Working Out Other Arm Not As Sore

Sore arms after working out?!?

Hello

I'm a licensed massage therapist and will try to answer your question as best i can with the information you gave.

1) Yes...sounds like you overdid it. You should trust your instincts, as it sounds like you know that overworking your arms made them sore.

2) Sounds like you can't straighten out your arms because your arm muscles are tight and shortened due to overuse. If the pain is directly in your elbow or shoulder, then it could be the ligaments ..which attach bone to bone....or the tendons...which attach muscle to bone. However, it sounds more like the muscles and treatment is the same...just that tendons and ligaments take longer to heal.

3) Try doing arm stretches to get them back to their proper length. Monitor yourself not to overdo it.

Ice is for inflammation...heat is for muscle. Usually the first three days you use ice for inflammation then heat for muscle. Yu're supposed to switch from ice to heat because the swelling goes down. U can try both and see which works better for you, though. no real harm done if you use either.

Also,, try self-massage of your arms. You don't need a professional to massage your arms. ..gentle squeezing.

4)No...you shouldn't go play golf until your arms feel better...yes...you will make them worse. Try not to use your arms much aside from the stretches. I don't like to directly contradict a response, but working out more at this point isn't a good idea. yes it's true the muscle rebuilds itself and working out is ok if there is mild soreness....but if you can't stretch our your arm and painkillers aren't getting rid of the pain then you are past that point and need to rest your arm.

5). If it continues to hurt and does not seem to be getting any better, u should see a medical professional. (i dunno...i guess after 10 days or so)

Not Sore After Workout?

Do you train regularly?
If so, is this your normal experience?
Often times, you won't be sore until the day AFTER THE DAY AFTER you exercise. If you're consistently working out and not getting sore at all, it MIGHT mean you need to add more weight.
If you're trying to bulk up, you should be lifting weights that you can only lift about 7 times in one set (and maybe 3 or 4 sets of those). If you can lift the weight 20 times, it's too light.

There are different theories about which muscles to train on what day, but the most common way to do it is usually to work two major muscle groups a day, spread out over a week or so.

For example, you can work your chest and triceps muscles one day, biceps and back muscles another day, and legs and shoulder muscles another day. This method is often recommended because it helps you avoid working the same set of muscles two days in a row, mainly because the muscles you're exercising on each day are muscles that work together to perform similar functions (e.g. pushing or pulling) and won't be stressed on another day when you're working a different set of muscles. It helps you to avoid working the same set of muscles two days in a row. If you work your muscles heavily one day and then do it again the next day you could overtrain and damage your muscles (or drop the weight on yourself!).

Some people even devote whole days an entire muscle group, doing all kinds of different exercises for one different set of muscles each day, maybe 6 days a week, but those people are usually professionals who are being paid to spend all their time in the gym.

Make sure you also eat enough carbohydrates in the morning so you'll have the energy to exercise, and enough protein so your muscles can repair themselves. Also make sure get at least 8 hours of sleep each night, and you should probably take a break from exercising a couple of days week.

If you can afford a personal trainer, that would help you to make sure you know what to do and how to do it right, but if not, just try to make friends with some people who lift weights and/or you can read books and Internet resources about it.

My arms not sore after working out , why?

Its either because you are doing the same exercises over and over or you are not doing them to failure.

I can do calf raises on the leg press machine with clean form with 4 plates on each side, more than almost every other guy in the gym. My calves don't look particularly special and are not sore after doing 3 sets of this because I do them every week and my calves are used to it. To get my calves sore I have to do exercises I don't normally do, stuff like calf raises while holding a dumbbell, or the seated calf raise.

Your biceps are no different.

You want to kill them. Start with 3 sets of as many pullups as you can do. Follow with 3 sets of an exercise called "21's" (look it up on youtube). If you have been doing normal bicep curls, end with hammer curls. If you have been doing hammer curls, end with cable bicep curls one handed.

Why am I not getting sore after working out? It's been a week and I only got sore the first time. I'm pretty sure I'm doing enough cause I go until I can't do anymore.

testosterone.hydration.Those 2 are probably the only REAL factors in building muscle / repair…My conclusion is that your probably like me a handful of others, just genetically blessed high testosterone & satellite cells … Doesn’t mean you’ll become huge like the hulk in 6 months, just basically means you’ll get gains faster.I myself stay steady in the gym for at least 2 hours a day training hard, come home and drink tons of water… never sore really, i get like tight & tender after the workout within 30 minutes of me being home.. but when i go to bed and wake up i’m fine. So… our muscles respond, adapt, & repair themselves faster than others… like how some people get sick a lot, and other rarely get sick no matter the encounter… “everyone is different” isn’t just some bullshit quote, it’s factual.

Sore breasts on the side..(working out)?

Yes sore breasts can definitely be from lifting weights if you did press or lifting them above your head. Sometimes women get sore breasts even if its not near menstruation or from pregnancy. I have very sore still not sure what I did. But I know weight lifting can make them sore.

Working out but not sore after heavy lifting?

The last two times I've worked out I haven't been sore at all the day after. When I lift I lift as much as my body will let me and my muscles get fatigued so much I can't lift anymore, so I stop my workout. It's usually about 30-45 minutes. Can someone please tell me why? Or if I'm doing something wrong?

My arms are really sore after working out yesterday ?

ABSOLUTELY normal. In fact, it means you did a great job working out your muscles. Sounds like your biceps and triceps are sore! The fact that you are more sore the day after is actually called DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) and is 100%, completely and absolutely normal, so don't stress out. There've been times where I've been sore for 5 or 6 days after a really good workout!

The fact that you are really sore is a good thing ... it means you worked hard and did exactly what working out is supposed to do. I'd recommend, since this is the first time they've been super sore, to not exercise today and possibly tomorrow if they are still really sore and just relax and stretch them out. Just take a hot bath and relax...you are completely normal. Good job with the workouts, buddy!

Also, next time you work out and if you don't get sore that doesn't mean you didn't do a good job. Sometimes you will be sore, some more than others, and sometimes after a good workout it won't even feel like you worked out the day after.

Just relax and realize that you had a great workout and that you are completely normal, with so many other people in your same situation. Good luck with the workouts and keep going ... sounds like you are doing a good job pushing yourself! Best wishes!

Is it normal to feel more sore in one arm the day after a workout?

Normal, no I’d say not. Soreness is pretty normal, but if it’s only on one side that would indicate a pulled muscle or some imbalance in the training.
