YouTube's value offering is as simple and strong as is the concept of video clips that are it manages. It aggregates, hosts and let's users discover and play them very well, for free. It is the undisputed 800lb gorilla.Only where there is opportunity for competitors to differentiate themselves in the core value offering will they be able to prosper.In the world of video there are other touch points, forms of the media and consumption contexts - think of episodic TV, cinema and niche interactive TV experiments - not just video clips. It is these areas where the YouTube brand is vulnerable. YouTube is digital. Digital allows interactivity but YouTube has none. Why is there no real competition for YouTube?
Bandwidth is too expensive. If YT is still running it's because it being owned by Google, who haves own servers and infrastructure to not have to pay others for bandwidth. Unless a big company like that is behind, no chance for competition.

There’s really no good Youtube competitors out there, at least not anyone I would consider serious competition. Vimeo is probably the best non Youtube video site out there but it’s not even a comparison to Youtube and not even really a social network or the same experience as Youtube its really just a place to host videos.A while back a site called VidMe popped, up, different monetization model, it failed and is no longer around.Facebook isn’t the same experience as Youtube but a popular place to upload videos and get traffic, personally I’m not a big Facebook user.Lastly there’s a newer site called DTube.Video. DTube is an extension of Steemit it’s a blockchain or cryptocurrency type of decentralized video platform. You can earn money from posting on there but the site is glitchy, there’s not enough content, the earnings are pretty pittiful and it’s nowhere near what Youtube is from the expereince of a viewer or a creator
