Yahoo Answers Got Worse Incredible

Isn't the American education system an incredible failure?

Sign me up for your team - I agree with you completely. I'm a former teacher.

The sad thing is that it wasn't always like this. Our educational system used to be the best in the world. Somewhere along the way, we lost our focus. I don't think it's a lost cause, but we need to act NOW to save what's left.

Teachers can't discipline children who misbehave without the risk of retribution from the parents. When I was a child, if I was disciplined in school it was a small matter compared to what I faced when I got home.

Many teachers have gotten to the point that they just want to coast to retirement. They're vested in their retirement plans, and don't want to change careers even though they've lost the passion that put them in that job in the first place so many years ago. Many new teachers are there because the college degree is relatively easy to get, they get summers off, and they get to coach a sport. Now, I'm not saying ALL teachers are like this, but everybody must admit there are some out there, and they're bringing the system down.

Many parents use school as a daycare center. They expect teachers to teach their children how to behave. They won't help their kids with homework because it's the teachers' responsibility to make sure the kids understand it.

Few parents attend parent-teacher conferences. The ones that do are generally the parents of children that aren't having problems. The kids see all of this and adopt the philosophy that, "If Mom and Dad and the teachers don't care, why should I?"

Schools have become more focused on teaching vocational and technical classes, and less on the basics. As an instructor of some college-level medical courses, I was once asked by a panel of high school administrators what courses they should offer to their students to better prepare them for a college program in healthcare. "Should we offer Medical Terminology? Anatomy & Physiology?"

My answer was, "Make them take 4 years of math, 4 years of English, and 4 years of science. If they haven't done that, they aren't ready for college."

If you have a plan to fix the system, count me in! Let's start a movement in the right direction!

P.S. - Did you notice that the only people who disagreed with you on this wrote in very poor form, with no capitalization or punctuation, or misspellings and generally poor grammar? I found that interesting.

Is Quora a good version of Yahoo Answers, or is Yahoo Answers a bad version of Quora?

Neither, both fall into the general category of Q & A sites. Both are attempts at crowdsourcing answers, as many sites have attempted to do and continue to do with varying success:Comparison of Q&A sitesYahoo Answers has largely been operated more like the internet itself, a sort of Wild West resulting in mountains of flames, nonsense, incorrect information, joke answers, idiocy, incomplete information, opinions disguised as fact, trolling, a small number of good answers and a precious few excellent ones. I liken finding authoratative answers there to my son searching for diamonds and rubies in Minecraft, a laborius process requiring a lot of digging.Quora is by no means perfect, but is far more useful for obtaining high quality answers.Yahoo Answers excels if you already know a fair bit about something and want to fall down laughing from reading outrageously horrible answers. I mean actually falling out of your chair laughing until you cry. YA is a goldmine for this.

What is the worst answer on Yahoo Answers ever?

Here are some that I found. I’m actually scared that some people are this dumb, I mean, is this what humans have come to? I’m not very impressed… but these questions/answers are funny.

I got bad grades and my mum is incredibly mad?

I got 4 A's 1 A*,and a C in math, Physics, Biology and English.
I have only told my mom about the A's and maths, not anything else. But my mom is extremely uptight about marks and she was fine with the A's but obviously not math, because in her book getting a C is worse than killing someone apprently.

The constant lectures on how I have "disgraced the family" and I am a total failure who has made her have shame and she is beyond humiliated yadayadayadayada.

My relationship with my mom was never super great, as you can probably tell, she is not an easy mom and me and her constantly disagree about things which normally result in her calling me the living embodiment of all things bad in the world.

I don't really know what to do, because report cards are coming out next week, and the abuse she will inflict is a-coming and it is just going to get worse and worse.

Just.. how do I get through this?

Why is FedEx so incredibly slow?

I ordered an elliptical at Walmart on the 16th of March, and the original delivery date was the 26th. Waiting 10 days for an order to come to my home? At this day and age?

To make matters worse, they've extended the delivery date TWO DAYS so now it's due on the 28th unless they change it again. It's been 9 days and they still haven't budged from Georgia. I live in California. How do they expect to deliver across the country in 3 days?

How do I get job at Google or Yahoo?

Well, these companies are entirely different in what they demand and what they do. Here is a brief to make you understand the culture in these companies: 1) APPLE: Believe it or not, Apple is the toughest job in the world. It has very few perks to offer compared to Google & Yahoo and working hours are long and extensive. But hey, you get to work with the most amazing individuals in the whole world. And yes, if you are not an "A Performer", get ready with your resume for interviews at other companies. Key Requirements: Strong knowledge of C, Objective-C and Cocoa Framework. 2) GOOGLE: Google job is the most perky job in whole silicon valley. You work with real smart people on very innovative projects but most to all of them are web based. Google does not allow you to master any one trait and puts you on several projects at a time on small team sizes. Overall, working conditions are awesome and once you are in, Google loves to take care of you...!! Key Requirements: Strong knowledge of C, C++ and/or Java. Doctorate candidates are a huge Plus for them. 3) YAHOO: Unlike Apple & Google, Yahoo is more service oriented enterprise. They don't make many products and are mostly linked in upgrading their portals. A job in Yahoo! is not much fruitful if you want to excel yourself in software product development but is a paradise for any aspiring Web Developer. It gives you more perks than Apple but Yahoo is all more split into portals business and thus, doesn't give you much space for R&D which Apple and Google are popular for. Key Requirements: Python is a plus, along with strong background in Web Application Frameworks. Personally, its upto your ability. Getting a job at Apple is toughest, then Google and easy at Yahoo compared to the previous two. Go with your interests. All the Best !!!
