Would You Donate To A Gofundme Page If The Person That Set Up The Page Wasn

What is the best way to get strangers to donate to my GoFundMe page?

Write a Gofundme post that will help people understand their $$ will help someone transform their situation or someone else’s. If the post is a story of continuing a path or meeting ongoing living expenses, it is unlikely to catch fire. So the “story” is essential. Then, here are a few ideas based on how I’ve been drawn to notice different gofundme pages:write an article on Medium or Quora about the topic and include a link. But be careful: no one wants be sold anything. So, if you are trying to raise money to buy a park for the community, you might write about the value of outdoor exercise on children, quote the experts.Get local press coverage. If the cause benefits others, they may send a TV camera and add the page to an on-screen Chiron.Share the story with friends on Facebook, Twitter, etc.People love a compelling story, they want to invest in people who are going to change their own future or someone else’s. It’s not enough to start a go fundme page. People want to know that their $$$ will change someone’s life, not get them to the next paycheck. Wouldn’t you want to fund a guy who wants to buy a car so he doesn’t have to walk 10 miles to work, as he has been doing for two years? Or fill the gap so a person can live out their dream of hiking the Appalachian Trail, take their aging Mom to see her family for the first time in 20 years or help a family rebuilding from a fire? These are transformative experiences that move people.

If I set up a GoFundMe page for personal reasons, is it wrong if I'm not terminally ill or destitute. Would people actually fund me?

While you try to raise money to get yourself out of the situation by getting a better/ second job or other traditional means, you can raise some money through crowdfunding. Believe me, people have raised money online for much more seemingly petty issues. I have seen a few of them closely as part of my job at Crowdera where we have had many such personal needs fundraisers. However, you have to remember a few pointers before you get into it.Crowdfunding will work very well iff you have a few people who would be interested in helping you out. Not just by contributing whatever small amounts they can, but also by spreading the word around. They will have to put up the campaign on their social media pages, and make appeals on your behalf, etc.If that’s not a hindrance and you do want to go ahead with the idea. But like mentioned in all the other answers, be honest about your situation. Describe the reasons and circumstances that led to you this. Also, you have mentioned the need to move forward. Do you have any specific plan about things you could/would do if the debt was paid off? Keep that as the basis of your story and efforts. If you come across as someone who is just stuck in an unfortunate situation and may do much better out of it, people would be more likely to help.Try to give back something to your donors rather than it being a simple donation-based transaction. Maybe you have some skills that others could benefit from. Offer to do a few things for the donors/backers at a certain price point. Like, if you can sing well, offer to entertain them on someone’s birthday or other such special occasion for a particular amount.

Why was a GoFundMe page set up for this teacher? Why would anyone think he deserves any money after what he did?

I have an unpopular opinion, that kid probably deserved it.From what I read, the student was in violation of a dress code. No big deal. The teacher asked the student to leave the class because of said dress code. The student threw a basketball at the teacher and immediately began verbally harassing the teacher using racial slurs. The teacher is a black man so I’ll let you decide which slur was most likely used. The teacher took the harassment for awhile and repeatedly told the student to leave. After awhile he attacked the student. While I don’t think attacking the stundent was the right thing to do, the jerk certainly deserved it. He was so disrespectful, mean, and racist that the teacher probably didn’t know what to do and eventually snapped. As for the GoFundMe, it was set up by other workers at the school district because they know the teacher as a good man and good teacher that pulled a bad move. While I didn’t donate to the page, (I don’t really trust crowdfunding pages) other people saw the fight for what it really was, a fight to teach respect to not only this racist jerk but to everyone at the school. That’s why people are donating. As I progressed in high school, (just graduated last year) I noticed that respect towards teachers and even upper class men has been sharply declining. When I started high school in 7th grade, (my high school was 7th-12th) I distinctly remember giving anyone with a letter jacket, someone that was older than me, and teachers profound respect. That was not something I saw reciprocated when I got older. The thing is what can the school do? Give them in-school-suspension? In my school people liked it because you got out of class. Beyond that there’s yelling and expulsion. Yelling is becoming a thing of the past and you can’t expel a kid due to a lack of respect. The schools are stuck between a rock and a hard place. That’s how this situation materialized in the first place. Teachers aren’t allowed the authority to dictate how students act anyone and it leads to incidents where disrespectful kids know they can get away with crap and they do. This time a teacher fought back and hopefully the student got what he deserved.Hopefully that answers your question,Thanks for asking

What happens to funds raised on GOFUNDME if the person dies before it was given to them? Does the person who started the page keep it? thnks?

