TO CUSTOMIZE YOUR AVATAR.

1> Click the “appearance” tab to choose your skin color, face and eyes, and hairstyle. Pick your eye and hair colors by clicking on the colored squares to the right of each image.

2> Click the "apparel" tab You can try on full outfits or different tops and bottoms. Mix and match.

3> Click the “extras" tab to try out accessories like sunglasses. sports and hobbies gear such as backpacks, bikes, and snowboards. Adopt a cute pet. Or try different hats.

4> Click the "Backgrounds" tab if you like the snow, the beach, or a nightclub.

Once you've customized your avatar, don't forget to scroll down to the bottom of the Profile page and press "Preview", and then "OK" in the next screen.

TO GET A PHOTO/CUSTOM PICTURE AS YOUR AVATAR.

If you want a photo/custom picture as your avatar you need to make a yahoo 360 account. http://360.yahoo.com/login.html?.done=ht...

The photo needs to be saved on your computer as a jpg file, don't worry about the size to much yahoo will adapt it.

1> Click "my page” (top of page).

2> Click "edit personal photo" (on the left above photo window).

3> Click “browse” choose the photo from your photos click "save", Set as primary and "save".

4> Go to your “edit my profile” http://answers.yahoo.com/my/my_edit click “use my yahoo 360 picture” scroll down and press "preview", and then "OK" in the next screen.
And your done.

Some users are experiencing a delay with the 360 avatar showing. it can take some time to show but it will eventually so try to be be patient.

Use a photo editor (like Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Paint) . The file size must be under 5MB (for blog/profile photos). You can make the dimensions (height & width) of the image whatever you want, as long as the file size fits under those specifications.

Paint is on most Windows computers with Microsoft software in the Accessories programs section.
- Open Paint, then open the image file from within Paint.
- Click on the Image Menu and choose "Attributes."
- RE-SIZE: Adjust the pixel width and length. OR use "stretch and skew" and just reduce the percentage.
- CROP: Use the rectangle tool to select the area that you want to crop out. Choose "Cut" from the Edit menu. Then, choose "New" from the File menu. Choose "Paste" from the Edit menu to make what you cropped out re-appear in the new file.
- Go to the File menu and Save As. Choose the JPEG option in the file type dropdown after you click Save As. A pop-up window will ask about quality, you can increase it or lower it (to help fit under the file size specifications).

Basically, Y/A resizes images just like Y!360. It's still going to be thumbnail size, but perhaps if you make the height or width dimensions larger, it will appear slightly larger on Y/A.

What happened to the yahoo! avatars?

"Effective April 1, 2013, we will no longer support Yahoo! Avatars." They have discontinued Yahoo Avatars to focus on updating the other product Yahoo Messenger has created.

When it goes on your desktop, then go to 360 and upload it like this:

►► Set up your 360 page if you have not done so already

►► Click "My Page" in the upper right

►► At the left, click on "Edit Personal Photos"

►► Click "Browse"

►► Search for a picture from your desktop (picture must be in ".jpg" format and be under the size of 5MB)

►► Click the blue tab labeled "save" at the lower right.

►► If you have uploaded more than 1 picture, click on "Edit Personal Photos" again. Then go to the right of the picture you want to set up and click the small bullet that says "primary." Then click "save"

►► Go to Yahoo Answers

►► Click on your avatar or "My Profile" tab at the upper right
