Anonymous Hiv Testing Singapore

If I get a positive HIV test result in Florida, who is that reported to? Would I be labeled?

If you do get tested (in any state) the test results get reported to the CDC. They are considered private health information and are protected under HIPPA. That said, there is understandable concern about privacy when taking an HIV test. The HIV prevention agencies have been undergoing much training to ensure that results are delivered confidentially and in person by someone trained to immediately connect you to care. I think Gary Stein's suggestion is the best if you have any concerns. OraQuick is the test I know best and you can get it over the counter. I think they even deliver to your door, but if you look it up, you can find out. If possible, I recommend taking the test with someone who you trust and who will be supportive of you either way. It depends on the person, but sometimes having support and not being alone for the test can be really beneficial. Other times, taking it alone is exactly the way to go. Think about if there's a way that's better for you. Just some food for thought.

Is the HIV duo test result conclusive at 4 weeks?

As for as CDC antibodies test Elisa/CMIA/Rapid test for HIV is conclusive after 90 days.As for as some Expert or HIV specialist say that HIV DUO TEST or 4TH Generation Elisa Test is conclusive at 28th day. But still for any high risk they would specify to take one more test at 6th week.HUV DUO TEST looks for Antibodies + P24 antigen. P24 antigen will be THERE in the body till antibodies production reaches high level in the body. So if p24 antigen is absent in test it means antibodies have been produced by the body at high level. If there is high antibodies produced then test will pick up antibodies. And p24 will be at peak around 3rd week to 5th week.So in your case at 4th week (28th day) both antibodies + p24 antigen came back negative it means there is no antigen and no antibodies. This test is 99% conclusive. No body turned positive AFTER 4th week HIV DUO TEST. Still for the sake of your mind and complete reasurrance take HIV duo test after 9th week that is after 60days. This would be complete reassurance.I am 100% sure your test result will come back as Non-reactive or Negative.Always protect yourself and be in a monogamous relationship and avoid needle sharing. If your are gonna start a new relationship get tested and start it.Sex is ONLY for few minutes and HIV is FOREVER.All the best good luck.God bless you :)

"No news is good news" with an HIV test? NERVOUS!!!!!!?

I'm waiting to hear from my OB as I had blood drawn for the blood test they conduct in your early pregnancy for your blood type, for STD's and HIV etc.

I'm particularly nervous about the HIV test because I havent had one done since 2008 and had two encounters with a man with whom I used a sheepskin condom (instead of latex- the CDC believes that natural membrane condoms have pores in them large enough to pass the HIV virus) with. At the time, I didn't know the risks of using a sheepskin condom and now I am freaking out!

They drew my blood a week ago, Tuesday. We are now coming up on Thursday and still no call. They said it takes "about a week" to get results.

In this case, is no news good news? I'm so nervous every day that they will call me and tell me to come in in person because they have bad news for me.... :(

A quick question on HIV test - Elisa?

You are negative. Your antibody presence is less that .20 (.09 is about half of .20).

Edit: Sometimes other things can cause the ELISA to pick up (it can be several types of viral antibodies or proteins). If you were at 0.00 it would mean that you have no immune system lol.

Edit 2: After 3 months your results are conclusive. Rejoice! You are HIV negative! Now stop worrying about it lol!

When you tested positive to HIV, were you surprised?

A2AI tested HIV positive in February 1987. I was not surprisedIn 1979-’82, I lived in Philadelphia. I came from San Francisco. I had spent a great deal of time in Los Angeles, New York, Boston, DC, and Rehobeth Beach DE (a gay resort area popular with the guys in Philadelphia, DC, and Baltimore). In all those places, I was sexually active. I was versatile. With the right man on the right occasion I would bottom or switch roles back and forth. In 1981–82, all my friends from San Francisco, New York, DC, and Philadelphia were dying of AIDS. It was assumed to be a gay disease. The word was if you were gay and sexually active you had or would get it.I decided I must have it. I assumed I had it. I thought I would die within 1 to 2 years.I went out and bought the best life insurance policy I could while insurers were still insuring single men between 18 and 40. They wised up, at least in Philadelphia, and soon after I got my policy stopped insuring in that demographic. I bought the best health insurance I could and a disability income insurance policy. That was my plan for the future. Then I went back to work and gave it not a second thought. What would be would be. Simple.I didn’t get tested because there was nothing I could do with the knowledge. There were no medicines. There was no treatment. I didn’t want a medical record with an HIV+ status on it. I was already using condoms.Well, I didn’t die then. I didn’t die at all.By 1987, AZT was in the works. It was about to be approved. (Approved March 1987) My partner wanted us to be tested. I agreed. We both tested positive in February. Our doctor put us on AZT as soon as it was available.I looked back on things later and decided I seroconverted in 1982 after a trip to San Francisco. The circumstances and locale were right and I had had what I thought was the flu after coming back.So that was me in 1987 upon learning I was HIV+. Not surprised.

Should I use a 4th generation duo test or a 3rd generation test rapid HIV test at 90 days to consider myself conclusive?

Completely agree with Noriko Hansen.Either one would do.In Singapore, most labs now run only the 4th Gen test and no longer the 3rd Gen test. For point of care tests, I would do the 3rd Gen test purely for the reason of keeping costs low for patients. For completeness of information, I will tell you that there have been documented cases of Sero-Negative infections. In other words, people who are infected with HIV but persistently test negative on 3rd Gen tests. These cases are EXTREMELY RARE. I know this risks opening up a can of worms for you but like I said, it is only for completeness of information. For the practical practice of medicine, a 3rd Gen test at 90 days post exposure is more than enough to be conclusive.
