1993 Jaguar Xj6 Valve Seat Question

Where is the fuel pressure regulator located in a car?

On fuel injected, gasoline engines , typically the regulator is located at the end of the fuel rail, after all the injectors. Look for the supply line TO the injectors and follow it to where the return is located at the end of the fuel rail. Some cars have the regulator inside the tank and more and more cars do not have a regulator at all but regulate the pressure by modulating the speed of the fuel pump.Older , carbureted cars do not have a fuel pressure regulator as the fuel only needs to be "transported" to the carb.

Why won't my car start after fixing a broken serpentine belt?

Ok so first question is the starter rotating the motor like it should and it just wont start or are you turning the key without getting any results. If its not turning over id first off hit the starter solenoid with a soft hammer a few good raps may dislodge a stuck solenoid. Now if the motor is spinning but not firing up my first place id look is the distributor wiring unless it runs coil packs then i would guess that you knocked the wires off the crank sensor or maybe even broke the crank sensor. I am at a disability here not knowing what the vehicle make is., if it died while driving because belt fell off and you ran on battery till it ran out of power. ( a jump start is the ticket in that case ) Honestly im going with the crank sensor or crankshaft position sensor.being the root of your problem because if the belt broke it could easily take out the sensor as belt flew around the front of the motor. But check all your connections and research the crank sensor ..its usually a cheap and easy part to replace if its in a area where belt passes by it that makes sense as to your problem. Ok let me know a bit more info if possible. Dont give up the answer will come

What could be the cause of a car’s temperature gauge to fluctuate?

There are several possibilities.1) faulty teperature gauge. In this case the gauage will have to be replaced. This is relarively simple and inexpensive depinding on the make and model of the car.2) Issue with the radiator, coolant of the car. This could be caused due to insufficient coolant, leakage of coolant, damage to the radiator of the car. This will require extensive repair. In this case, it is advised to get the issue diagnosed and fixed at the earliest to avoid engine damage due to over heating.Hope this helps. :)

1993 Jaguar XJ6 Valve Seat Question?

Hi James
i have to explain something here this is no longer a true jaguar but a Ford Mondeo with a jaguar badge. when ford motor company bought jaguar which was a failing company due to industrial disputes, that had to turn it around so both the old XJ and it's followers have Ford engines.
Ford engines have always burnt oil so the overnight sitting and smoke when first started the next day are normal things with a Ford engines not made to the same exacting standards of the old jaguar design of engines.
so you have to live with these facts of life sadly a old XJ 6 of the year 1970 was a vastly different engine. where number 1 cylinder was not at the front of the engine behind the radiator.
it was up against the bulk head.

How long does it take to repair a head gasket?

You don’t repair a head gasket, you replace it.Once I had a rally car - a bit of a ratty old junker if the truth be told - that had a 2.3 litre overhead cam engine. It was a bit like this, only this one is way nicer:Anyway I was heading off to do a rally on some Friday night. On the Thursday, the day before, I took it out for a blast around the lanes to shake down any last-minute faults, and blew the head gasket. It was too late to do anything about it that night, so next morning, I got up at the crack of dawn, stripped the engine down to the point of having the head off (it was OHC, so that involved also removing the cambox, timing belts, etc. plus the exhaust manifold, inlet manifold and carburettors) By then it was almost 9am, so I drove to the nearest big town - 25 miles away - to get a replacement head gasket set. 25 miles back, and by 10am had the head all cleaned and ready to be reassembled. Engine back together and running by 12pm, I then had to drive it 250 miles to where the rally started. It all went smoothly and I made it with plenty of time to spare. So the answer to your question, for me, on that occasion, for this car, was about 6 hours, including an hour to fetch the parts. Sometimes what you need, apart from the basic skills, which in my case don’t amount to all that much, is a great big incentive! As I recall, the rally ended in disaster, but that’s another story.

How much do most car engines weigh?

A modern aluminum four cylinder engine in a typical economy car will weigh about 100–120kg, (220-250lb) while an engine like the cast iron 6.7L Cummins I-6 used in some Ram trucks will weigh nearly 1000 lb.

How many cars have you had over the years and which brands?

My experience with cars has been quite eventful. I lived 16 years of my life out of 2 cars, both were Maruti Gypsy in India. One was my father’s official vehicle (1991–1999) and then on his retirement we got one for ourselves (1998–2011), and then I started earning, initial 3 years with 2 Mahindra Scorpio’s. And since 2009, everything changed and I’ve owned / experienced 11 cars, so total count stands at 13.Here’s the Maruti Gypsy:Later, when I started my career. I was in love with the Mahindra Scorpio. It was my first vehicle (2006–2008) which I sold due to my overseas assignment. Then back in India, I bought my second Scorpio which stayed with me for 9 months, and since has been with my parents as I moved to North America. (US/Canada). Here’s are my Scorpios:Moving to US, I was amazed when I realized the world was much more than I ever thought, and life is too short and there are so many beautiful cars around. So, I decided that I’ll drive as many as I can, initially I bought used and sold them when I got used to them. In between 2009–2012 I lived in the US, drove an Audi TT convertible for few months before shifting to an Infiniti FX35 and later a Mustang. My wife drove a Lexus RX 350 all these years. Then towards end of 2011, I was lent a Range Rover Supercharged by my uncle for 5–6 months while he was globe-trotting. I fell in love with it.In Canada, initially I got a Nissan Murano, while I established enough credit to get my hands on what I wanted. Later in 2012, I got a Range Rover Sport and My wife changed to a Lincoln MKX, which we later traded for a Tesla Model S.In 2016, we both decided to change, now I drive a Range Rover and she chose a Mercedes GLE, and to support our upcoming family expansion we booked a 3rd vehicle a Tesla Model X, which will arrive in Feb 2017.Coming in Feb 2017:Its been quite an experience driving all these beautiful vehicles. I feel fortunate living my dream, hope to dream further and keep fulfilling them!
