Would It Be Sad If The Whole World Became Westernized

Do you think the Western world is getting more and more morally corrupt?

Hmm, moral corruption. An interesting topic.I would suggest that we have a high level of moral corruption right now, where those in power become increasingly less beholden to the people that vote for them and more to those that pay them. That is a classic definition of corruption. The laws of the land (specifically the Citizens United rulings) made it even more legitimate for people to buy influence.Moral decline has been a complaint of conservatives in most societies in history. In Recency England, a lady who was seen walking or in an open carriage was a highly improper imp, while both men and women should wear gloves when out to avoid skin-on-skin contact with the hands - scandal! And as for a woman lifting her skirts to show her ankle.. well! That just wasn’t done. The fact that it started to become more and more acceptable was a sign of the moral decline of the country that was completely going to the dogs!People are always going to find something to moan about when society doesn’t line up to their expectations, and blame society’s woes on that. But it’s cyclical - sometimes over large periods. For 600 years (1200 to 1800) it was considered quite fashionable to show “decolletage” (cleavage). The Puritans at the time were decrying it, claiming that society was heading for immediate downfall (and probably the coming of the end times). The Victorian Era started the trend of decrying those habits until more recently. Maybe we can thank the Victorians for not bringing the world to an end!In the 1920s the outrage over the “flappers” with their drop-waist dresses (horror!), and the outrage in the 1960s with miniskirts (to quote from Absolutely Fabulous “I can raise hemlines so high that the world is your gynaecologist!”). And bra burning in the 1960s, too. The 1980s was the first time that workout gear became fashionable, to the horror of the conservatives.Even in the USA, you can see these cycles. Brothels used to be common and very accepted in society, especially in the frontier territories. Prostitution was not a crime in the USA until about 100 years ago. New Orleans created its first official Red Light District in 1897. It was only once the 20th Century got going that the “social reformers” decided to make it less desirable and eventually illegal. There are lots of other examples of people through history decrying current trends as a portent of the end of civilization. Even if it is, then I would question which is the cause and which is the effect?

Why is that people in the western world r so material minded than people in the east?

That's a stereotype my friend, Greed is a nature that encompasses all of mankind.

Why do I hate(non westernized) Muslims?

Mainly the Muslims who live overseas. They do nothing but complain and judge everything that is going on in the world. They deny that there is anything wrong with the middle east and swear that their religion doesn't do anything taboo or wrong They oppress women not only by rediculous laws but even in the Quran. Men talk about treating their women (and I heard this TOO often) "like queens". But most Muslims who have come from the middle east have told me nothing but horror stories about how they were raped, beaten, almost forced to marry. They say, they drink alcohol (even though it is haram). They see buildings bombed, riots in the streets, total anarchy. <--- this comes from what my Muslim friends tell me. Its not so much that I hate Muslims, I hate that they pretend that these things don't go on. They lie most of the time about how "loyal" they truly are. Yes, maybe not all Muslims are like this.. I understand that, but you can even go onto countless website taking about how much they hate this race and that country. I didn't know it teaches to hate in the Quran. It seems the women are too scared to talk openly about how corrupt it really is to be Muslim. The Quran talks about peace.. So why do SO many Muslims hate? It's sad. My parents never raised me to hate. The things I heard them say (with my own ears) and see them do (with my own eyes), are the reasons why I dislike them. We hear about beheadings, honor killings, and zina & sharia laws are all of it seems soo ludicrous that a religion is still living in the stone age. I guess this explains why the middle east is soo slow to progress. Someone help me figure it out. (and if you have anything bad to say I can honestly tell you here and now, I really don't care.. Just so were clear) I'm trying to better understand the root of why I feel this way. And please don't give me some bull about Sept. 11 (god forgive me and bless those souls) my dislike for them never started there, it started to progress a few years ago. Explain it to me. :)

What is your opinion on well-off, Western people who feel depressed because they are lonely and empty?

