Yahoo Trying To Force Location Service On Me

Why am I getting the "SBC Yahoo! Service Cancellation" message when I try to access my other Yahoo account?

Sorry, this is only a partial answer. I too got a message today when I tried to log in to my Yahoo account that I have held for about as long as Yahoo has been around. Years ago, I used Prodigy.net as my ISP and they became SBC, which sent me an upgrade kit. Unfortunately, I set up my SBC Yahoo account with the same email name as my existing Yahoo name, which made the new SBC Yahoo email the primary, and the older original Yahoo email ID as secondary. Later, I left SBC for Road Runner, but my old email account with Yahoo was still in force so everything was fine for several years.

Apparently SBC Yahoo merges, or adds an existing Yahoo email account as a "Profile" to the SBC email account and both exist. However, since the AT&T merger, SBC seems to be cleaning their data base, and cancelling their old inactive SBC Yahoo accounts. Since the SBC Yahoo account became the primary email account, when they cancelled the SBC Yahoo account, it also cancelled my secondary Yahoo email account that I had years before SBC was on the scene. Worse yet, I can't find ANY WAY to contact an SBC customer service online help or YAHOO online help since they always require the email address and password that SBC just cancelled yesterday!! I'm not through looking for a solution, I just don't have one yet.

Sorry for the wordiness. But maybe if we explain all the ins and outs of our individual experiences we can find a common thread and find and share a way to get to an SBC or Yahoo help source. I have Years of return email addresses that I desperately need to retrieve from my cancelled account!

Yahoo weather wrong location?

I'm on a satellite internet hookup, Yahoo weather thinks I am alternatively in Virginia or Texas, neither of which is even close. I have saved my actual location in the Yahoo Weather location setup, but I want it to load each time My Yahoo loads, or page refreshes. Instead I get the Yahoo detected IP, which is quite wrong. Any ideas?

How can I stop Yahoo from trying to force me to change my password etc, every time I try to log in ?

My password is fine .... I DON'Twant to change it.
I DON'T want to give Yahoo a mobile number.
I DON'T want to go through all that garbage before I can to my mail.
Anybody know how to by-pass those silly messages and go directly to mail

Can my employer force me to work at a different location?

I am being forced to relocate to a location that is three times further away from my home in minutes and five times the drive in miles. I am not being granted an increase in pay. Furthermore, my schedule is likely to drastically change. I rely on a consistent schedule that involves working 10-6 Monday-Friday. This location is open 10-7 Monday-Saturday and 12-5 Sunday. Is there anything reasonable I can do to fight this? I am incredibly unhappy I've not been given a choice. My position is not being eliminated at my current location.

Can you track the physical location from which an email was sent to you?

There are basically two steps involved in the process of tracking an email: find the IP address in the email header section and then look up the location of the IP address. It’s worth noting that you usually won’t be able to get the exact location of the actual person who sent the email. For example, if someone in Germany sends you an email using Gmail, the last IP address in the header section will probably be the public IP address assigned to that user from the ISP, which will give you the location of the user ranging from within a mile all the way to the city or region level. The reason for the wide range is that the IP address that an ISP assigns to a particular user is normally dynamic. This means that the IP address they had when the email was sent may now be assigned to a different user in the region. This is the main reason why you might get a wide geographic area when looking up the location of the IP address. However, depending on what device people are using to send emails when using Gmail or another online email service, the last IP address might just be the IP address of Google or Yahoo or Hotmail servers, so keep that in mind too.Another scenario where you might not get any useful info is if the email was sent from a server on a hosting company data center. For example, whenever I get an email from Boxee, the originating IP address is from SoftLayer, which is a big server hosting company. That’s because the email was probably created and sent from the server itself.Find the IP Address for an Email in GMail, Yahoo Mail, and OutlookLet’s go ahead and take a look at how you would find the IP address in the email header for Google, Yahoo and Outlook since those are the most popular email clients. If you’re using a different email client, just Google how to view email header info. You can do this using one of these sites:Email Lookup at VerisEmail Search, Reverse Email Lookup, Find IP Address by EmailJust enter the email address in the empty box and follow the steps.Have a nice day

Yahoo has just locked me out of my own account, insisting that I change my password (just because they say that I must). Should this be a legal action by web sites? Is this similar to having government officials locking people out of their homes?

