With My Jam Box Speaker Can I Play Music Through It Wile Its Charging Or Is It A Bad Idea

Are older Bose speakers any good?

I don't consider year 2000 Bose to be older, when I think of older Bose I think of the original 901, introduced 1968. Back then there were not many good speakers other than Altec Lansing, maybe some JBL and a few others. Bose was different but in my opinion not very good even then. I think if someone were to build something like the 901 but do it with high quality drivers it would be interesting, I personally wouldn't want it but it would be interesting.

The "Acousta-mess" stuff they make today is just down right horrible. I wouldn't use it for anything. ("today" includes back well into the 90's)

The problem is that while something like Klispch is certainly better, it's really not very good either. It's difficult to come up with anything for that $1000 ~ $2000 range that's any good. If there are any high-end audio/video stores in your area you need to go let them show you some products that you likely will have never heard of. The audio industry is a bit strange in that it's almost a rule of thumb that the more "household name" a brand is the lower its quality is and the less known it is the better it is. Not really but it's almost that bad. Stay out of Best Buy, Fry's etc and find a true high-end store. Do this before you spend the $1000 on the Bose. You might end up spending more but you will get a far more satisfying product.

Connecting a DVD player to U-verse box - Changing the input / line?

First off, I apologize in advance if I name something wrong.

I have U-verse, have had it for a few months now, and the box has the input plug (Yellow, Red and White Plugs). My TV doesn't have them, so I figured I would hook the dvd player to the U-verse Box, which is hooked to the TV. My problem now, is I do not know how to switch the input / line to the DVD player at all.

I tried using the "tv / video" button on the remote, nothing. I tried a lot of things, but couldn't find anything. I searched google for at least an hour, nothing that helped.

So basically, to sum things up: How do I switch the U-verse Box's input from Live TV to my DVD player.

If you could give a full guide to doing so, if it's not self explanatory enough, that would be great. :)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Can I use a blue tooth speaker while charging it?

Yes you can for sure…But I recommend you not to do so as it will damage your speakers battery…It will be cussed by the slow charger you will be using and the consumption will be higher than the charge rate so it's for sure going to affect your battery…Hope You Have A Nice Day :)

How do you make a bluetooth/portable speaker louder?

About the only way (once you’ve turned up the source volume to the point of distortion) is to improve the coupling of the speaker to the room, and focus the sound more in your direction and less in other directions.I’ve seen creative solutions using carved wood, or even red beer cups, but any container that is roughly horn-shaped (expanding towards the opening) will improve things if pointed towards you, whether trash cans or 2 liter bottles cut open (I didn’t say they’d LOOK good).Putting the speaker in a corner will also bounce more of the sound away from the walls and towards the listener.Otherwise, positioning the speaker as close as possible to your listening location at ear height is your only option for getting more of the sound into your ears. One more point: if you have any equalization in the chain, defeat it, or at least only use it to CUT the lowest bass octave, which your portable speaker probably won’t be able to physically reproduce, but which will eat up most of your amplifier power in a vain attempt to make bass. If you don’t have many equalizer bands, reduce the bass by ear, usually the deeper bass will get cut first while having less of an effect on sound the speaker might actually be able to reproduce. Also, do NOT boost all the bands, this just introduces piles of phase shift and wildly inaccurate frequency response, and you want to do as little of this as possible to retain at least some semblance of the original sound. The one exception is if there’s an overall level control (rather than a frequency control) - if you can still add more gain here, you might be able to squeeze out a bit more volume (only if something else in the audio chain isn’t quite up to snuff in output, and this might help compensate for that). Probably not, though - if it doesn’t get louder this way, bring it back to zero just to minimize the number of places where you may be introducing clipping. But still roll off what deep bass you can, since you’ll never hear it, but it’ll drain your amp and speaker capabilities trying.

Bose vs. Yamaha Speakers/av receivers ?

I am planing on building a new home theatre in my basement. A small one not huge. I was told to get a v25 from Bose but then a lot of people started bragging that Bose is highly overpriced and to make my own with a Yamaha reciever and sOne good polk audio speakers. What would be best and also I'm new to this so my budget is 2,000 but I can still add more after a week or so. Can you link me to some av recievers and some speakers that go with it? And also what's better hdmi or optical for sound? Please please I need to start ordering today so help me here :) thanks in advance

Which way is better to maintain Bluetooth speaker’s battery healthy, use it until empty then charge, or keep it plugged in?

Leave it plugged in whenever you use it near an outlet.A cell in a battery has two electrodes, the anode, and the cathode. Power is pushed into a battery by herding ions from their favorite 'ode to the 'ode that they hate. The ions push power out when they go back to where they want to be.When the battery is nearly full or nearly empty, it means one of 'odes is nearly full and it is difficult for the ions to find comfy spaces to hang out. They get hot, bothered, and they mess the place up. If things get too out of hand, the ions riot and destroy the 'ode and/or the stuff between the 'odes. Then the battery wouldn't work anymore. If the battery stops working while the product is young, enough people will demand their money back to make the product manufacturer lose money. They hate that. Thus there is a battery protection circuit that disconnects the battery well before it is empty, and the charging circuit slows down towards the end of the charge cycle when that 'ode gets crowded enough to make the ions hot. The charging circuit totally stops before things get out of hand. Thus the device already automatically stops before over discharging or over charging. Or at least it stops soon enough so that a high percentage of products survive the warranty period. Some people want their products to last much longer than the warranty. Some people want their music to play for as many hours at a time as possible, and are willing to throw the thing away at the end of the warranty. If you mostly use the product when it is plugged in, then you are not using the battery at all. A trickle charge on a lithium ion battery will promptly destroy it. When the battery is full the charging circuit completely shuts off.It is debatable which obsolete battery technologies, if any, benefited from being fully discharged occasionally, but there is no serious debate that it is not a good thing for lithium ion batteries.Personally, I use cheap USB power banks when it isn't inconvenient. If the weight and bulk isn't an issue, I can run some devices for days by using a big one. I have worn out a few power banks, but I usually buy them from surplus sites, so they are cheap.

Is it bad to charge my Bluetooth headset with an ordinary phone charging cord as opposed to the USB cable it came with? Or my phone with a USB cable?

It’s totally fine, you can use any cable and any USB power dongle as long as your device is USB-charged. All USB cables are made to the USB standard and will handle your charging needs. The thing you plug it into, a wall-wart or power brick or whatever, that’s only a power supply. It puts out +5Vdc at various current levels (a few news ones put out higher voltages, but only when very nicely asked by a device that can handle higher voltages). The actual charger for any USB device is in that device, so they always charge correctly from any USB power supply as well. That’s why there’s a vibrant market for power dongles, power bricks, USB outlets for charging on all kinds of things. They just need to provide that +5Vdc.
