Yahoo Discriminates Based Upon Faith

What do you call someone who discriminates based on religion?

Bigot .

If someone who discriminates against race is a racist, is someone who discriminates against faith a theistist?

FYI, simply disagreeing with a faith is not discrimination.

What do you call someone who discriminates based on pec size?

A birdchesterist?

Is religious discrimination justified?

Have you ever talked with Orthodox Jews? I tried "dating" one once and she pointed me to a website that explained in detail why it so horrible to date outside their religion. Judaism is just another isolationist "we're right, ergo you are wrong by default" theism. They may not blow people up, but the source of their beliefs are just as irrational as any religion is.

Your point about whether it is possible to discriminate against those characteristics which can be controlled and changed is well made though. The key difference is the type of hate involved. In order to validate changing something, a person must hate that thing to some small degree. If they loved it just the way it is, then they would have no reason to change it. The difference exists if there is a rational reason for the change and if the characteristic can actually be changed.

Rational hate stems from that which can be changed. The clothes a person wears, the type of car a person drives, the philosophies - including religion - they follow. These are things that can be changed. They are not objective fixtures in life.

Irrational hate comes from that which can not be changed. A person's gender orientation, their genetics, their skin color. These are things that can not be changed.

Rational hate that promotes rational change versus irrational hate that promotes true bigotry is the difference between those that seek change from irrational philosophers (the religious, the KKK) and the irrational philosophers who expect the social order to stagnate in their favor.

Can I sue my employer for religious discrimination??

There is a coworker of mine who is transgender he identifies as female but he is a man nonetheless. I told him he should not dress as a woman as he committing sin. The employee went to the boss who went to me. I told the boss he should fire this person as I can’t work with him distracting me. In turn I was fired for my faith.

Enlisting for the Marines and religious faith?

They don't care what religion you are. What would get you disqualified is if you were a member of certain satanic cults. You'll fill out a form and membership in some organizations can disqualify you.

They don't require you to swear an oath to their god, you can swear to your god.

Is there a difference between faith-based and non-profit organizations?

Just wondering if there's a difference between the two, in terms of the government subsidizing them.

Do both kinds of organizations receive their money from the government in the same way, and are both unaccountable for that money?

What's the difference between the Full Faith and Credit Clause and the Equal Protection Clause?

The Equal Protection Clause means that a state cannot discriminate (Such as on the basis of race or sex, or, in some circumstances, sexual orientation) or treat similarly situated citizens different, like for example, its legislative districts have to be approximately equal, so one citizen's vote doesn't count more than the other. The Equal Protection Clause has a tiered jurisprudence, so classifications based on race, for example, are scrutinized more strictly, than, say, discrimination against hippies.

The Full Faith and Credit Clause just means that states must accept the records, judicial proceedings, etc., of other states, and that a state must treat citizens of other states equally.

Why is there so much hate between Hindus and Muslims in India?

I will speak only for myself!Yesterday I attended a Muslim wedding as the bride and the groom both happen to be my schoolmates and it's a love marriage.Scene 1:Bride's dad show up.Friend 1: Hello uncle. Uncle: Hi.Friend 2 (Prajapathi): As-salamu walekum. Uncle: Waalaikum salaam.Me: Namaste uncle. Uncle: Namaste beta.Scene 2:Bride's brother turns up.“Veg is upstairs. Have soon before the non-vegetarians (he meant Muslims) invade veg counters”. He accompanied us and made sure we tasted every dish.Scene 3:All the male guests hugged the hosts. Brahmin, lingayat, Muslim, Christian,Prajapathi, Gowda. Every damn person.More than 50% of the guests were Hindus.Do you see any hate here!?I am neither proud of any of the above instances because this is how it is supposed to be.I have changed 7 schools, 2 colleges, 8 houses, 6 different localities over past 25 years and have not witnessed any actions that shows hate towards any religion or community. We are brahmins. My dad's best friend is a Christian. My best friend is a Muslim. And my mom…well she doesn't have many friends. The majority of commoners in India are living a peaceful life with the other religions. There is a problem of mis-interpretation among the masses and the media is very well aware of this.We hate those who preach against hinduism, we do not hate Muslims. We hate those who slaughter cows. We do not hate Muslims. We hate those who destroy temples. We do not hate Muslims. We hate those who spread terror/violence. We do not hate Muslims.P.S: This is what I have heard. Correct me if I am wrong. Who are Hindus? All the citizens of Hindustan are Hindis. It seems even in Mecca the Indian Muslims who go for pilgrimage are/were addressed as “Hindis” because they are from Hindustan. It's my nation. It's your nation. It's our nation.Let us do all that is possible to keep it united.:)Edit: There are too many comments and I am not able to go through & reply to all of them. There are people with Muslim names who just agreed and sent hearts. There are people with Hindu names who disagreed and threw some eggs at me.You see. We speak for each other;) That's the beauty of my country. My answer is complete now.Lots of love to all of you in the comments section.

Christians and atheists, do you support the First Amendment Defense Act??

No, I do not agree at all, since by its very nature would negate the idea of the First Amendment. Freedom of religion also means freedom From religion and no group is allowed to practice their belief systems if it imposes the loss of freedom to another group.
