Anyone Else Getting Excited For Christmas

How do you stop yourself getting excited for Christmas in November?

Too late. I’m already excited. It’s kind of hard to keep yourself from getting excited. Stores are already selling Christmas stuff. About a week ago, Christmas music started playing on the radio. I love everything about Christmas so I don’t really care if I get excited early. If you really are trying to keep from getting excited, then try your best to stay away from Christmasy things. The radio is easy, just switch to a different channel. Don’t go shopping in stores. Though, you might starve yourself if you did this. Every store I know already has stuff on display. Hobby Lobby, Target, Walmart, and even Lowe’s just to name a few has either a big selection or small selection of Holiday things. Try not to think to much about it. It might be hard if you live with friends and family who are already excited and babbling on about Christmas.Don’t take out any Christmas decorations until December. That will keep the excitement at bay. Hope this helps

Do you still get excited at Christmas?

I'm not excited for Christmas?

Is this weird? I'm a (learning) christian and I do celebrate Christmas because it has always been a very important holiday for my family...But I realized that I am not excited at all this year for some reason. It hasn't really snowed this year so it won't be a white Christmas but I feel like that shouldn't matter. Why am I not excited??? I'm 19 and in college so I don't believe in Santa (obviously).
Is anyone else having this problem? Does the excitement for big holidays decrease as you get older or something??

Is anyone else having a miserable Christmas?

Oh yes. And I know i’m lucky in many things- healthy, got to see all family over last few days…But I’m married to a taciturn, miserable husband who goes on several-week-long sulks for no obvious reason. We’re a week into one now. Although he can lose it and light up like a Christmas tree if we happen to run into anyone who matters- guys from golf club etc! Any attempt by me to make a bright, cheery comment gets a huffy “mmm”; or a negative: “Look! Your daughter’s wished us Happy Xmas on Facebook” elicits a slightly offended shrug. “My son’s bought you a present!” gets an irritated “I NEVER wear ties!!” Weeks and weeks of it.There’s no answer. He won’t discuss, calmly “you always twist things!” You can’t appeal to sympathy (I’ll never forget one particularly awful holiday when I commented, calmly, “you’d be so much happier if I threw myself in that lake”, which got an irate “you ALWAYS turn it on me!!”)So yes, to your answer, I’m having a gloomy old Christmas, everything’s shut, no golf (AAGH!!)…Expect I’ll get back from Mum’s (“I’m not coming!”) to find him sitting in dark watching back to back episodes of antique roadshow!!

Do guys get excited about Christmas?

Every individual, men and women, get to decide how they react to Christmas. Some get depressed over the holidays, some treat it with apathy, others get excited about receiving gifts, others get excited about giving gifts. Some even just like to decorate. There is no one thing, excitement or apathy for all men or women. People have preferences. People get excited, or they don’t. Men are as much individual people as women are, subject to all the same individual cares: pro and con to the holidays.I used to like Christmas. I used to love giving gifts. That was my thing, I loved giving gifts far more than receiving. Now gifts are met with fear of not being adequate and constant judgement. Christmas has become a time of criticism and complaint. What I do will rarely be good enough. When asked what I want, I fear answering with truth because of judgement again. There must ever be the 2:1 ratio of worth between giving:receiving and it’s hard to judge that without knowing all the gifts. Because of that ratio, whether I like giving or not, there is always the feeling (and sometimes even voiced out loud) that I am not worthy of anything more. Exceptions to the ratio are met with additional responsibility and forced gratitude.Christmas was one of my favorite times of the year. I loved Christmas dearly. Now I will be glad when it is over and forgotten. Someday that may change back, no one knows the future. Yes, I loved Christmas. Past tense. I loved it dearly and was very excited every December.

When do you get excited for Christmas?

I love Christmas! I'm 14 but my Xmas' have been the same for as long as I can remember! As soon as it's New Year, I start planning for the next winter, mainly what gifts I'll be getting for everyone, so I've got twelve months to save up and buy things I know they'll really love...:)
Decorating the house is probably my favourite part of the festive season, except watching my family open their pressies and seeing their faces light up, I love that so much too :D I love putting up the tree and adding the tinsel and baubles and crackers and the angel on the top, and arranging the gifts underneath! We have a candle arch in one of the front-of-the-house windows, and paper snowflakes stuck in the other windows, which is an afternoon's fun to make, too :D
On Christmas eve we go to my grandma's and spend the day there, exchanging presents and having an early Christmas dinner there :) And on the drive back we get the Xmas songs tape out and listen to that :D
On the 25th we're allowed to go downstairs at 7.30, although I'm always awake hours earlier than that! And we open presents, and have Christmas dinner, (i'm vegetarian but my dad and whoever else is there has turkey) and play games like charades and board games, and have Christmas songs playing or whatever CDs people have been given :) And we watch Christmas specials on TV! And get the Christmas fruit cake out and cheese and usually wine or something...
I just love Christmas so much, I can't believe there's only three months until December and everyone else joins the festive feeling...:D
