Women Experienced With Buying A Wedding Gown

Big Butt Small Waist Wedding Dress Experience?

I am looking to purchase an A-line gown for my wedding and I wanted to know if any other woman shaped like myself (Very small waist huge butt and hips) were able to purchase their gowns in a smaller size because an A-line only measures your bust and waist.

I have tried on trumpet style dresses in a sizes 10 and 12 and they always fit snug on my butt and hips but they never fit me at the top I am practically swimming in it (I have small boobies 36A).

Just want to know if anyone out there was able to lose some sizes in a dress because of the cut.

Worlds worst wedding experience? * as a bridesmaid?

I am curious if there were any just horrific wedding tales out there like I have had.

I was in a wedding a number of years ago. It cost me more than my own dress for my own wedding by the time I was done with gifts, dresses, shoes, hair, nails... etc.

My nightmare bridesmaid day included the following

1.) Monthly newsletters on the updating of the bridal party of up and coming events.

2.) In 1 years time.. I had to buy an engagement party present, a house warming present. a bridal shower present, a bachloretter present and a wedding gift.

3.) We had to learn a dance routine so the bride to "perform" to a lip sync'd version of Paula Abdul's Forever Your Girl...

4.) Forced to have my thick hair put up in an updoo.. It cost me $100 and in the middle of the reception it fell down.

5.) Forced to buy my bridesmaid gown from a woman who charged 3x the price of the local semstress.... we HAD to buy our gowns there.. because she was the SAME ethnicity of the bride..

The list goes on and on.

Has anyone else ever seen such nonsense? This was well before Bridezilla too.

What has been your experience with buying traditional Indian wedding dresses online considering that some amount of customisation is always necessary?

I was very disappointed because the dresses which were shown on the sites were not the same when delivered so I would personally suggest If we have to consider shipping worldwide then you should definitely search pros and cons of the website and products. you should definitely check the authenticity of the website.i will give you an example My sister stays in USA I had bought sarees, lehengas, salwar suits online with some site but the results were disastrous because of customer services or fabric or late supply, etc. Hence from this sore experience i found that There are some factors which should be kept in mind while purchasing onlineGood Customer serviceFast shipping and deliveringNice fabricAnd, of course the pattern and style. When you purchase then it should be a trust worthy site. After experiencing lot of struggles and troubles regarding the purchase of online finally I have found this site My Lebaz which has done justice to the online purchasing. They have a very classic collection and the customer executives were very polite and responded for everything quickly. Customers having been saying good stuff on their instagram page too. Nt sure if they have a twitter handle.

Do online stores favor more the customers in buying wedding dresses or not?

Personal opinion, I think wedding dresses online stores surely favor the customers to buy wedding dresses online, because this is what they provide.I know a good online store which provides kinds of wedding dresses, because my sister bought her wedding dress on that online store, and the dress is with high quality and cheaper price. You can have a look. And here is the link: prom dresses cheap

Would most brides prefer to buy or rent a wedding dress? Why?

I think that most women do not have full information about all of their options. If I could not sew gowns and didn’t know others who could sew them, I might opt for a rental if I was young and on a modest budget or wanted a dress that could not be remade or easily sold. I don't believe in keeping a gown to try to force a future bride into it. Nevertheless, I have the knowledge and means to get what I like now. I'm also not a standard size, so looking for a previously loved dress on eBay or another site wouldn't work for me.A custom sewn gown fromviously a private designer or a specialty seamstress who is not a huge celebrity like Vera Wang can be done for less than a lot of the dresses one sees at bridal botiques. I would rather have gorgeous high quality silk in the exact style that I want and made to my exact measurements than a name brand “ready-to-wear” gown that is altered from a generic dress size to sort of fit me. No one sees the label/brand when the gown is being worn. I live in the Dallas metropolitan area where there are places with great selections of specialty fabrics available for custom bridal including dozens of shades from purest white to rich ivory, with or without beading. After the big day, a dress made of a natural fiber like silk can be dyed to another color and altered if desired for use as evening wear. There are fairly simple things that can take a strapless white wedding gown to a stunning evening gown with off the shoulder sleeves added or bodice and skirt changes. I would much rather spend $3000 for a custom silk or satin gown that I can wear for years after it is dyed and altered than to spend $1500 on a one use polyester gown with a cute name on the label. Of course gowns can be sewn for much less, and I have helped women who started early and wanted to learn enough to make most of the things for their weddings on a tight budget. There are so many places to buy or get dresses sewn relatively inexpensively where I live that I don't hear much about brides renting dresses.

BUYING A WEDDING DRESS ONLINE?

Hi i was considering buying a wedding dress online, and i wanted to get opinions from women who ACTUALLY did, on what your experience was, pricing etc and also a legit site.

Why do brides spend thousands of dollars buying a wedding dress that they'll never wear again, while grooms, who will likely have future opportunities to wear a tuxedo, usually end up renting a cheap one?

Having worked for a decade in that industry, I can actually add a few more points, despite the 5 good answers already:It is not unheard of for women to rent their dresses in the US.  I'd say there are two main things keeping that from taking off: First, the dress stores would be leaving money on the table if they responded to that market-demand.  (Remember, there are no repeat customers in that industry, so many professionals take advantage of every customer always.)  Second, without a significant economy of scale the cost to rent a dress, have it tailored, and eventually dry-cleaned will cost you almost as much as a cheap dress ($250ish.)  So you end up with this odd secondary market where many brides end up ditching the dress on craigslist or something, because other than sentimentality for some women, there is simply no rational argument for holding onto an asset that has already depreciated to zero...  And in America most brides and grooms are still in their young 20s, so they could use the money for food, diapers, and gas money.Traditionally the wedding is her event -- not both of their event, not a shared event, but the time she says goodbye to her family and is whisked off to his castle, barely and rarely to see her friends and family again.  It's hosted at her venue, with her friends, who give dowry gifts to her to bring to his castle.  To this day, she doesn't even have a last name on 90% of wedding invitations! As others said, men are not really more likely to wear a tuxedo again.  I probably have, but I can't think of a time I've worn one since my wedding--definitely not with enough frequency that my body would be vaguely the same size at each wear.As long as I'm being politically incorrect (but correct nonetheless), I feel like the elephant in the room is that women are the general consumers of fashion.  Men rent a tux from a store that sells 3 styles of tuxes, and women can tell brands and fashion designers apart.  If you pointed a gun to my head I could not name 5 fashion designers, and even if I could I'd probably be too embarrassed to admit it!  Many women reading this are saying to themselves "what--embarrassed?!?--what?"  :)

Should I buy my wedding dress online?

If you can find a vendor with good reviews and get it in time to take it to a seamstress if you need to make alterations, sure. I bought mine from a chinese vendor that replicates high end dresses from the west for under $300 and only had to make minor alterations. it was perfect and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Should the groom go wedding dress shopping with the bride? I want to but she says No.?

I have asked if I could go Dress shoping with my Fiance. She replied with a definite "NO!" and said that she wanted it to be a "Mother-Daughter-Sister" thing and that if I saw the dress defore the wedding it would "cheapen" the whole experience. I beg to differ. I think It would be a good experience to share and I think she will be just as beautiful on our wedding day no matter how many times I have seen her dress. But she says she wants the moment I see her to be magical. I think seeing her in her dress can be magical several times, not just on our wedding day. Also, it seems lame to spend that kind of money so that I can see her in it for a few hours, then she changes into a new outfit for the honey moon and we clean and store the dress for the next 80 years. I would rather get more use out of the dress and enjoy her in it several times. Am i stupid?
