How do you convince a dealer to lower the price of a used car?
I also am not one to talk a car dealer/salesman down... I just ask for their best price and if I don't like their answer, I just say I can't buy at that price and look elsewhere. If they really want to sell, the salesman will give you a good/better price.
How do you deal with a person who constantly brings you down?
A friend of mine used to be very aggressive, with friends, colleagues and anyone she used to be with.Her constant reaction to most people would to be show them in poor light, or find mistakes in what they did. It left her surrounded by a lot of resentment, and few friends.One day, she did the same with me. Instead of reacting very aggressively, as she had got used to expecting, I simply asked her “Why do you this?”She was taken aback with calmness, and couldn’t find her footing. As I probed her further, instead of being angry, she became even more upset as the true reason came to the fore.“Aviral, I feel very insecure. I think most people are better than me, and how will I progress if I see everyone is better than me?”Translated : I am not trying to hurt you, I am only trying to protect myself.That day, I realised an important thing. Most people exhibiting this are doing it only for self preservation, and mostly never mean any harm to you (although they end up saying hurtful things).If they mean something to you, or if you are a good samaritan, talk with empathy. It will usually be an unresolved internal conflict, and you could help them resolve it.You will realise it is never about you, it is almost always about them.
How do you talk down a car salesman from a car lot for a better deal on a used Car??
Be prepared to walk away. If you want this particular car so much that you can't walk away, then you have no negotiating power and you might as well just hand him your wallet and say name your price. Remind yourself that whatever car this is, there are TONS of others just like it all over the place. Go on www.autotrader.com and look up that particular car and get an idea what they are going for. That way you know what the going rate is and the car salesman can't convince you that it's worth more. Are you paying with cash? That always helps. You can usually subtract 10% to 20% if you're paying cash. If you don't have cash, have you already gone to a bank or credit union for financing? If you haven't done this, then it's another negotiating tool you don't have in your pocket. If you already have your financing, it will allow you to name your price with confidence. Don't be afraid to name your price, even if there is a sticker price on the vehicle. There is always room to move. All you have to do is initiate it. Take a calculator with you so you can estimate things like your monthly payment at a given price. Good luck to you!

In January I want to buy a new 08 or 07 Honda Cr-v. It would be my first time buying a car on my own. Do you have any suggestions how to bargain a price down? And do people bargin down by hundrads or thousands? Thanks in advance for you help
How do u deal w/ a MEAN uncle in front of the rest of the family?
I'm the oldest and most wild cousin out of 23. I live 2 miles from my sweet southern aging grandmother, where our huge family gathers @ holidays, etc. I'm a young mom w/ little kids (2). My uncle is unsuccessful w/ embarrassing rude kids who are incredibly older than mine, but still feel bigger about themselves when they are bullying and tease my kids. SO! When I try to intervine on the bickering, I have this uncle who will YELL AND BELLOW at me to stay out of it, also stating that , "...you are a woman, you dont talk back to a man," when any situation is happening. When he leaves the room all of my family applaud me for sticking up for myself. When he's there, they remain quiet and hang there heads like they do not hear. What w'd you do, besides NOT ATTENDING, because I go for the sake of my granny. Believe it or not, this is a urban city near the Detroit area. Just so happens my family acts redneck. Help.
