Can I put a SIM card in a tablet?
You do not need a SIM slot in a tablet in order to use a SIM in it. Many WiFi only tablets have boards which support cellular data, but just do not use the capability. I'll use my Lenovo Tab 3 as an example. My Tab 3 was sold as a WiFi-only tablet and did not come with a SIM slot. However, my board platform is the MediaTek mt6735m, which has a cellular modem. By editing the build.prop file of my stock ROM and enabling mobile network settings, I purchased a micro USB SIM dongle, which is basically a SIM slot which plugs into the micro USB port of the tablet, thus enabling the board to read the SIM. I am therefore able to use cellular data or WiFi on my Tab 3, even though the device does not natively support mobile data or a SIM.
