Almost Hit Someone Driving

Have you almost hit someone with a car while driving?

Yes, it was a close shave.

I was driving to pick up my sister from a night club and had just turned into the lane I needed to be in, when this young woman ran out from between parked cars in front of me.

Thank god I hit the brakes, she would have been a pancake otherwise..

Almost hit someone with my car??!!?

Well, legally, there was no damage or injury, so there is no fault. But, it would probably have been a good idea to stop and check to see if the guy was OK.

Is the issue her that you didn't see the guy, because you didn't double check/weren't paying attention? Or is it that you *did* see him, but you thought it was an all-way stop?

If you *did* see him first, it's probably his fault because he was going too fast to stop safely. Still, since you had to yield right of way in this case, you would have been legally responsible, had there been an accident.

In either case, you need to be *much more alert* when you're driving. Never assume that you are safe to move into an intersection.

Driving is probably the most dangerous thing that people do on a regular basis.

As a new driver, until you learn correct driving behaviors as a *matter of habit*, you need to be super-focused on safety. Even after you get more experience, safety should still be your #1 concern. You can never be too careful when driving.

Good luck,

Almost hit someone with my car?

No its not you didn't hit her she wasn't paying attention when she was crossing the road so shes in the wrong pedestrians are meant to cross at the zebra and people crossing not across the middle of the road.

I remember when i was giving my friends a lift down to someone's house, while there was a charity bike ride going on in my town and i indicated to pull up on the curb to park, and one of the cyclist swerved and fell of lol, I laugh because nobody got hurt, i was only going like 5mph and he wasn't paying attention and had swerve and lost balance, one of the other cyclist was trying to punch me throw the passenger window, but cyclist are meant to use the road lol. Funny when i look back on it I hate cyclists, every time I get held up by one i think of that and have a quiet chuckle to myself haha

If you make an error while driving, and almost hit someone, what is the best way to apologize?

I don't think you are supposed to apologize after a collision, at least according to the insurance companies. Instead, simply acknowledge that the collision occured and exchange your insurance information.

Is it a fine to almost hit someone? with my car?

If you were seen by a police officer you almost hit somone or by an undercover police officer than you could be stopped on the spot, would be done for dangerious driving or careless driving, if it was your fault.

If someone jumped infront of your while your driving and it was not your fault..it is not your fault.

Sometimes the police can add reports under your car registration, this is just for the future, where you repeat your careless driving or reckless driving or dangerious driving..next time when you are on the road.... they will stop you.

If you keep on driving dangeriously, carelessly, or recklessly, then be prepare for the punishment of losing your license or even worse going into prison..

JUST remember when you do 50mph instead of 30mph in your journey only your journey time by 5 minutes.... now tell me does it worth if you go into prison for that.. GOOD LUCK

SO DONT WORRY IM SURE NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN.. JUST TAKE YOUR TIME AND DO NOT RUSH...DRIVE WITH CARE MATE.

Is it a fine to almost hit someone? with my car?

assuming that nobody was involved except you and the other civilian nothing will come of this. If a police officer had seen the "almost" collision than you could be charged with reckless driving or something similar.

are you talking about almost hitting another car or "someone" cause if you almost hit a person, you better be careful

Can I report someone who almost hit me with their car?

If they are driving erratically, and you believe they may be intoxicated, having a medical emergency, or something similar which is causing the erratic behavior, then you should call 911, and give as much information as possible, such as make, model, color, tag number, cross streets of where you observed them, the direction in which they were headed, the approximate year of the vehicle if you think you know, and a description of the driver. If they caused no damage to your vehicle, reporting that to your insurance company would not be necessary.Good luck!

I called 911 because someone almost hit me with their car, and the police said they can't do anything. Will I get a fine for this call?

No you wont get a fine. What you should have done was note or take a picture of the person’s car or their face and note their license plate if possible. They basically assaulted you with a deadly weapon. Their actions, if on purpose, could constitute attempted murder. Even if they are not they could be charged with a serious crime. Here is the hard part- Proving it. Unless you have their license plate and possibly parking lot surveillance footage, which the store would be required to give to police, then you’ve got nothing. Call the cops and say “a car almost hit me, it was grey” they cant go around stopping grey cars hoping a driver confesses. If it wasn’t unconstitutional already it would be a major waste of time. If you did relate enough information to the dispatch officer that you felt action could be taken, then you should make a formal complaint and let them know you wish to file criminal charges. They would then be required to track down the license, arrest the person you gave a description of, and have you identify them. Then, in court, its your word against theirs. The system sucks but its better than summery executions every time someone makes a complaint, and lot of people make false complaints.
