Why might Yahoo!'s business change over time?

Yahoo has made changes in the past based on very shallow financial considerations and it has become a place for change for its own sake.  This has caused a once very good site to degrade a lot over a few years.  They might make changes for the long term future of the place when they become desperate.  They once had a mail program that IMHO was a lot better than Outlook.  They've all but destroyed that.  They once had a pretty good news feed that was customizable and mostly true and to the point.  First they junked it up with celebrity news stories.  Later they added fake news sites like 'Answers' to the mix.  Finally, they have added in a lot of Fox News and Huffington Post editorials disquised as news.  They once had an entertaining forum called Yahoo Life or something.  It was a group of horoscopes, advice columns, sports stats, economic data, comic strips and stuff like that.   It could be accessed under 'My Yahoo.'  That's been changed beyond recognition and made mostly useless.   When enough people leave, they'll fix it.  Until then, they will continue down this silly path.  For enough people to leave, there has to be a content driven home page that is a whole lot better, and I haven't seen one, though MSN is a competitor.
