Why did communism fail in the USSR but succeed in China?

The short and simple answer is the implementation of Communism was as unsuccessful in former USSR as it was in Mao China. Now for the extended answer. I hope that after reading my response you will be inspired to look at communism, socialism and capitalism from a whole new light.Karl Marx predicted that socialism and communism would be built upon foundations laid by the most advanced capitalist development. Therefore our social and political order must also be an evolutionary process. The problem with Mao was lack of precedent. Mao did not buy Marxism, instead he bought and sold Leninism to a nation that was not ready for it. So thanks to him, we now have precedent. In Marxist thinking, communism is the final stage in the struggle between the working class and the ruling class. The Communist Manifesto teaches that all of society must pass from feudal or monarchical rule to industrial revolution and capitalism and eventually to the overthrow of capitalists by the workers. True communists teaches that the workers' revolution will usher in two stages of communism. The first is the "rule of the proletariat" in which the Communist Party rules on behalf of the workers, building a foundation for the workers to eventually be able to govern themselves with true communism. Even though the Communist Party came to power in several countries during the 20th century, true communism has never been achieved. That said, China have taken a step back because it must complete the capitalist stages. I believe this is all part of the growing pains and the process cannot be rushed. According to Rodney Peffer's interpretation in his 2014 publication, Marxism, Morality, and Social Justice, “Communism is a specific stage of socioeconomic development predicated upon a superabundance of material wealth, which is postulated to arise from technological advances in the productive forces. This would allow for distribution based on need and social relations based on freely-associated individuals.”Many does not realize that one reason the US is falling behind is because its political structure is not equipped to manage the political and social evolution. On the other hand, China’s success in implementing capitalism and socialism is without a doubt note worthy. Although the CCP aims to achieve true communism in the distant future, I remain a skeptic.
