My dad mistakenly laminated my degree certificates. Will it not be accepted if I'm going abroad for higher studies?

Don't worry. it'll be accepted, unless it needs stamping or attestation.Same happened to me…nasty thing. Now my masters degree looks like puke stamped with a dozen sealsYou can “de-laminate “it by the way.Other thing is your degree would be stamped from time to time depending upon your current country ministry of foreign affairs so it'll end up looking bad.My advice, goto couple of lamination guys, they can remove the cover with some minor damage. This video might help a bit too

How can one permanently live and move to the United Arab Emirates? Does the UAE provide permanent residence visas for those who retire if they purchase a house in cash? Can the visa be renewed every 6 months for the rest of your life?

I lived in Dubai, UAE for 40 years. My parents 55 years. Currently, I reside in Thailand, in a small village. So let me give you a perspective.Dubai, UAE versus Village in Thailand.First DUBAI, UAE(Let us assume you have AED 3,000,000 or USD $816,794)If you have AED 3,000,000 or USD $816,794 and you are planning to stay in Dubai, this is how much you would have to spend (I am giving you rough approximates)Annual Rent of a Villa in Dubai - AED 100,000Annual Food Cost in Dubai (@100 per day) - AED 36,500Annual Transportation Charges in Dubai - AED 18,250Annual Miscellaneous Cost in Dubai (@100 per day) - AED 36,500Annual Business Cost in Dubai - AED 100,000Electricity & Water - AED 8,750Annual Total Cost - AED 300,000(Please note above costs are taken in approx. They are dummy figures. I have not at all factored in that you will be buying, shopping, or doing anything else. Electricity & Water was given that figure to give you a ‘rounded’ figure). So if you calculate the abovewith AED 3,000,000 or USD $816,794 You can stay in Dubai, UAE for 10 years. Now I currently stay in a village in Thailand. So let us see what your expenses will be like. Now Village in ThailandIf you have AED 3,000,000 or USD $816,794 and you are planning to stay in Thailand this is how much you would have to spend (I am giving you rough approximates)Annual Rent of a Villa in Thailand - AED 30,000Annual Food Cost in Thailand (@20 per day) - AED 7,300Annual Transportation Charges in Thailand - AED 3,650Annual Miscellaneous Cost in Thailand (@10 per day) - AED 3,650Annual Business Cost in Thaildnd - AED 15,000Electricity & Water - AED 8,75Annual Total Cost - AED 60,475So if you calculate the abovewith AED 3,000,000 or USD $816,794 You can stay in Thailand for 49 yearsSo now…for the SAME lifestyle, same facilities, same everything.- Dubai, UAE - 10 yearsSimple Village Thailand - 49 yearsSo now you - you decide.Loy MachedoPS - I don’t think I need to mention UAE follows Islam (No sex outside marriage, no drinking alcohol openly, no freedom to ‘live and let live) Need I say more?

What do I have to do when a passport photo gets blurred due to water?

This being an identification document, the photo is critical. A blurred photo means the identification function will fail. You should get a new passport. If you are in your country then its the same institution that issued you the original document. If you are abroad, you should go to the nearest embassy or consulate of your country, or embassy representing the interests of your country (when your country does not have an embassy there). The consular department in embassies and consulates can issue new passport (sometimes just a temporary passport).

Can I travel on a slightly damaged passport?

You can travel once , if the visa pages are intact and the photo information page is also intact and if it's the outer cover is coming out, get it changed. Sooner or latter it can create a problem.Last year we travelled to London and my daughter passport outer cover was slightly coming out but not alarming. We applied for visa , the vfs objected it and but after creating a little fuss accepted it by taking me from writing that the cover of the passport is little damaged. Anyway we got the visa and we travelled also , there the cover completely came of, while we were travelling back the immigration stopped us and warned us to get a new passport, he mentioned if it was not for a little child they would have stopped. We came and got a new one.No if it's coming out dangerously then get it fixed.
