Working At Mcdonalds In The Kitchen/chicken Section

Working grill at McDonalds?

Everybody has a station. If they actually assign you to the grill itself, that's all you will do. Cook the meat, and make sure the warming station is full for the people on the other side making the sandwiches. They won't allow you to move around, as it might cross contaminate the other stations. Cooking the meat is pretty easy. you just place the patties on the grill, then close the "clam" which is the top part, so it cooks both sides at once. No flipping is required. It's on it's own timer, so when it opens the top part, you just remove the meat, place it in a holder with a fresh liner, then put it in the holding compartment and press the timer button.

The word "grill" just refers to the kitchen. They will likely train you on all stations. Just remember to wash and sanitize your hands often. =)

Whats it like working on the grill at mcdonalds ?

There is a reason ronald paints his face and that is to hide his frown of sadness , I tell you working at mcdonalds sucks you are treated porrly by co-workers ,bosses and customers the grill stinks and it can get frustrating when you see all those orders coming in and the other workers trying to rush you. But do your best don't give up and if they see you can't make it on grill they may move you to a diffrent station like prep or fries

Calories burnt working at McDonalds??

Ok, so is this is a really wierd question, but...
I work almost full time at McDonalds. I'm on my feet for 8 hours at a time, and moving around a lot. I know that's not "exercise", but it's a lot more than sitting at home doing nothing. How many calories do u think it burns working there??

How old do you have to be to work in the kitchen grill cooking at Mcdonalds?

Generally minors are on front counter, stocking, and running orders only. You won't be on grill unless there's nothing to do, it is busy, and they are behind. It's not hard because the second day training packets of what goes in what order is posted above the workspace. Don't be afraid to ask someone on grill (if you happen to be on grill) and get stuck.

Tips:
For water, give them the clear sundae cup so you can see what they put in it. Limit it to two per group.
A senior soda is a discounted small soda.
When there is nothing to do for front counter, stock up.
When that's done, clean the trays for front counter.
When that's done, use a sanitized towel to clean the front counter, machines, and self-serve beverage area. (Don't forgot to stock up for self-serve beverage area as well).
When that's done, help drive-thru by running their orders.
When running orders:
Hit "Serve" even if you haven't served it yet, then "Recall" so you can still see the order. (This is done so the "grill time" is low).
If you are waiting on sandwiches, prepare the fries, but leave it on the rack. Then when grill finishes making the sandwiches, you just put the fries in the bag. (There will never be a fry person, unless it is slow. You will have to make your own fries 95% of the time).

Even though you are on front counter, and there are runners, you will have to run your orders 95% of the time (unless there are customers). In which case, you help the customers in line. Then where there are no customers, you continue to run orders.

It is tiring, but you're only there for experience. After a while you can work for a more rewarding company. When you get stuck on taking orders, ask another crew member. Managers hate when you make a mistake and issue a refund.

What is someone's honest opinion of working at McDonald's?

Okay full input on this.

I've been working at McDonald's for 8 months now and it honestly is not a bad job for a teenager who is 16. I do the kitchen part where I'm either on grill (cooking the burgers or frying the chicken products) or table (preparing the sandwiches/wraps or salads)

It's really friendly where I work! The first 3 days will be training where they teach you basics like garbage, French fries, your station you will be working etc.

My only con is managers and their unfairness. I have the managers who are one moment cool or other moments just lazy, rude sons of bitches.. I'm sometimes put with the managers I hate and they give me the worst task to do..

They send people (like me) who aren't all that talkative to do such shitty cleaning jobs like throw out the garbages, change them, go wipe down the tables and mop, spray trays etc. It's ridiculous and really rude to send me 75 percent of the time.

I even had one manager send me home early one time to put her own family member (who is a drive-thru/window girl) in my place on kitchen like wth..

All in all it's not as bad but be caution and watch out for managers who act like this. I sometimes get the urge to quit but It's a job so whatever..

How do we get McDonald's to stop with all the beepers in the kitchen?

I currently work at McDonald's and the beeps are incredibly annoying. Try being around them for 9 hours some days... they do your head in! You leave at the end of your shift with beeping in your head.

But at the same time, although there are so many beeps there is a use to most of them. (Some could be replaced by just a flashing light, like when the milkshake or McFlurry machine needs topped up)
But they are a very good way of getting people to take action, much like in an emergency room, to shut them up. For example fries needing shaken so customers don't get them all stuck together... it is a very annoying beep so people will hurry up and turn it off, and at the same time shake the fries.

Another useful one is the grills, which are very loud but if the plates are closing, you don't want any fingers or scrapers or whatever near that which could crush your fingers between plates which are 177C and 218C.

Also any chicken, fish or vegetarian items which are made to order come through to the kitchen on a screen, followed by a loud noise... if that noise wasn't there, your order could very easily be unnoticed for a while.

There is sometimes a problem depending on the printer in the kitchen, as if you start customizing beef products a sticker gets printed. The printer at our store doesn't make a noise and so orders can sometimes go unnoticed which isn't very good.

So while I dislike the beeps and buzzers and noises, I do feel they are necessary and help you get your food quickly, and make every McDonald's food uniform in quality.

Maybe try sitting as far away from the kitchen as possible, if the store has another dining area try there, so the noise gets reduced :)

McDonald's Cook position?

I work at Mcdonald's and have had to work counter and cook. It can be stressful at first, but it gets easier, especially if you're a quick learner.

What they did at my store was train you on meat the first couple of days. It's pretty much a filing system of meat, ha ha. There are little trays that slide out that have the meat in them with lit up numbers and abbreviations below them that are pretty self explanatory. For example, the regular burgers have 1-10 under them and the quarter-pounder burgers have 1-4 under them. The rest either say FISH, NUGG, or SSC (Southern Style Chicken) or MCC (McChicken). If the light is off that means they've been there too long and are no longer able to be served and go to the waste bucket.

Whenever you run out or start to get low on any of the meats, there is a freezer next to the grills. They'll teach you how to work the grills. Trust me, they're really simple. You just have to find what meat you're cooking on the touch screen, located on the grill, pull the top down and wait for the timer. It's so easy and you'll pick up everything fast! Just be glad you don't have to work counter or drive-thru :P

Good Luck and Congratulations on the job :)

First day working cash register at McDonald's :(?

In the morning I was put on cash register it went really well I was kind of slow and I had to ask for help several times(I feel really bad interrupting other workers when they are busy getting orders) but I did ok everyone understood that I was knew and the customers were really nice. Then I got moved to fries I did really well on that also. After fries I went onto drinks it was really busy and I wasn't quite catching on I mean I kind of got it but I wasn't confident and the only drinks I can make by myself are the blended ones like strawberry lemonade, mocha frape, and smoothies...all the ones with "shots" and milk and stuff I was totally lost on and I had to ask for help several times...The other girl that I am training with caught on to drinks right away and our manager even said that she was really good at them. I feel so stupid..

towards the end of my shift they put me back on cash register and this mean looking lady came in with about 6 kids and went through all the extremely pick orders for each person. I guess I missed a few and she got mad and started yelling at me. I don't know If I had missed any or if the order trays weren't full yet. But I felt horrible and someone more experienced took over..I still feel really bad I know it was my first day but I feel really stupid. And I really want to get the drinks down.

Do you have any tips on what i can do to get better quicker they don't have anything you can take home and study and there are charts on how to do stuff but by the time you get done making 1 drink looking at the chart you are 3 drinks behind.
