Yahoo Mail Search Fails To Find Most Messages

Yahoo email search not working?

Yahoo email search stopped working for me today. When I search using "from:" or "to:" or when I search using arbitrary text strings that I know are contained in past emails, it tells me "No results found". Apparently this is a recurring problem with other Yahoo users that goes back for years. Please help.

What happened to the Refine Search option on Yahoo mail?

There used to be an option in Yahoo mail (at least the old version) where you could search and then refine by various things, i.e. year, folder, etc. Does anyone know where that option went or if they are going to reinstate it?

Yahoo Mail Search not working properly?

3/2/2011:
I have been using Yahoo Mail for a long time and recently I have been having this problem.
When I say recent, its been about an year. The issue is that the search functionality (a textbox on the top left just below the Check Mail button) doesn't work properly. i.e. I don't find the results all the time. I know for sure that I got an email from "John" 2 year ago and I type his name but the search doesn't return any emails from him. It's so annoying that you cannot even search your emails with confidence. I scroll down to the appropriate date and there I find the email. I now copy the From email id and paste it to search again and i get the message "No emails were found matching your search". Searching is a very basic functionality for an email program and if that doesn't work, I don't know what to say about yahoo.

How do you mass delete emails on Yahoo Mail?

Presuming you’re using Yahoo Mail on your PC/laptop, this is the method that I use. Also I find it easier to use the old Yahoo email, rather than the “new”.Sort your emails in “Ascending Order”. That way, you’re looking at the oldest first.Look through and make certain that any email you’ve starred or emails from family, etc. that you might want to keep — mark those and put them in a Keep folder. Otherwise, click the Select All button. Then click the Delete button. Or even better the Spam button. This is not a very speedy way to go, because Yahoo shows you only about 50 messages at a time. But after doing this 20 or so times, you’ll find you’ve made quite a dent in those emails that build up.I’ve heard there’s a way to filter e-mails that are over, say, 6 months old, but I can’t find the setting. If anybody knows where that is, please let me know.Thank you, and best of luck!

How to sort Yahoo Mail inbox by sender?

i have found three ways to sort by sender.

One is, type their name into the search bar.

The second is, while the message list is displayed, hover over the message line. Part of the sender's name will be replaced with 3 icons, the first one - furthest to the left - will be a magnifying glass. Click the magnifying glass to display a list of emails from that Sender.

For the third option you will need to disable the Conversations feature. Conversations is when Yahoo groups or threads multiple emails together into one email. To disable this feature:

Hover over the gear icon in the upper-right corner
Select Settings
From the list on the left, select Viewing email
Locate Enable Conversations and uncheck the box to disable this feature
Click Save

After you do that, you can click View and a menu will appear with an option to Sort by Sender. View is located at the right side of the compose bar. Note: You must first disable the Conversations feature or nothing will happen when you click View.
