Is it safe to give out the last 4 digits of a credit card number through an email?
It's always good in today's day and age to be guarded/protective of your personal information. However in this case I think you're ok. Firstly, credit card fraud is one of the very easiest forms of fraud to clean up (so long as you're regularly reviewing your statemtents and not waiting too long to file a dispute) Theres not much anyone could do with the last 4 digits of your credit card number...your social would be a different story but even if I had your ENTIRE credit card number...it's as simple as calling your card issuer and reporting the theft and the number becomes useless to a potential thief. This is a legitimate vendor that you've already had legitimate business interaction with...and as I said there's very little risk in giving up the last 4 digits of your credit card number, even if you were giving it to a thief.

Take a piece of paper and a 2B or bigger pencil, or break the pencil lead and powder it, now place the paper above the card number and gently scribe the pencil over it or rub the lead powder. You should see the card number faintly within the blackened portion of the paper. However I can't guarantee it will work.
