Yahoo Groups What Format Does A File Need To Be For Uploading To A Database

When I send an email from Google a/c to Yahoo Groups, blank lines are inserted after every return?

It is possible that the message being sent from your gmail address has formatted text (HTML) but that your group deletes the formatting (not all Yahoo groups allow formatted text).

You can tell if this is true in two ways: the first is that the message has a note "[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]" appended at the bottom. You may have to go to the group's Messages section to see this, as gmail hides your own returned messages from you. The second way to tell is to look at the group's home page. In the left column there's a box with "Info" and "Settings" tabs. In the Settings tab if it says "Email attachments are not permitted" then message text formatting (HTML) is also not permitted.

If this is the case, try sending the message as text/plain only. When you compose the message in gmail, click the "More options" button in the lower right hand corner, then select "Plain text mode". That should be more compatible with messages in a "no attachments" group.

Invalid Path message in Yahoo group files?

I just posted this for someone else:

I encountered a similar problem. I found that one of my moderators still had the old format (apparently, just because your group is in test, doesn't mean all the members are). She logged in and was able to change the folder names to not have apostrophes and then everyone could access the folders regardless of whether they had the new lay or not. If you are the only moderator, I'd put out a plea to my group to find out if anyone was still looking at the old format and then make them a moderator long enough to change the folder names.

I feel like I won the lotto with that one because we had to figure it out all on our own. I posted to every forum, help group, etc. anywhere I could contact Yahoo for 5 days and I got NO response because this is the most poorly executed implementation I have ever witnessed since I first joined Yahoo in the late 90s.

Yahoo Groups - cannot delete files?

I am 100% confident that I am following the right steps to delete a file on Yahoo Groups (note the I am the group owner for the group in question). However, I am not able to successfully delete files. Following are the steps that I'm using to TRY to delete files: Click MORE, FILES, then hover the mouse over the file in question and click on the Garbage Can (delete) icon. The file will temporarily disappear from the list, however when the list is refreshed - the file that I attempted to delete is still there. This has happened multiple times with multiple browsers, but have not been successful. I really need to delete some files, because proper maintenance makes the site easier to use for my group members. Please tell me what steps I need to take in order to perform basic file maintenance for my site. Thank you for your time, Marty. P.S. Although I am quite upset about this ongoing issue, please note that I did not use inappropriate language or use derogatory comments.

Can I revert back to 'CLASSIC' Yahoo Group format? Yahoo 'Neo' is SO Unintuitive!!?

I despise NEO!! I own several groups, one being a very active group. And I swear, the NEW format is SOOO unintuitive!! All members are totally "lost" in how to work any of the new page-links now, and we can't find files that were created from years ago. What a disaster! We are trying to look into moving OUT of Yahoo Groups now, and possibly to a different message board site. Most of my members are middle-aged women who are not the most computer savvy - Like myself! If there is a more recent update from Yahoo Customer Support, like plans to revert the groups BACK to the old format, please reply!

MS Access 97 - way to not allow backdoor entry to database?

Not so far as I know. The only thing the supersedes the "backdoor" is a File password, but there can only be one per file, so if they have to use it the DB at all they would know the password.

But Check the Microsoft Knowledge Base. There may be a way using VB Scripting (Modules).

Even if You DO bypass that Key, If someone knows enough about MS Access and has the file password they can simply "IMPORT ALL" the forms and such into a NEW database and bypass all of the setups. MS Access is designed for small businesses and personal use, so is kind of lite on the security...

If Your THAT concerned with security maybe You should consider converting it to a VB application. That would require BOTH the VB Editor to be installed on their PC AND that they have the "Project Files" for the application before they could see ANY of the background code (but they could RUN the application without either of those items). OR replace everyone's "MSACESS.exe" with "Access Run-Time" (it's a limited version that has no Design capabilities).

How do I create a full database of Facebook?

What do you mean by that? If you’re talking about extracting all the data from FB, well, you can’t (unless you’re a really good hacker). If you want to use Facebook data in say some sort of application - you can use facebook’s API to request data from users who give explicit permission. This is why if you sign up for any app that uses facebook for their user accounts (good example is Spotify) - you must first be re-directed to FB to give your permission.Facebook has pretty strict standards on what you can use and how you can use their data (yes it is in fact theirs - read the fine print). And they will swiftly prosecute anyone who tries to steal it.Hope that answers your question.