Do you own Yahoo.com? No? Then it's not "your" account. It's Yahoo's account, which they are granting you access to. Hyperbole about "extorting" at "gunpoint" and "forcing people from their homes" isn't going to help your case when making comparisons to changing your password on a free internet service. If you don't update your password regularly, it is at greater risk of being compromised. This is basic Internet 101. If your account is compromised, it puts other Yahoo users at risk, and forces them to spend time and energy dealing with your own incompetence in securing your account. This is why Yahoo, and most every other website Terms of Service, requires you to take responsibility for your own account security, and expressly tells you that your access may be suspended for this (and often, for any) reason.  Literally every time you use Yahoo, you agree to these terms. What would be a better analogy is why you think you have a legal right not to be forcibly ejected from some random stranger's private house after you refuse to follow their publicly posted house rules. I mean, if we're going with a house analogy.

Navy vs. Air Force? are the Navy recruiters being honest?

I’ve been in 11 years and I work in a joint service (Army, Navy, AF, Marines) so I get to see how the other services live. I’ve only spent 2 of my 11 years stationed on an Air Force Base. This is what I will tell you……. I’ve never seen anybody in the Air Force say the wish they would have joined the Navy, but quite often I see all other services say they wish they had joined the Air Force.

If promotions and money is your main priority then join the Army. They’ll give you the most money, the quickest advancement, and better benefits. If you’re deciding between the Navy and the Air Force then I suggest you join the Air Force as a 1N4 or 1N5 and you won’t regret it.

1. The Air Force has better quality of life PERIOD! E-4s in the Air Force usually have no problems iliving off base. I actually lived off base as a single E-3 because the dorms were above a certain occupancy.

2. Promotions You control how fast you get promoted in the Air Force. If you’re a go getter and willing to study hard you’ll make rank quick in the Air Force. It is no longer true that the Air Force lags behind other services for promotions

Also in response to a previous post. Marines are not soldiers, Marines are Marines, Soldiers are in the Army.

Can my employer force me to relocate to the same job but a different city?

He basically told me that if i don't transfer, then i would be fired. is that legal?
YES it is legal for the employer to do that...................

IF you decide to not take the position you will qualify for unemployment insurance under a "significant" change in your employment.
they will probably lay you off under this circumstance but even if you quit you would still qualify because of the significant change in location.

Was Yahoo's fate inevitable?

Yahoo is just lucky and would surely drop in future if they didn’t change according to world. I know you want to mean there are many great companies than yahoo. They just offer is email, blog and a search box. I think they have survived till now as they were popular tech company and internet giant at first but now there are continuously dropping. If they didn’t changed the way they are now they would not exist meanwhile in future. Luck don’t work always. You need to do struggle too. I hope i tried to answer your question.I think yahoo have failed because when they were top tech company they had way to get control to other great internet and tech giants like google, facebook , etc as well as co-founder stepping down from yahoo. Yahoo always had got problems. The reason for falling of yahoo in this days might be because of following reason.1.Losing out on GoogleIn 2002, Yahoo had the opportunity to acquire Google when Sergey Brin and Larry Page said they would sell-up for $1 billion. But when Yahoo's then-chief executive Terry Semel eventually went back to the reluctant pair to accept the offer, they upped their price to $3 billion.2.Not buying FacebookIn 2006, Yahoo approached Facebook with an acquisition offer of $1 billion. Mark Zuckerberg turned the offer down, but reports suggest Facebook's board would have forced him to sell if that offer had been increased to $1.1 billion. Semel refused to increase the offer.3.Rejecting MicrosoftIn 2008, Yahoo resisted a $44.6 billion takeover bid from Microsoft. Steve Ballmer, the chief-executive of Microsoft, tried hard to convince Yahoo to sell, but its board decided the offer was "too low". The next year Yahoo gave up efforts to create a search engine of its own and signed a deal to use Microsoft's Bing.4.Jerry Yang stepping down from the boardYahoo co-founder Yang stepped out from the company in 2012 to "pursue other interests outside of Yahoo". The resignation left Yahoo without a driving force , unlike other internet giants that benefit from the visionary and clear leadership of their founders, such as Mark Zuckerberg at Facebook, and Page and Brin at Google.Yahoo always have got problems and i think they would have forever. Thanks,NishanC
