Would A Sentient Alien Extraterrestrial Be Able To Accept Islam As Their Religion

Poll: Extraterrestrial Life (aka aliens)?

Can you please state your worldview/religion... and answer this question

What do you think about aliens?

Y = They most likely exist
N = They do not exist (or cannot exist)
M = Maybe (or I don't know)

If you are Christian, Islam, or Jew... and you answered "Y" or "M"... can you also comment on how life on other planets fits with your religious views. Or does it not affect anything at all?

How would each of the worlds major religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism) be affected if extraterrestrial life were to be discovered?

Q: How would Christianity be affected if extraterrestrial life were to be discovered?I don’t think the discovery of intelligent technology using aliens would make a lot of difference to Christianity or the other major religions. The more enthusiastic elements would engage in some exegetical gymnastics and end up claiming they implicitly knew about the aliens all the time. Others would claim that the aliens are a modern manifestation of demons, or a Satanic counterfeit of God’s creation. I expect A Case of Conscience would be reissued by the rights holder. A Case of Conscience quotes theologian Gerald Heard:If there are many planets inhabited by sentient creatures, as most astronomers (including Jesuits), now suspect, then `each one of such planets (solar or non-solar)' must fall into one of three categories:Inhabited by sentient creatures, but without souls; so to be treated with compassion but extra-evangelically.Inhabited by sentient creatures with fallen souls, through an original but not inevitable ancestral sin; so to be evangelized with urgent missionary charity.Inhabited by sentient soul-endowed creatures that have not fallen, who thereforeinhabit an unfallen, sinless paradisal world;who therefore we must contact not to propagandise, but in order that we may learn from them the conditions (about which we can only speculate) of creatures living in perpetual grace, endowed with all the virtues in perfection, and both immortal and in complete happiness for always possessed of and with the knowledge of God. (0:7-8)There’s a discussion here: "Covering A Case of Conscience".

What is the Islamic point of view regarding aliens?

According to Islam, aliens are completely possible and most likely. The easiest thing to point to in reference to this is a verse from the Quran that every Muslim recites every day during prayers, which refers to Allah as "rebel al-amin" or "lord of the worlds." Plural worlds. For more verses in detail: ALIENS IN THE QURANTo make the point in a straight forward manner, anyone who believes that God has an infinite amount of power, able to do anything, should believe in aliens. I mean, why would God limit himself to only creating just one sentient being? That's no fun.

What would realistically happen to religious institutions if intelligent extraterrestrial life were confirmed to be real?

It might be difficult for some of the more Fundamentalist religious groups (that is, unless the Aliens we meet happen to be Southern Baptists/etc!).But my guess is that most religions would simply expand their world view to include the Extraterrestrial race that has made contact. Much of what’s considered as Holy Writ is up for interpretation anyway, and things like the prophesies of Ezekiel could actually be seen as promoting extraterrestrial visitation, if interpreted that way.The Catholic Church has recently embraced the idea that there are most likely other intelligencesin the universe, and that it has no bearing on one’s belief system, and as time goes on I imagine other religious groups will do the same.If ET is parked on the White House lawn, or government officials ever do decide to come clean on the ET Hypothesis, there won’t be much of a choice for any religion to not expand its parameters to include other races of beings, or else take the risk of becoming irrelevant.I'm guessing if and when Contact becomes accepted by society, church membership will go up, and there will be many sermons delivered on how of course God wouldn’t simply end his creation with humankind.

Aliens / UFO and islam?

Hi,

I just read the following thread
http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080102081451AAYHxvl
where everyone says that alien existence is proven by Quran. Can someone please tell me if there is any Hadith that points in the same direction? Also Quran says "wama arsalnaka illa rahmatal lilalameen" which means that Muhammad (P.B.U.H) was sent as a blessing to the WORLDS, so if aliens exist is he a prophet for them as well? Does islam even mean anything to them??
No offenses please I'm just curious.

Thanks.
