Do police sometimes send in under-aged people to stores to check if the stores are IDing?

When I was 19 my friends and I would take turn to hang out in front of the liquor store in our neighborhood and ask people who were going in if they would buy six pack for me. Most people would say no, but eventually someone would. (In our defense, this was in Illinois, where you had to 21 to buy beer; meanwhile you could buy beer in Wisconsin at 18. Presumably Wisconsin understood that if the government expects an 18 year to die for their country, they ought to be able to have a beer.) One night it was my turn. After several people declined, a middle aged guy emerged from a car. When I asked him to buy me a six pack, he sized me (I was fairly clean cut at the time) and then pulled out a Chicago Police badge. My knees went weak and my heart was pounding. This was it … I’m getting arrested. Instead, he said, “It’ll cost you five bucks … plus the cost of the beer. (That was a lot in 1970; I think that the beer cost less than $1.50.).” I handed him the money without hesitation and he disappeared into the store. While I waited for him I looked at his car. Sure enough, it was an unmarked police car. He came out pretty quickly, handed me the beer, and said, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” and left with my change. So in 1970, at least some on the police force were not wasting their time worrying about guys drinking beer who were old enough to be in the army.Meanwhile, from previous experience, the guy in the store would take one look at you as you walked in, point at the door and say, “Get outta here.”

Why am I not getting calls for job interviews?

I graduated with my Master's Degree in Social Work from a Big Ten University in May and since have applied for over 100 jobs all around the country and only gotten called for five job interviews.

When I go to the interviews it always feels as though I will get an offer. Everything goes great; I usually end up interviewing for over an hour and am always told how impressed they are with my background. Then, I never hear back from them. I always call a few days later just to follow up and let them know I am still interested. I don't understand!

I have tried everything. I have gotten professional advise on my resume and cover letter, changed my hair and wardrobe and applied for jobs that I am slightly over qualified for. Nothing seems to be working. I know that it is an employer's market out there, but 5 interviews to over 100 applications???

It feels like I must be doing something wrong.

What can I do to make myself more marketable?

What's a good excuse to tell my parents for getting caught with alcohol?

I'm only 17 and I hid beer in my closet from my parents so they wouldn't find it...well apparently they were snooping through my room because my mom did end up finding it and she went through my back pack and found a letter that I either wrote to a friend or a friend wrote to me talking about getting in trouble by my other best friend's mom for getting caught at a party...but her mom never told my parents. So now they're gonna be really mad and I don't know what to tell them. I wanna be honest but I don't want to get in any more trouble than I already am :( there's some other stuff they don't know about but I don't want to bring it up. Haha umm...my parents are really strict sometimes because they used to party and stuff too when they were younger so they know what goes on. If I'm 100% honest with them...I'm screwed. I don't know what to do :( (help??)

What is the letter format of a police complaint?

We used a affidavit form. The complaint was hand written on an affidavit so the person complaining was swearing their version of events were true.

I was humiliated by a cashier at a supermarket today. I'm gonna sue but for how much?

I was paying for my groceries with my food stamp card and I was also going to buy a bottle of rum with cash. As the cashier was checking my stuff she grabbed the rum and held it up and said in a loud voice. “You do know that you can't buy this rum with your food stamps?” The other customers in line giggled at me. I was horrified!!! I started to cry and I ran out without my things but I didn't pay so I don’t care. My friend says that I should sue and I am but I need to know for how much. This happened this morning and I'm still shaking!!!! I will never be able to go to that store ever again so it makes a hardship to go to a different store miles away Please help.
