What is the meaning behind Fix You by Coldplay?
FIX YOU, X&Y, 2005.Blythe Danner, the mother of Gwyneth Paltrow, and former mother-in-law of Chris Martin, stated in an interview that Martin 'wrote the song for Gwyneth when her father died and I weep every time I hear it'.When writing the song, vocalist Chris originally intended to use a church-style organ for the track. Unable to gain access to the instrument, Martin instead used an old keyboard that his late father-in-law, Bruce Paltrow, to whom the song is dedicated, gave to his daughter. Line by line interpretation."When you try your best, but you don't succeed When you get what you want, but not what you need When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep" refers to a huge struggle for attention, to be understood and really seen by the other is could be your lover. Expectations which did not come true."Stuck in reverse" means that when everything in your life is backwards and you feel like you're drowning in failure. When everything is opposite of how it should be.Gwyneth was really sad when she returned home to Martin. She was crying. "Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones" means the lights will guide Gwyneth back home and back to happiness, that she will eventually move on from her father's death."When you're too in love to let it go But if you never try you'll never know Just what you're worth" meant that Gwenyth was too in love with her dad to let go of his death, and if she never tries to move on with it, she'll never know what she's worth. If she doesn't move on she'll always be in this dark pit of sadness over her father."I will try to fix you" meant that Martin will try to help her accept the pain she was feeling after the loss by being there for them, allowing them to vent or scream and shout and cry. That they only made two good albums; the first two. Well, actually the first is good, the second is OK. The rest is a pile of shit.Unpopular because lots of people don’t like Coldplay anyway.Unpopular because most fans like the third and fourth albums better.Unpopular because the average listener likes their latest and most shitty albums best.Almost as unpopular as the Quora Partner Program.etc. etc.
What do you think about coldplay?
One of the most inspiring bands I've ever heard.I collected almost all of their albums and I don't regret a bit. They've got music for every mood, occasion and taste.However, for some reason they just couldn't keep up with the same rhythm that made them special. Their music had rich lyrics and awesome melodies. They were beautiful, poetic and absolutely unforgettable. Until they decided to "evolve".It all started with Mylo Xyloto, although there were some clues in Viva La Vida. They wanted to experiment, they wanted a new sound, they wanted to take it to another level, instead they kind of disappointed many fans, me included. They focused heavily on "bright colours" and new vibe, which made their music not as appealing. You can pick Paradise, Princess of China, Major Minus and a couple more. The rest is... it just is.Please keep in mind that I really love the band, to the point that I often try to come up with reasons why almost every song was composed the way it was. But we have to be realistic. They've been changing their music way too much. Even within an album you will find a lot of contrast between songs. I still try to understand what exactly is it they're looking for. When you change your rhythm that much it becomes less special.Still, I remain a loyal fan. Mostly because I believe that they didn't lose it all. You can still feel a bit of their "golden days" spark in some songs(Amazing Day from A Head Full of Dreams is a good example). They are also pretty creative and hard-working. They might not give us exactly what we want but they strive to produce music with superior quality and innovative sound. That's what makes them uncommon. They get inspired by some new philosophy and they work their butts off to convert that into good music and please the world.In the end it's all about your taste really . They say that they've become too mainstream, but that's the one thing a band like Coldplay could never avoid, even if they kept the old rhythm. They're not just a band. They're a source of joy and inspiration.

Wow, I was surprised no one answered this well in my own opinion1. Parachutes for the rough sound and how relevant it is to real life. The songs High Speed and Shiver are my favorites on that album.2. Viva la Vida or Death and all his Friends many great songs that just flow together and again relevant to real life experiences. Favorite songs Viva La Vida and Violet Hill3. X & Y for being relevant to relationships and the aftermath. Favorite songs Square One and Speed of Sound.4. Mylo Xyloto great sounding tracks that take one away from life. Favorite songs Every Teardrop is a Rainfall and Princess of China.5. A Rush of Blood to the Head tracks sound less grounded, but still has some good songs in it. Clocks of course it’s what launched Coldplay to stardom and Politik for a powerful song.6. Ghost Stories it has same great tracks, the rhythm and sound just don’t suit my tastes. I do have some favorites though here A Sky Full of Stars for prom dance with a certain crush and Midnight.7.Adventure of a Lifetime sounds too mainstream for my taste, the album sounds great, it just isn’t for me. Favorite songs are A hymn for the Weekend and Adventure of a Lifetime.This is all in my opinion so take it as you will. Hopefully this can at least draw some interest in earlier Cold play Albums. There now someone finally answered this.