I think if u had a more fulfilling life you wouldnt feel that way. trying doing things u normally wouldnt do. i know it seems weird but just start a conversation witha random person and see how it goes. if it ends up being awkward just say "well it was nice talking to you" and walk away or turn away or whatever. whats the worse that can happen??? sometimes i feel like a little humiliation does me good, it makes you more secure in the long run. try doing things u would like to do but never did because you didnt wanna put in the effort. just jump in, dont test the waters, u only live one time enjoy ur life.
-now that i look at it again i dont know if u were talking about you.... but ... ya know!

Why does the western world keep insulting our asian eyes?

lately, I have heard a lot of bullshits from the damn hollywood. For example, Teen Queen making fun of asian by slanting her eyes during her MTV was recording, white, black kids at school making fun of our asian eyes. The funny thing is even the asians are being self-hate, going through some so-called beauty remake-up surgery. If asian females do it. I have no problem with it. We all know how asian females hate themselves in this western society. However, if you are an asian male who wants to turn your back to your own identity, I feel very sorry for you guys.
I am manchu ethnic Chinese and I was taught to be very proud of having slanted eyes when I was a little kid. Manchu and the mongol shared the similar blood line so we all have the Mongol eyes.
Now, I moved to this country seeing how these "western people" have been insulting my facial feature I feel furious. For me, if western girls hate the way my eyes look, I don't give a damn because we all know that western females hate the way we look. But,there is no way in the hell I am going to get a western eyelid surgery to insult my ancestry.
When I look at my ancestors painting, I feel pain and sorrow. Looking at their slanted eyes, a symbol of north east Asia nomadic warriors now has become a big fat joke of the western world. What I am saying is that If I am considered ugly If the way of my eyes look different from the "great" westerners. My second question is that I want to know if asian males, I mean Mongolians Americans, North East Chinese and Korean males feel inferior because of their eyes. Because I may be the one in the whole god damn world who only proud of my asian slanted eyes.

Is eastern philosophy "happy" while western philosophy is "sad"...?

Most Eastern philosophy has never lost its connexion with religion, and thus, even if it seems negative on the surface, it posits an ultimate sphere of redemption. Buddhism and Hinduism both start off negatively, but they show a way to proceed and an ultimate sense of peace. That attitude is missing in Western philosophy. Eastern philosophy also does not tend to ignore the non-rational components of human beings but seeks to encompass all of man within its sphere.

Western philosophy has tended more towards logic devoid of emotion and so what happens is they cut half of life off then try to explain life through logic alone . . . there are some exceptions, Nietzsche, etc. who emphasized the importance of the irrational as well. But modern western philosophy tends towards ultimate hopelessness, where the universe and man are ultimately at odds and can never be united. (See Sartre.) The Eastern version of existentialism ended up with Buddhism as a solution (initially it was a sort of applied phenomenology) but western methods allow no such solution since religion and philosophy are generally considered to be at odds with one another.

In the west we tend to ignore the unconscious mind rather than exploring it as well. Even split brain research (see Sperry's work) has not clued the philosopher's in to the fact that logic alone is more or less proceeding using one half of the brain and will not do to explain life.

Is Western Philosophy a Failure?

Searle is a great thinker, but he builds on the work of realists, who went before him. There is much truth in the old observation that western philosophy is a series of footnotes to Plato. I like what Searle has to say about the is-ought problem set forth by Hume or institutional and brute facts. I even find his riposte to Derrida somewhat profitable. Yet, I do not believe his system is tenable as a life philosophy.

What do I suggest as an alternative to western philosophy? For the record, I certainly am not saying that we should stop teaching students about Kant or Plato in American universities or colleges. However, it might benefit us to examine western thought in a new light. Maybe we should analyze it as one might study a cadaver. It is an object of interest from which many things can be learned, maybe even some things of benefit. But we do well to avoid treating western philosophy as a living entity, one that can provide ethico-metaphysical guidance or enlightenment.
