Would You Vote For Someone Who Said Don

Would you vote for someone for President if they said they don't believe in Evolution by Natural Selection

Sure, as long as in the same sentence they mention being a supporter of separation of church and state. that depends on if they have done enough research to speculate on another mechanism of evolution of life.

It also depends on if the alternate candidate who does believe in evolution by natural selection, thinks that applies to economic situations....in which case I'd definitely vote against the guy who is using the theory to support cut throat exploitation and capitalism.

How can I lookup whether someone voted?

First, I think some of the other answers misread the question:“How can I lookup whether someone voted?”The question isn’t who they voted for, just whether they voted. In the USA, who actually voted IS generally a matter of public record, but not their actual vote. Theoretically (see end note), there is no record that can match a completed ballot to who cast that ballot. Now on to the actual question:Of the states I’m familiar with, the best way to find out if someone voted is to contact your local county elections department, clerk, or recorder (in many states, some or all of these functions are combined.Note: There should be no official record that can identify who cast which ballot, but there could be isolated, non-official records - such as a ballot selfie posted on social media.

What do you say to people when you say that you DON'T vote?

I say that the vote is your right, not a duty, unlike in Brazil, for example, so you don't have to vote BUT I would start by examining the candidates and their platforms and I would be really surprised if a mixture of the big 2 parties and maybe third party candidates wasn't an option for, most anyone.Don't forget that every election the ballot also deals with State politics and you may find the other things that are going to be on the ballot hereSample Ballot Lookup - BallotpediaThere always is an option to vote and not elect any of the federal level candidates, but the local elections are a completely different matter- it affects you, personally. School boards, state constitution matters, State tax matters etc, are all going to be on your ballot, and are all potentially affecting your way of life. Also, people died and sacrificed their entire lives just so you can cast a vote freely. I treat it as a way of honoring that sacrifice. It's obviously your choice, but my advice is to vote after a close look at the candidates and make your voice heard.

Why do people say, "if you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain"?

Voting is not the only choice we can make as far as participating in our own government. There are lots of other things you can do, but voting is the last chance people have for making their voices heard when it comes time to selecting who will represent us.

Government is made up of the people who show up. If you don't show up to participate, that is your choice. That leaves it up to the people that do show up. They may not be the best people for the jobs, whether elected or not, but unless better people show up to participate then that is who we will get to vote for.

Make sense?

Anybody can be mayor of a town or city. But we can only vote for the people that show up and run for the job. So the bottom line comes to your vote and if you don't even vote, then you have not participated in your government AT ALL and thus have no right to complain.

It seems lately we often vote AGAINST someone rather than FOR someone. That's because better candidates don't exist. Those better candidates didn't show up to run for office so we can't vote for them. We could even vote for YOU if you chose to participate in your government.

See what I mean??

If people don't like either candidate, why do they vote?

I'm not voting for either, as well. I don't believe strongly enough in any of the candidates to support them with my vote-- which I think is something pretty valuable to give to a candidate. If everyone just feels kind of "ehh " about a candidate and votes for them just because, then the people who voted because they could really see where a candidates vision was going and what it could lead to...their ability to foresee things better than I would be completely disregarded, and devalued. For the people who believe and can see how these candidates policies will help bring up our economy, our nation, I respect you immensely. I, however, am not capable of that and do not just want to throw my vote in because I did "eeny-meeny". That off-hand vote just knocked out the vote of a passionate believer on the other side. Let the people who know their stuff vote the big guys in, I say. :) I'm sure I'll get bashed on too lol.

I OFTEN HEAR PEOPLE SAY, "If you didn't vote, don't complain." DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE?

I believe that those who chose to not vote can not complain. After all, if you wanted to protest then spoil the paper, as these are counted too. You did nothing to change the situation, and you could have done. After all, the claim that 'my vote doesn't count' doesn't really hold water. Considering that around 35% of the country do not vote in the majority of western democracies, were all those people to vote they could drastically change the outcome.

What really annoys me is when people whinge about how their taxes are spent, but have not voted. I spent two years from when I was 16 to 18 paying taxes into government coffers, without the ability to vote on how MY money was spent. I also spend a lot of time in the USA, paying taxes on my house, food, cars etc. and (fairly) because I'm not a citizen I can't vote. So when I hear people who have that opportunity whinging but not voting, it really irritates me. After all, if everyone thought like that and didn't vote, we'd never get anywhere.

Personally, I think we should have a system like that in Australia, where you have to vote, or pay a fine. As long as there was a 'none of the above' box, that would be perfectly fair in my mind. It would also make the result a hell of a lot more democratic.

Why do people say if you don't vote you can't complain?

