Would You Call This Trippy

What does trippy mean?

It's a term that comes from the 1960s when LSD was popular. When you take a 'hit' of LSD (or acid) you experience what they call a trip. It's like leaving reality and going into a world of delusion.
When something happens in real life that reminds one of being on a 'trip'-- i.e. when Homer Simpson ate the chili pepper and woke up on the golf coarse after losing sight of reality... that was trippy. The Butterfly Effect was a very 'trippy' movie because of the way it was presented. It reminded me of an acid trip.
It's kind of hard to explain if you haven't experienced LSD.
Listen to an early Beatles song like "I Want to Hold Your Hand" and then listen to one of their later songs like "Within You Without You". There is a huge difference in the way the two songs were 1. produced 2. written and sung and 3. influenced. "Within You Without You" was during a period when they were experimenting with drugs and that song is very 'trippy'.
George Harrison said it best when he commented that only those open to the experience will understand.
Hope this helps and have a great day!!!

What is this random, trippy mostly-animated MTV show called?

I watched this messed up show on MTV at my friend's house last night. It was at least midnight I'm thinking. Before the show started and everytime it came back on from commercials, it had the warning that says something along the lines of "suck it up, or cover your eyes", so it obviously isn't a kid's show... but at the start it had this weird song with random images of children and stuff that said it was a kid's show. It then started with the theme of patience, testing the patience of the viewers of the show in the process. And then it wasn't animated anymore at a certain point. There was this guy walking around with a blue puppet, testing people's patience and angering some of them. There was this one guy that put up with it. The guy with the puppet kept asking him to say "hey kids, it's important to be patient" to the camera but never let him finish. This went on for a long time and then went back into a cartoon, although it was still the same thing, still the puppet guy walking around annoying people- but animated. Then instead of patience, it was all about speed. Everything went by really fast. And then it was all about "funny!", and I didn't get it... random images and stuff. After this, there was a message varifying that the episode was intended to test the patience of the viewers and stuff. And for a second I thought this was the end of the show... but then it said that to make up for it, they would play the episode backwards. And it really played what seemed like the entire thing backwards at normal speed, all the way back to the beginning. And then the show was really over. Behind the end credits the episode was played in reverse again, but really fast this time.
What show is this?!

Anyone got any good trippy questions?

What if when we hear someone calling our name but no one did, it's our family trying to wake us from a comma and it's just to faint of a sound to raise us from our sleep?

What does it mean when someone says "trippy"?

An adjective meaning cool, freaky, groovy, amazing, or all of the above, depending on the context in which it's used. Although "trippy" is a fairly new word, the root word, "trip," refers to soft psychedelic trips and has been in use since the 60's.
For example:
Person 1: "Whoa, dude. Those yellow fractals in the air are pretty trippy..."

Person 2: "Um, I think you've seriously gotta cut the acid. That's the McDonald's sign."

What does it mean for something to be "trippy"?

When something is trippy, it means it’s a little weird, off-kilter, strange, surreal...The word comes from the 1960s when people were taking the drug LSD (lysergic acid) and going on ’acid trips’, which often turned everything you looked at into wild, spiraling whorls of colour and movement, a bit like how an animated Van Gogh might appear. The term they coined then to describe how things looked in terms of bright shifting and turning colour was psychedelic. But trippy has emerged from acid trip and applies to the whole gamut of experience in a less extreme way. When someone is trippy, the meaning changes altogether. You didn’t ask for the someone kind of trippy, but a trippy person is someone who is difficult, contradictory, manipulative, neurotic… it relates to their behaviour, not to their essence. It means such a person is hard to deal with.I hope this helps…

What are some trippy+horror YouTube videos?

I know of quite a few "trippy" YouTube videos, but I can't necessarily say that any of them are accurate compared to a genuine psychedelic trip. That's rather subjective. But you're in luck!  I know of lots of horror-themed and trippy-themed YouTube videos.  In fact, I have a playlist that I called "Trippin Balls!" you might enjoy.  It's a bunch of videos with loopy/trippy visuals: Trippin Balls! - YouTube I also recommend this YouTube channel: Psybrations - all of his videos have trippy visuals to accompany them, and he updates very frequently (almost daily).  And not to shamelessly self-promote, but I have a few "trippy" videos on my channel as well: Massive Attack - Black Milk Massive Attack (feat. Horace Andy) - Angel Orbital - Know Where To Run IAMX Nightlife Beyond that, try this - visit this link: about | electric sheep and download the software (I promise it's safe).  Then, watch the Electric Sheep visuals while listening to your own music.  It's one of the trippiest things I've ever seen (second to actual drugs). I guess if you want to genuinely trip out, do drugs first and then watch the videos (not that I advocate that or anything)! As for horror-themed videos, there are several channels I've been following recently that tell horror stories, or share countdowns of scary movies and videos:Mr. Nightmare Lazy Masquerade Corpse Husband https://www.youtube.com/channel/... (Be.Busta)HauntingStories Mr.Spooky Elastic Spastic Plastic Fantastic - This last one is the official channel of Shaye St. John.  It isn't horror-themed, per se, but it is trippy, and also scares the crap out of me sometimes.Check these out, and let me know what you think.  After all, what's both scary and/or trippy is a very subjective thing (like humor).  Hope you enjoy them!

What do people mean when they say that "Life is Strange" is trippy?

They mean that that whole sequence in the 5th episode where every character, all the Mark Jeffersons, the David, the Warren, the Nathans, are hunting you with flashlights through a strange melange of game settings as you make your way to the lighthouse; the part right after that where you wander down a twisted road watching frozen scenes with conversations playing over them; the part after that in the diner where all the frozen Arcadians from every part of the game accuse you of killing them if you get too close and Max has a conversation with her vindictive doppelganger; or that part where you keep going into different rooms in the girls’ dorm only to be teleported back to the entrance every time and replaced by Victoria at one point……is just like how they imagine a bad DMT trip would go.That's not even mentioning the trippy visuals…

Random trippy movie I saw at the bar last night?

I doubt I'll get any hits on this, but it's going to drive me bonkers until I figure it out.

No sound, I was at the bar and they had this movie on that had pretty campy animation... but anyway, it had subtitles (not the TV kind... they "came with" the movie).

From what I gathered of the story, they were alien children that had real people as toys. They called them animals, and they had necklaces on them to keep them from escaping. The main one escaped, and his keeper tried to bring him back and another one of his kind rescued him, and he stayed with them.

The alien children went on to do some kind of first meditation thing, that involved bubbles and floating and...

No, I'm not crazy, no I wasn't high. I probably would have understood it better if I was tripping on something though.

Reading the subtitles didn't exactly help either. They were in English, but none of it really made any sense.

I hope someone can help, lol!
