Semi-Formal or After Five means that tuxes are not required, nor are long dresses. An evening event (after 6 PM) would still dictate dark suits for him, and a cocktail dress for her. Well there are quite a few choices that you have: Time Period: choose something fun like the 80s, 70s, or 60s and tell kids to pick out the popular styles from that era. Beach: since it's getting closer to summer have all the guys dress in bathing suit bottoms and one of those funky tops and girls can dress as hula dancers Hollywood: You said you didn't want formal but possiblly for a future dance, lay out a red carpet and have fun! I'm going to tell exactly what you should wear.Starting from the top,Shirt- I think you should wear a checked shirt or v-neck,crew neck t-shirt,and if in confusion, go for plain crisp white shirt.Blazer- Now you will find lots of colors out there but go for either black or navy blue. It will complement that shirt or t-shirt.Chinos- Why chinos ? Because I guess they were made to be worn at informal events. They look awesome and if you choose golden,they just look phenomenal. But don't get confused with chino and khaki.Socks- You don't want to wear plain socks. Wear socks with patterns and textures. Finding them at affordable price is like a quest though.