Almost 48% of the voting population didn’t turn out this year. Yes, the options were terrible, but that line of thinking that entails “You cannot complain if you don’t vote” comes from the idea that we the people, elect the president and vice president. In actuality, Article II of the United States Constitution makes no mention of we the people voting for those positions. There is a reason the Electoral College was implemented, and it is because our Founding Father’s knew that true democracy was bad for this nation. One of my favorite stories about Benjamin Franklin, upon the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention goes something like this:“What kind of government did you give us Dr. Franklin?”“A republic madam; if you can keep it.”Those men who braved the summer heat in 1797 did their best to create one of the most liberal governments of the time. They did not foresee lobbyists, republicans, democrats, corporatism or the many modern changes our country has undergone to be able to create failsafes for every circumstance. So the the last part of your question that is “If it is our right and duty as a citizen to vote then you would think it is the gov. right to at least offer us a better option to choose from.” is not applicable here. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say the federal government has to provide any candidates up for choice. So if we don’t like the options, you are free to vote or not vote. Throughout our history, many groups of people fought for this right and remember the hardships they endured to get it. Think of them next time an election is up and why it is important our voices are heard. On a last note, if you don’t like the candidates, write-in someone, anyone. Then you can say you voted, and no one can say you didn’t have the right to complain. At least you honored those who fought and died for that right that almost half the nation takes for granted.

They say that if you don't vote you can't complain. If the people I vote for win, am I still allowed to complain?

Allowed?!?!? This is 'Merica! You get to complain about whatever you want. Vote - don't vote. You can still complain. Voted for the other guy you can complain. Voted for the one in office. You can complain. They say that necessity is the mother of invention. Well guess who is the grandmother of invention? Complaining. However, your complaint holds the most weight if you voted and if you voted for someone else and the current joker is being too clever by half (an idiot). Maybe one week they stated clearly they do not pay ransom and then two weeks later at State that they did indeed pay ransom. Maybe they say if you like your doctor your can keep your doctor. When in fact you can keep neither your doctor nor your plan and they knew it from the start. Then you can complain because you bought something and found out it was a lemon. But you have to live with it for 4 years because that is what we did.So yes you can complain. If you do not complain then you do not care. A person who cares for nothing, loves nothing, and can be trusted with even less.

Do you agree or disagree with the statement "People who don't vote have no right to complain?"?

I disagree....voting is a RIGHT...and if you say that I MUST vote or be quiet, then you are violating MY right to vote or not.
There is something chickensh*t about that statement that truly pisses me off.
In this ''election'' there are NO suitable choices.Yet you say I MUST vote or be silent.
Who the f*ck do you think you are to tell me a godda*n thing let alone to make a choice in a race that I view as a foregone conclusion?
You presume that not voting is wrong...but since no ballots offer the choice of ''None of the above''....the next best option is to not vote. That is declaring ''None of the above''...There is no choice for me,therefore I will not vote for a candidate that doesn't address the pertinent issues I'm concerned with.

Would you walk into a store to find something only to discover it wasn't there and then be told that since you walked in,you Must buy something? Even if it is not what you wanted?
If you're a Liberal you might...but I am a free thinking man,and I will not make a choice where none is present.

Would you vote for The Rock if he runs in 2018? There is rumor that he is thinking of running and he seems like a very good, kind and generous man. Don't say yes just because you don't want Trump. Answer as though that isn't a factor.

The lessons learned regarding not having one versed in the art of politics has been painful and the ramifications are still unfolding as of today, May 23, 2018.The Idea that politics and politicians in and of themselves are inherently bad is an over simplification and the practice of crafting law, requires specialized knowledge like most any other profession. If you needed the motor mounts on your motorcycle welded, would you let me do it? Probably not, after talking with me a bit about the job. Personally, I would not do any welding on my own motorcycle, if I had one. Why, because I don't know how.Give me few months to goof around with it and I might figure it out after awhile. However it would not be pretty when I got done, because I am a rank amateur, know-nothing when it comes to welding.President of the United Staes of America is not a job for amateurs. People who come up through the House and Senate or having worked as a governor or whatever, learn important things about governing one can not learn elsewhere. They have respect for the job and the Office, amateurs don't seem to and know how complicated it really is.I have researched a set of laws back to the days when people were just thinking of making something law and the process involved at the time that lead to it becoming law. I also worked in the Capitol in Sacramento for one of the most powerful men in California politics at the time and it was quite an education. At the lower rungs of the political ladder, everyone is usually a bit green. But by the time one runs for President of the United States of America, you better have your shit together.I believe we have all learned a lesson, or at least I hope we have and we can at least agree, it not a job for amateurs.
