Would I Have Been Taller

Is there a legit way to get taller?

Wait. That’s literally all you can do, as your height is determined by your genetics most of the time, but in your case, it appears that your growth was stunted due to lack of sleep, and poor eating habits. When you eat, and sleep poorly, your body doesn’t have enough time, or energy to grow correctly. Instead, your body will grow to a height below your genetically intended height, meaning you standing at 5′3″ probably means you should’ve been about 5′5″, possibly 5′6″/5′7″ depending on how severe your bad eating, sleeping habits were.Unfortunately, once growth stops, your growth plates seal, and appear as if they’re welded together, meaning your bones won’t be able to increase in length, as your growth plates being stuck together act as a barrier. This is why surgery is your only option if you want to increase your height further. You being 5′3″ is only one inch below the American average height for females. You’d sit somewhere around the 40th percentile for height [1], implying that only 60% are taller than you, and 40% are your height, so it shouldn’t be a big deal.Don’t try any of the methods on the internet. They don’t work, and when you finish them, you’ll see no positive result for height increase, and this will just make you lack confidence even more.I suggest speaking to a therapist if it’s really causing you to become depressed, as there are literally no methods to grow taller apart from surgery, and growth hormone treatment (growth hormone treatment only works during the growth period).Footnotes[1] https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/se...

10 points: Could i have been taller :(?

I'm a Southeast Asian from the Philippines. I'm 5'8" but I wish to grow taller. In order to do that, I do it the natural way. I eat a lot of protein-rich meat and vegetables. I eat a lot of rice and I sleep a lot. I do stretching every morning. And I don't get fat. Growth supplements really aren't of much help.

And here's one other thing, wishful thinking! I'm not so sure if Chinese people are inclined with the belief in the power of the human mind. But it helps, I think. I read it from Vedic texts and Confucianism books. It's what the ancient adage says "What the mind can conceive, the body will achieve."

So think and think that you are going to get taller! Don't think the possibility that you might not get tall. Just focus on the image that you are getting half a millimeter taller and taller every time you sleep and every time you eat protein-rich food! Surely, you'll see the difference in no time.

Would i have been taller if i slept more?

I had a problem when i was 13 that i was attatched to my computer and talking to friends till like 2 30 am on week nights and i had to get up at 7 so i was very sleep deprived and i was quite a late bloomer. at 13 i was 5'0' feet tall. and than at 14 i was 5'4' and slept a bit more. 15 i was 5'61/2' at 16 i was 5' 81/2' and now i am almost 18 and i am 5'11' Through out high school i slept for 5 - 6 hours and made up on weekends/vacations. my dad is 6 feet and my mom is 5'2' and my older brother is six feet. Would i have been taller if i slept normally (8-10) hours. i really cant imagine teenagers getting that much more sleep than me though. But it does make me paranoid. i ask because my endocrinologist said that sleeping is essential for growth

If I didn't have scoliosis would I be any taller?

For minor scoliosis, you've lost very little height so I'd have to say "hardly any taller."

Here's a little info on scoliosis and height that I've replied to earlier questions. The second paragraph is talking about how much height you'd regain if you were to have surgery.

To tell how much height you've lost to the curve, pick a spot at the top and bottom of your spine and measure it with a tape. Then run a string from the top to the bottom but follow the curve of your spine. Straighten out the string and measure it. The difference in the two measurements is the height you've lost to your curve.

You won't get it all back, though. How much depends on how flexible you are. When your scoliosis specialist examines your back, bending left, right, and backwards will give your doctor an idea of how much curve can be recovered. If your spine won't straighten out, forcing it to be straight will pinch nerves and possibly paralyze you. So its far better to correct only as much as your spine can handle.

How much taller would I be if I didn't have scoliosis?

I have a 38 degree curve on my upper spine and like a 12 degree curve on my lower spine. I just turned 17 and I am a very late bloomer... I don't think I'm done growing yet but idk. About how much taller would I be if I got surgeryr on my spine and it was completely straight?

What is proper English? If I were taller... or If I was taller...?

Sorry, thanks for playing, kids. The subjunctive tense is really becoming rare because no one knows the style and usage of traditional English. When you have a conditional (if or I wish) for example, you use the subjunctive tense which means say, "If I were taller..."
