the procedure to make u less nevous and if he says it won't hurt and u won't feel a thing then don't assume he is trying to make u feel better about it because I bet when the surgery is all said and done you will realize he was right. I hope this helps and good luck on the surgery just don't over think this I found it alot of fun personnaly, because of the laughing gas, and my doc. was really nice so relax and if u can't go to the party then oh well if the people hosting the party are really your friends they will understand if youdon't feel up to going.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction Question?

It could be the dentist needed to up his monthly take more than your wisdom teeth needed out. You should get a second opinion from an older dentist.

I did NOT need mine removed until well over 35, but that is strictly anecdotal and I am definitely NOT a dentist, although I have medical experience.

I am answering solely because I do have ONE excellent recommendation: When the time comes, see a very good and EXPERIENCED dentist and have them ALL removed at once.

I do not know why people think any 25 year old is experienced. Let me tell you something, I am now old: No 25 year old is experienced, as a general rule (yes, I know about Einstein).

The young dentist who had a first go at me took 3 1/2 hours and ended up using hammers and chisels to remove ONE wisdom tooth piece by piece. He was pouring sweat and my head swelled up like a cantaloupe on that side, to say nothing of the pain. Needless to say I did not return for more.

I had the remaining three removed in less than 10 minutes some months later by an EXPERIENCED dentist. No swelling, all healed in a few days. FYI, he said: "Don't worry, I will have them out in less than 10 minutes."

I have occasionally seen that confidence in M.D. or others who KNOW what they are doing and have developed their skills. You will learn to judge. Nothing beats true expertise.

Wisdom teeth extraction questions............?

If your tooth is fully erupted you are correct to say that it would be easier to remove than if it was partly erupted or not through at all. But the main problem with wisdom teeth, especially lower ones, is that the shape of the roots is very variable and this can make the tooth difficult to remove. If I were you I would ask the dentist to take an xray of the tooth to see: a. Will it be easy to remove.? b. How much decay is in the tooth - can it be easily filled? Really, the only person who can advise you on your individual problem is a good dentist and it is very unwise to pay any attention at all to the experiences of others whose dental circumstances may well be very different. Sometimes in life you just have to surrender to the advice of the professional - but wouldn't you rather do that than take the advice of someone on a website like this. Good luck.

Questions on wisdom teeth extraction.. very nervous :-/?

Happy birthday in advance ^_^!! I'll be 23 next Monday :) from what i remember dealing with Wisdom teeth, i went to an oral surgeon and he put me to sleep while the surgery was being done. I woke up still being numb and all. My sis had dry sockets when she got hers taken out and she thinks cuz she spit (which i hear ur not suppose to do for a few days..it'll unblock the clot and will dry up creating agony pain). I was told also not to use a straw (i didn't) for a week. I also kept an ice pack on my mouth to help the swelling and took my medication as needed. Good luck and hope this experience goes well for u :) and not bad :/ Mine went fine & i had all 4 taken out! I looked like a chipmunk 0-0

Wisdom Teeth Extraction and Pain Killer's question?

I got my wisdom teeth removed this morning, and the bleeding stopped two hours or so after. I took the gauze out, and waited for the novocaine to wear off. I had eaten a little and then took a pain killer. 1-2 every 4- 6 hours, I took 1 at first then another one 4 hours later. I never felt any pain. Before the second I felt minor aching, and I am wondering if it is bad to continue taking one for minor aches... I am a little nervous that if I don't the pain will get worse. Is it okay to continue through the night until morning when I will wait untill it is necessary? I don't get sick from them... not sure if that's important...

Wisdom tooth extraction question?

If your enamel is utterly erupted you're proper to mention that it might be less complicated to take away than if it used to be in part erupted or now not via in any respect. But the major difficulty with knowledge tooth, specially scale back ones, is that the form of the roots may be very variable and this may make the enamel complex to take away. If I have been you I might ask the dentist to take an xray of the enamel to peer: a. Will it's handy to take away.? b. How a lot decay is within the enamel - can it's comfortably crammed? Really, the one man or woman who can suggest you to your man or woman difficulty is a well dentist and it is vitally unwise to pay any concentration in any respect to the reviews of others whose dental instances might good be very specific. Sometimes in existence you simply must give up to the recommendation of the legit - however would not you instead do this than take the recommendation of anybody on a internet site like this. Good good fortune.

Wisdom tooth extraction question?

how many wisdom teeth are you taking out?
if you're getting your wisdom teeth extracted in a DENTAL CLINIC, they'll most likely use local anesthesia, as they are not registered to perform surgery on you. Other anesthestics (like general, where you're completely unconsious) are usually performed in hospitals, or surgical clinics (not a dental office).

they should give you like an information booklet like a week before your surgery date - what to wear (tshirt, comfy pants), what not to do the week before surgery (don't drink, smoke, etc).

i think the best way would be to call the clinic! they're performing surgery on you so you have every right to ask questions! i'd call asap, because i highly doubt you'll be able to pick a different anesthesia last minute due to the fact that you'd have to be fasting 12 hours before hand for other types.

goodluck!

Single wisdom tooth extraction?

If you are put to sleep or just given novacane depends on the dentist you go to and the state your teeth are in.
Many people get a general anesthetic, but they are getting surgery, their mouth is getting cut open to expose the tooth to allow it to be removed. You won't have this, you will just be getting a tooth pulled so you might not need it. Talk with the person who is doing this procedure for you. You might feel better going to an oral surgeon who does wisdom tooth extractions more often rather than a regular dentist.
Many people have impacted wisdom teeth, which is why they need to come out in the first place. Many are so impacted that they an't come out in one piece, and must be broken to fully extract the tooth. You don't have that issue, so you probably won't need to have the tooth broken for it to be fully removed.
Its very difficult to help ease your fears because a majority of people have them removed as teens. Because of this, your situation is very different than most.
Talk with an oral surgeon or the dentist who is doing this procedure for you. They can tell you more about what to expect.

Wisdom tooth extraction. Is it dry socket?!?

It makes sense that there is a hole there. You had a tooth removed, there is nothing to fill that space anymore.
This is also very normal if you didn't have stitches to close up the wound. even if you did, its normal to have a pocket there while it is healing.
Follow your oral surgeon's instructions and continue to rinse with salt water.
Because there is a pocket there, things like food and saliva can get stuck, so be sure to thoroughly rinse with salt water to get everything out so it can heal better.
Over time it will fill in and settle. I had 4 of these pockets from when i got mine out, all 4 were impacted and had to be removed. I rinsed my mouth with salt water after eating, and had good oral hygiene, and the pockets healed up and over time the edges settled down so there ins't a hole there anymore at all.