It terms of technicallity, once the money is raised, it goes to the person who started and managed the fundraiser. The same would be true of any crowdfunding site.
Once they have the money, its expected they'll use it for the intended purpose.

If the intended purpose becomes impoossible for some reason, then they would be morally obligated to return the money to the people who donated it.
By the terms of us for GoFundMe, the site takes no responsibility for checking how money is used, etc. Its all the responsibility of the person managing the fundraiser.
Legally they would be responsible for returning the money, and could be sued by their donators if the money is not correctly used.

Should we make a gofundme page?

my fiance and i are getting married, we were wondering instead of doing a gift registry, should we make a gofundme page for people to give money to our honeymoon instead, since we live together already, and have things you would ask for on a gift registry.

What is the best way to advertise your GoFundMe page?

This may be the most spam filled thread in the history of Quora. 305 and counting. Want to be successful with GoFundMe? Don't be like these people and spam completely inappropriate places with your funding link. Assemble your target list of people you'll be looking for funding from. Unless you have an interesting story that news media will pick up (hint: you almost certainly do not) your target list is your friends, family, fans, and personal/professional networks. There are not random charitable sorts just looking for a crowdfunding page to donate to. You will not be getting support outside of your own networks. Create a convincing and sympathetic narrative for your funding page. Remember, your friends and family already know you. They don't need your life story. Get to the point, and sell them on your unique need. (Pro tip: Get someone else from your social circle  to start and pitch the campaign. People are much more likely to support a community call to action for a friend.) Launch the campaign with a huge blast. Your first few hours are vital. You need it being spread around your network fast and you need a solid pool of initial donors. As more people back the campaign and spread the word enthusiastically, no one will want to be the one scrooge that didn't back it. Use the power of peer pressure. As much as you need to sell it to your closest circle to back right away, you also need to get them to keep blasting it out to on Facebook and Twitter and email and Tumblr and everywhere else. The message is much better conveyed by others than you yourself. Don't post your campaign to Quora or Craigslist or other inappropriate places.

What do you think of the donors for the GoFundMe campaign for the border wall?

Let’s add it up here. They’re sending money to this guy.Who they know next to nothing about. On the promise that he’ll donate the money to the government. And that he’ll make sure that they spend it on “the wall” despite the lack of any legal way to do that. And his target is a fraction of what Trump asked for from Congress to start construction, and an even smaller fraction of what it would take to complete construction.Oh, and the guy has a history of running right wing “fake news” sites which have been banned from Facebook.Six plus five, carry the three, and it comes up…..gullible.Which is sad, because there are a lot of places $13.3 million dollars (as of now) could do a lot of actual good.I’d give even odds that the money eventually gets “donated” to the RNC/Trump campaign in return for a vague promise that it will be spent on “the wall” as soon as they figure out how to do it, honest, and the guy gets a cushy job at the RNC.

If there was a GoFundMe for the US/Mexico border wall would you contribute towards it?

There already are a few GoFundMe pages designated to build the border wall. One that I just checked has raised $214 of its $380 million goal in the several months of its existence. Several months ago, I checked on some of them and the goals of each were a few million dollars. None had collected even $5000 from the often vocal tRump-eters who get worked into a frothy frenzy over the issue of immigration of primarily brown people into the USA.Seems that it may sound like a good idea when someone else is going to pay for it. When asked to personally dig deep into their own pockets, the idea of building a wall loses a bit of its luster.I actually moved to México, where I’ve lived before, a couple of years ago from the USA ahead of the presidential election because of the racist rhetoric, the cruelty, misogyny or most other policies espoused by then-candidate Trump. I do not and never have supported his policies, particularly the idea of building a wall to separate the countries of México and the USA. No, I will not contribute to the wall or divisive politics of hatred and racism that are all too prominent in USA politics today. GoFundMe page or not, I find the concept of a wall ridiculous and would never support it.

What happens if a GoFundMe page does not reach its goal?

GoFundMe is one of the only platforms that does not charge a fee if you set up a personal campaign. However, if you are a charity you will be required to pay a 5% platform fee.You will also pay a payment processing fee of 2.9% plus a $0.30 on every donation that is received. As the person setting up the campaign its success to drive awareness and attract donations will be mainly down to you. However, you will be rewarded for your hard efforts as you can keep all of the donations that you raise. Another great thing about GoFundMe you can draw down funds raised at any point during the campaign.Do not underestimate the planning and work involved. Especially with crowdfunding campaigns. There are three main types of crowdfunding but reward based crowdfunding has been the most successful in attracting funds.
