Work Interfering With School

Will acting/modeling interfere with my school work ?

It really shouldn't. In this economy jobs won't be flying through the door. Agencys help you find work...they don't guarantee it. Based on how famous the agency is you might average about 3-5 jobs a year. If you land more congrats! If anything you might miss a day or two of school. Not that big of a deal. The only time acting/modeling will being to interfere is if you are starting to miss 5+ days a month which is very unlikely.

Since you are starting off you have nothing to worry about. Go for it and Good Luck!

Will acting/modeling interfere with my school, please answer !?

I love acting/modeling and I want to join an agency, but my parents are hesitant because they think that it will interfere with my school work, especially as I am beginning test and exams through the year. Is this true? If I got work, how would I fit in school work, and balance my work and acting/modeling, so that I can also get good results?

- By the way I'm 15 and I mean acting as in film/tv, etc. I have a passion for those things because I love them. NOT for the fame or money at all ! I just wonder how to balance school work and acting/modeling. THANKS to all who answer !

How can I keep emotions from interfering with school work?

If you can't avoid the interference at home, then the simplest way is doing your school work at another place other than your home, like library. The harder way is to talk with your family members about your concern: what they have done, how you have been affected and what you wish them to do for you. The more peaceful and clearer, the better of the effect. The result depends on whether your family members are will to change and their ability to perform the change.

Should teenagers work during the school year?

It depends on the student, and their personal situation and goals, but in general I would strongly advise against teens working during the school year.I was a straight-A student through the tenth grade. I desperately wanted more independence, so I started applying for jobs as soon as I turned sixteen. I finally landed a job at the local movie theater and worked full-time during the summer between tenth and eleventh grades. When school started in the fall, I kept working, mostly on the weekends.I had to give up participating in the cross-country and ski teams at my school as I couldn't make all the practices and meets. I was taking two AP classes and struggled to keep up with the workload. My grades slipped, and I nearly failed calculus. I felt overwhelmed, burnt out and constantly tired. I remember sitting in the cramped break room at the movie theater, trying to read my AP US history textbook, but unable to concentrate because I could only think about how many more hours I had to work and how many pages I still had to read that weekend. I had no time to catch up on schoolwork during the weekend, much less relax. Finally my parents insisted that I stop working until summer break. The narrative of the high-achieving high school student who can do it all on six hours of sleep is so prevalent, we often fail to recognize that it comes with a price. A job during the school year will reduce the amount of time a student has for homework and extracurriculars. And is it worth it? Most high school students who have jobs want to save up to buy a car so they fit in with their peers. A car is expensive to maintain and may not be needed at college. To me, it makes more sense for a high schooler to spend time applying for scholarships (and earning good grades so that they qualify for said scholarships!). Many scholarships are for $5 thousand or more, which is more than a whole school year of part time minimum wage work. There are some exceptions, for example a student who plans to go directly into the workforce after graduating, but for college-bound teens working during the school year is not a good idea.

How much is too much masturbation, it's not interfering with work or school but it feels needed multiple times a day?

If it does not interfere with your daily life it is not too much. The human brain is a wonderful thing, it can become “addicted” (I use the term very loosely) to just about anything. It should better be called a compulsion or an obsession. A very limited number of people can become obsessed by masturbation. In this case, the only sexual activity the subjects considers is masturbation, and masturbation or thoughts of masturbation fills all of their time. People obsessed with masturbation give up on social life, on work or study, on family in order to masturbate. This goes beyond a healthy libido which pushes people to mawsaturbate daily, sometimes a few times a day. It is an extremely rare occurance and it requires medical attention. Now, to find out if you are similarly obsessed or not, think of being invited to a party, going to the cinema to see a movie by your favorite director or actor, out for dinner with some of your friends in a restaurant you really like, going to a concert by your favorite band. If in such situations you can’t enjoy yourself because you contantly think that you could instead lock yourself somewhere and masturbate you have a problem. If not… As Zucchero Fornaciari used to sing:Only a healthy and conscious libidoSaves the youth from stress and Catholic ActionOnly a healthy and conscious libidoSaves the youth from sport and Catholic Action

I'm severely depressed, and it's affecting my school work. What do I do?

Seek help elsewhere than online. Start by telling your parents. Ask them to sit down with you so you can have their complete attention and know that you aren’t joking around or just looking for attention inappropriately. Choose a time when things are settled down and not frantically busy, maybe after dinner. They may want to take you to a doctor for a full evaluation (the doctor basically just asks you questions). If your parents do not provide anything more than comforting words, then let a trusted school counselor know. This is not a betrayal of your parents, it’s just a second opinion from someone who has more experience in recognizing symptoms of depression.Do not hold anything back, because if you minimize your symptoms, they will assume it’s just a mild case of teenage moodiness and dismiss it as such. Tell them any physical symptoms you may have been having (trouble sleeping, sleeping way too much, physical pains, anxiety attacks, heart racing, hyperventilating, crying uncontrollably, difficulty focusing, etc.). It is critical that you are completely honest about everything so that you can find the right help.Your schoolwork is important, but right now your mental health is far more important.

When work interferes with college, should one keep the job for the money?

I live out of state and have to basically pay for all of my expenses myself (ie: my parents/family can not afford to pay for expenses I accumulate). I work a part time job at Wal-Mart, and have been doing so for the past 4 months. However, this semester has started off terrible, as I am working almost EVERY night, and feel like I never get time to myself or time to do homework. It's so bad that I skip classes just because otherwise I feel overwhelmed. This is my last 4 classes I need to PASS before I enter Nursing School and I really want to do well in them (as in get A's), so that I can boost my GPA just a little more before I enter the really hard stuff.

I only keep the job because I need the money. Otherwise, I'd dump it in a split second, as I completely dislike my job at Wal-Mart, and I dislike the new "rules" they imposed on us even more.

What really should come first? Work...School... or Both? I find myself on the fence with this one; I'm dying to quit, but likewise I'm in need of that -every-other-week- paycheck.

Perhaps I should turn in my 2weeks notice now, go to work the two remaining weeks, and then save every sent I collect from my paychecks in hopes it'll get me through... or until I decide I can hold down a different job? TBH, I think some of my expenses will be avoided if I don't work. The BIGGEST thing I pay for is gas. I drive a truck with a V8 in it, and it's VERY fuel UNefficiant....and with gas prices now $3.30+, it's killing my paycheck. (And I live ON CAMPUS, so I don't have to pay for gas to get to classes)

I'm not wanting someone to decide my life for me... I'm more so wanting to know opinions. What should matter more... work or school/personal time. As a full time student, I can't really see both.
