How do I make my hair look good?

If your hair is pretty long, it's best to leave it a few days in between washes as it will dry out quicker. As long as you condition really well, and only use a tiny amount of shampoo at the roots, you should be able to wash your hair every other day, or every 3 days.As long as you are letting your hair dry naturally, and not heat styling every time you wash, you could get away with every day.If you do want to leave it a few days to let the natural oils build up, you could spritz it with water on the days in between, so that it becomes wet again, and you can reapply products to it.I can only agree with the other answer that says applying conditioner to the length, before you shampoo the roots is a good idea, as it will protect the ends from dryness, and damage.Shampoos and conditioners, containing Argan oil, like those made by Moroccanoil are good. You can comb Argan oil preparations through the hair, while it is wet to lock in moisture. You can do the same with hair serums. You don't need an awful lot though.For styling, if you don't want anything too weighty on your hair, products like Vo5 smoothing balms, and mousses are good.If you ever want to try a detergent free cleansing regime, which is said to be excellent for colored, long, or dry hair, try out Wen hair cleansing products by Hairdresser Chaz Dean. They are not the cheapest hair cleansers, but you can buy a few at a time, and if you are happy to invest in your hair, they are pretty good. His cleansers don't strip the hair of natural oils, so it retains its health longer.If you want to use a regular type of shampoo, or conditioner, the best ones are those that are designed for longer, or dry hair, if it happens to be dry.I think Loreal Elvive do some pretty good shampoos, and conditioners for a very reasonable price. To economize slightly, I often use an average shampoo, and more expensive, high, quality conditioner. Many shampoos contains similar ingredients, even if they are more expensive.Kerastase makes some excellent conditioners, and treatment masks.Letting your hair dry naturally is very good for its health, if you have long hair. Regular trimming of the tips is good too. Using an intensive hair mask, once a week, is also very good. Steer away from alcohol based products if you can, as they tend to dry the hair.

Well, first it looked like this.Then it looked like this.That only lasted for a few minutes before it went to this:And then it started to grow out and I decided to lop it all off.I do mean all of it. I’m taking a picture every day now to show how it grows out.Seventeen days later, it looks like this:I'm going to see how long I can grow it out before I get bored and lop it off to the first picture’s length again.

Why do I always feel like my hair looks bad?

I’m gonna throw this out there as a funky spitball. I’m pretty sure it’s not the answer but in the really low chance it is…This came up in a radio show I heard several years back but if your hair’s asymmetrical, there’s a thing with mirrors vs pictures and real life that can cause a great deal of awkwardness when you look at yourself. After styling your hair in a mirror to a point that looks passable, you’ll take a selfie and wonder why you look dreadful but can’t put a finger on it. when someone does your hair for you and you actually look fine in pictures and to everyone else, you may look in a mirror and find that it doesn’t look right at all.So yeah, if the way your hair’s parted/pointing seems awkward and destroys the whole image for you, the fact that you’re looking at it through a mirror may be an issue. Try snapping selfies instead and if that looks okay, then you know what’s what.If not, then…well, not much I can say, perhaps your guidelines on a good ’do are a bit strict compared to that of your surroundings.
