All Of My Truck Gauges Aren

What does gages mean on a dodge truck?

Gauges are on the instrument panel, and how your speed, fuel level, temperature of the engine, and battery/alternator charge. Its what you are looking at when you make sure you aren't going fast enough.

What is a quick way to tell if your car is overheating or your gauge is broken?

There are several stages to overheating. If you notice that the temperature gauge is broken and if the radiator fan is running in full power for a long period without cutting out is the initial sign that the engine is overheating. Pull over immediately at a safe location away from traffic and switch off the engine and open the hood/ bonnet to ventilate the engine. The next or worse stage of overheating before the head-gasket blowout will be sluggishness. the car will loose power and you might need to downshift the maintain highway speeds. when you feel this sluggishness, pull over immediately and carefully open the hood/bonnet and let the engine cool down while the engine is running in idle speed. after about 3 minutes switch off the engine and wait for about 30 - 45 minutes before you open the radiator or the coolant reservoir to top-up the coolant. Before opening the radiator cap or the coolant reservoir lid, it would be safe to first pour a good amount of cold water on the lid or cap to cool off the pressure (DO NOT POUR COLD WATER OVER THE ENGINE, BUT ONLY OVER THE RADIATOR) and only open the cap using a large thick cloth to protect yourself from steam flashes or boiling water splashes.

Oil Gauge is pegged on High and now my car is overheating, does anyone have an idea what could be causing this?

I have a 93 Ford Aerostar with has been running great till today. Actually it is still sounding and running fine but I'm sure something bad is getting ready to happen.

I drove it today and I always keep a pretty good eye on my gauges. I can guarantee that after the first 15 miles everything was still good because I had looked at the temperature gauge and it was perfectly cool like normal and I would have noticed it my oil pressure was running high.

After my 2nd stop I hadn't even made it out of the parking lot when I saw the Oil Gauge pegged at High. I immediately pulled around the corner to the "tire and lube" and asked the guy what it might mean, I told him I had not added any oil and it always rides right in the middle. He asked if it was making any noise and I said, "No". He said it might just be a sending unit going bad and said he would come out and check my oil. When he checked my oil he said it was 2 quarts low. Now one would think the gauge would read low from that and not high but "high" was what it read. When he added the oil he said my oil was pretty dirty and that maybe something was stuck or blocking it. He said I should be fine to drive home and I needed to change my oil really soon.

I got in the car and barely made it 1/2 mile when the temperature gauge started to climb. My oil gauge was still riding at high all the way home and my temperature gauge stayed on the high side, close to but never getting in the red. I shut it off when I got home and let it cool. After it cooled I opened the radiator cap and added some water while it ran. It took less than a 1/2 a gallon of water. The oil gauge was still close to pegged on high after I started it and after a few minutes the temperature gauge started to climb so I shut it down before it got too hot. When I turned the car off, the radiator that I hadn't yet put the cap back on shot over a half a gallon of fluid out of it, so I filled it back up again.

Do you have any idea what could be causing my oil pressure to read so high and why my car is now overheating. I would guess one is causing the other. Could my oil pump be going out? Or could there be something stuck or clogging something making this happen and I just need to change my very dirty oil?
Please help....

Is it illegal to have stickers on your gauge cluster?

I live in the state of WV and I was wondering if it is illegal to have stickers on your gauge cluster. They aren't in the way of anything and all it covers up is the odometer. Just wondering because I don't want to get pulled over and be fined for something so simple. Thanks everyone!

Why would my s10 gas gauge stop working?

Raise the vehicle up from the rear secure it by placing jack stands under it and get under the front of the gas tank to see if you can pull the purple and a brown wire that go to the fuel sending unit. Disconnect it and check that you have a good grownd to the frame of the truck. then ground the purple wire then turn the ignition switch on and see if the gauge goes to all the way full. If it does then the problem is in the fuel sending unite inside the tank. Drain the fuel tank into a safe container, remove the two metal belts under the tank, disconect the fuel hoses from the tank the filler, the breather, and both the fuel pressure and return, drop the tank and remove, with a screw driver or a punch and a hammer turn the ring holding the sending unite on to the tank. remove the unite and replace with either a good used one from a junk yard or go to dealer and buy one.
If the gauge does not work when you ground out the purple wire then the problem will be in the fuel gauge ,the wires, or voltage to the gauge.
