Yodiz Vs. Jira Which Is The Best Project Management Tool

Yodiz vs. JIRA! Which is the best project management tool?

I've used Jira, it was pretty good. I was able to add a screenshot of error messages when submitting issues. There was another sharepoint tool that we used, which didn't for some reason, it really it surprised me that I couldn't and I was told that they were going to add it in but they never did, so we eventually stopped using it. Never used Yodiz so I can't really comment. I was impressed with Jira but too many features by default made simplifying it cumbersome, the options were overkill for us but they could be just right for you. It's the system the head office of McDonald's Australia uses, which is actually one of the reasons we started to use it but eventually stopped. The reason we didn't progress further with it was mainly because people had already gotten into a routine on how to do things and it just sort of faded away. I mention this to reiterate the fact that even though you have the software available it doesn't mean its going to get used but since you've just started you can get it in early and get people to use the software. I'd discuss it with your team because it's success depends on them and if you buy it and no one ends up using it you've just wasted $20k, I think that's how much it cost. I do believe it comes with a trail period, so that's a plus.

As for the agile stuff, again you can have the software and practices available but if no one uses it you'll go back to the waterfall methodology, I know we did.

Which agile project management tool is better Yodiz or jira ?

Jira really isn't an Agile management tool.

And personally, I don't even think it's that great of a bug tracking system either.

Are agile project management tools like pivotal tracker, rally,  yodiz, etc., helpful?  Or is managing your agile project on excel sheet good enough?

I've never been a fan of any of the Agile tools on the market. I think that in moving to these tools we often lose sight of why we do the things we do.The big visible charts in Agile (task boards with stickies, burn downs, etc.) provide an openness and transparency that can't be found in a tool on a web site somewhere (where things can and will be ignored). While we want to focus on "individuals and interactions over processes and tools", many organizations spend months evaluating and trying to choose the "right" tool for them instead of just starting simply with post-its and learning from there. Tools on web sites are also really bad for individuals to gather around and interact with. Many conversations that need to be had won't be had if there isn't a common place for people to physically get together, visually look at the state of the world, and discuss what to do about it (or worse, these conversations will only happen over the tool!).And while many people will reference the benefit of having history in these tools, I find most teams don't go back and look over the history and spend a significant amount of time entering data into the tool that no one will ever look at after the feature has shipped. And lastly, these tools tend to become the centre of the universe and become the way teams measure progress, which is often in conflict with "Working software is the primary measure of progress".So if I can find a tool that will make things more transparent and open, encourage more individuals to interact with each other, while keeping the focus on working software as the primary measure of progress and not require me to do additional work to keep things updated somewhere, I might consider a move away from stickies on a board, but I haven't seen that tool yet...

How is Yodiz different from the other tools like Jira, Rally, Pivotal Tracker etc.?

Yodiz is a fresh new approach, I like the 'Dependency Tracking' for Stories. Pivotal Tracker is too much cluttered. Jira is quite legacy, I think JIRA+Greenhopper is good for large organizations. Startups should start with Yodiz , it has all that is needed for Agile development.

Agile project management tools - free or paid, which is better?

I am the CEO and co-founder of Nostromo. We follow the agile development process for many years now in every client product we develop. In our daily work we use Nostromo which is basically built to cover the lean circle and the agile development workflow. After trying out dozens of tool we knew what would be optimal, so we built our own product which includes all the good stuff we liked and is extended with features we missed.Beside the well-known kanban board it has also key features like time tracking or reporting. It’s easy to use, free and supports agile workflows! The basic project board is a kanban board, but you can separate the planning phase and the implementation phase as it has two separate board: The Plan board and the Work board. This is the Work board, with cards organized into columns and you can move them with drag&drop . Also you can assign project members to cards:The Plan board is based on the same logic. A great feature is that you can move cards between the boards with a click:This is the detailed card view, where you can discuss anything in the comment thread, create checklists for subtasks, and assign tasks to teammates bymentioning them:There is a built in time logging feature, so you don't have to use a different tool (like Toggle) for time management:We just launched our latest feature, the Screen module in which you can share and discuss any design you want. So you can avoid using a third tool for design collaboration, and keep everything connected to the project in one tool:And the tool is free too, as we are in a beta now. If you want to give it a try you can do it here: Nostromo.

Agile dev tool somewhere between Rally and Pivotal Tracker?

That’s exactly what Yodiz is :), Rally has quite extensive support for Agile processes but it may be too heavy. On the other side, Pivotal has sleek UI but the process support is quite restrained and bit limiting in certain aspects.Yodiz has flexible support for Agile Lifecycle Management from Epics to Issue Tracking. Additionally, we have spent quite reasonable effort to have optimized UI/UX experience at the boards and the backlog.Sprint & Release Management is made easier withAbility to control the UI, hide columnsUse Swimlanes to view by responsible, Epics, Releases or even by custom fieldsSprint Burndown charts, analytics and activities feed available at the board (don’t need to go to separate dashboard to track progress).Managing large backlogs with ability to sort by any column, prioritize stories with mutliple ways (drag n drop, position drop down)Tracking progress of sprints and releases visually using Gantt Charts. You can check more details at Agile Project Management Software for Agile Development and Issue TrackingDisclaimer: I work at Yodiz.
