Would Life Be Better If The Government Ran The Usa

Is it better to live in Germany or America?

The choice between Germany and the US depends on what you want in life. Both countries are equally high developed (US being number 4 and Germany 10) but there are some significant differences in the degree of freedom, politics, culture and geography.

In the US you have more freedom: You can buy guns in a supermarket, teach your kids at home, live like the Amish, make a lot of money and pretty much say and write what ever you want.
In Germany (and many other European nations) many things that US citizens consider their rights are strongly regulated: You can't own firearms or even long knifes, you have to send your kids to schools which teach an official government sanctioned curriculum (so you can't prevent your kids from learning about evolution, even if you don't believe in it), health-care and unemployment insurances are mandatory (contrary to popular believe they are not free which means you have to pay for poorer people if you make more money) and there is some censorship to free speech (mostly concerning Nazism, hate-speech and violence in games and movies).

Politics seems to be a lot more emotional in the US that in Germany. I always watch with amazement US politicians and protesters who are accusing their opponents of being Nazis, Communists or both only if they want to raise or lower this or that tax. This is unthinkable in Germany, just as well as it is unthinkable that a German politician would say "I believe the earth is only 6000 years old" (Chancellor Angela Merkel for example has a PhD in Chemestry and is married to a Professor of the University of Berlin). And elections in Germany are publicly funded and not only with donations as in the US which means that German politicians don't have to be rich or spend an awful amount of time with lobbyists.

I myself am living in Germany and am working as computer programmer with a masters degree at a medium sized IT company. I get payed well but I could almost earn double of what I'm making now if I moved to the US. But I went to college for free so I don't mind to pay higher taxes now and also help out the less fortunate. Plus everyone gets a minimum of 24 days of paid vacation a year which I would miss dearly.

In conclusion I like to live in Germany because that country corresponds with my own ideals. The only thing I envy the US about are their always sunny beaches in California and Florida, Germany is rather cold and rainy...

If America became a socialist government, how would life change from what we now know?

What are some specific changes we would see and experience were we to have a massive across the board change from capitalism to socialism? anything for the better? What for the worse?

Thanks for your help.

UK Vs USA - What country is better?

You are talking through the wrong orifice.

We do not have "free" health care. It is paid for out of our taxes and often people cannot get the proper treatment/drugs because the NHS can't afford certain treatments.
There is NOT free travel country wide. It is only some local authorities who give free local travel to schoolkids. You certainly cannot get a train from London to Brighton for free.
There is a lot of poverty in the UK. Try wandering around areas of London, Manchester, Glasgow in the evening and count the number of homeless people.

Multicultural - define that one. Again, if you were to visit any of the major cities you can find areas which are more or less exclusively one race or another and in some cases are more or less no-go areas for anyone of another race.

Atheist - total rubbish. Just yesterday I had people at my door preaching and there are often (daily) people standing on the pavements handing out leaflets or shouting their religious thoughts through megaphones.
UK is a majority christian country with around 70% of the population defining themselves as such. Hardly a majority atheist is it?

Violent crime has been rising year on year with gun and knife crime leading the way. Handguns are banned not all guns. It is very very easy to get hold of illegal firearms if you want to.

Junk food. FFS, are you blind? You live in Brighton which of course does not have any Mcdonalds, BurgerKings, Kebab shops, pizza shops or anything similar does it.
"hardly anyone eats it". RUBBISH, why do you think there are so many overweight/obese people in the UK and why do you think the UK government is constantly banging on about it!!!

What do I think? I think you are a stupid little girl who has absolutely no idea what goes on in their own country.

What do you think American life would be like if women ran all government parties federal and state?

It would be a paradise with pink sidewalks and romance films made mandatory viewing at all schools.Every Wednesday would be Mani/pedi day paid for by our employer.Ok, in all seriousness, that depends, women are not all alike.Would they be like Sally Fields who claimed if women ruled the world, there would be no war.Or would they be like the Iron Lady known as Margret Thatcher?Perhaps Boudicca who lead a tribe to take on the Romans.Hopefully, not this woman. She was in charge of a governing body. The Legend of Elizabeth Báthory: The Blood Countess - Medical Bag

What would it be like if one government ruled the world?

All the better, provided that the basis of governance was social-democratic and liberal and within core principles such as free and fair elections, human rights, universal education (not necessarily schooling, but education), non-violent conflict resolution, and freedom of speech and of information. Such a fair world would be a wonderful improvement, especially as it will be led by Indians (the world’s most populous culture). There must still be plenty of autonomy for states under the umbrella though. But the world must get there in stages, not quickly. Before world government can be voluntarily achieved and be sustainable, (1) the gap between poor and rich economies must be closed by economic development, to the point where one’s probability of prosperity is not influenced by being born in one place rather than another. Whereas at present it helps a lot if you grow up in e.g. Zurich rather than Zambia. This will probably take 100–200 years.(2) the use of force by governments, and by rebels against governments, to attain political ends must become unacceptable - much as the use of force by individuals against other individuals is unacceptable now.(3) interactions of people across national, religious, and ethnic boundaries must become as commonplace as interactions within a diverse country (such as Brazil, Canada or Russia) or city (such as London) are now. This process has begun in the past two or three decades but will proably also take a couple of centuries. And (4) dogmatic religion must be displaced by experience-led spirituality. Some regions (Europe, Latin America, India and eastern Asia most plausibly) can come together before the whole world does, but some countries cannot join such a union while Sunni Islam in its present form, or the “only Jesus saves” type of so-called Christianity, dominate many of their people’s thinking.

Is the government hiding things from us Examples: cars that run on water, cures for incurable sickness?

I do believe they are, if not the government, definitely corporations are keeping things away from us!

How come a few centuries ago, locomotives ran on steam, but there is no technology for cars to run on steam, even though the weight to propel a car is much much much much less!

Why does the USA treat their prison immates better than their veterans?

No one cares about vets, but everyone cares about criminals and their rights. Once we have done our duty, they feel they can toss us away and never look back. But, in the system, there are those who snivel and whine about anything that a prisoner doesn't have, that they think he should.

Vets are disposable. From Obama back, once you go to war or serve, you are no longer useful. In fact, they may even fear you for what they trained you to do. We saw this most after Vietnam. But, it still goes on. Hell, from the moment you enlist in the service you become cannon fodder, thrown at the enemy, if there is one, and not thought of. If, by some miracle, you survive, they don't want to honor their agreement to care for you because it costs money. Since you are no longer their tool, they feel this is a waste.

They do the same for the elderly. If you live to draw Social Security, you have to fight to get it. Even then, they want to cut it because it is a waste. Never mind that you have paid into it all these years and they have used that money. So, you have Obama, and others, who want to cut the benefits back, when most can't survive on them now. Many people are trying to LIVE on $600 a month. Yet, Obama and his crew, as well as all politicians, have a lifetime income. While we may not be able to save, they have their own funds and savings.

This is why one man took a gun into a post office a few years ago. He knew, if he wasn't shot, he would be taken care of for life. He would have it better than those of us on the outside. In fact, they have it better than the people in mental wards.

But, since you are one of the few who sees America for what it is, most only see themselves, nothing will be done to correct this.
