Yahoo! Mail: Why can't Yahoo fix their email search glitches?

Search programming, especially natural language search is a very hard problem.  Unless you've tried it and succeeded, you shouldn't assume any programming "shouldn't be too hard".  Instead appreciate the wonder of the folks who've got it right, even more so from the experience of those programs that don't do it as well. Also consider that if it "shouldn't be that hard", then there would be no reason for they program in question to not do it well.  You can be sure the company and programmers are trying to make it function well.
