Are My Chances Of Getting Into College Ruined Now

Will getting a C ruin my chances of getting into a good college?

A single C? You’ll be fine.I can’t speak for the top tier Ivy’s, but most good schools understand that applicants are human and make mistakes or have rough patches sometimes. Some even suggest that students give context to those times so that you may be “forgiven” for the poor performance. Also if you are applying to specialized schools and the C was in a class totally unrelated to the subject you are pursuing, it will most likely be disregarded. Hell, even if it is in a related class, but you made up for it later, it will probably be fine. I got a D in my sophomore math class and still ended up getting into my first choice engineering school, and its pretty safe to say math courses are related.Just stay in that 5–10% range, do well on any standardized exams, and you’re good to go.

Will getting suspended ruin my chances of getting into a good college?

Sorry, buddy, but I doubt the admissions people are going to care about the specifics or "unfairness" of your suspension. They will see academic dishonesty and throw your application away. I know it sounds harsh, but this is the reality of admissions for the super-competitive programs we all want to get into. My boyfriend got suspended senior year. Despite a 35 on the ACT, a 2280 on the SAT, National Merit scholar status, our high school's chemistry award, and outstanding recommendations and essays (I proofed them myself), he didn't get into ANY of the Ivies to which he applied. He's now at OU. (Not that this is bad, but he could have done much better if he wasn't stupid and caught with alcohol in his car during senior prom.) Basically, you're screwed.

Does Getting one D ruin my chances of getting into College?

Im a junior and I've always had A and some B's, but this year I struggled in Pre-Cal and finished out with a D. I go to tutoring 4 times a week for it but I still struggle. Im a NC resident and I was wanting to get into App.

Have I ruined my chances at college?

Long story short, I got into an altercation on the bus this morning and now have a 3 day suspension. What I want to know, is how does this affect my chances of getting into a good college? (I'm in Cali and am hoping to enter Stanford or U.C. Berkeley.)

I'm a sophomore and have an unweighted 4.00 GPA. I've never even gotten a detention before. I get on excellently with all my teachers, write a column for a local newspaper, am the assistant editor at an area youth art and literary magazine (and the only actual "youth" on staff), am a student advisor to the superintendent, have started volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, am being featured in the sophomore section of the yearbook, and just this weekend I scored the second highest score in the county at the Academic Decathlon competition- the highest score in the school history- and took home 7 medals

But now there's this suspension. How badly is this gonna hurt? Can I turn it around by making it a learning experience?

Will 1 B+ ruin my chances of being accepted into a good college?

I am currently a Freshman in high school and I have all A's and 1 B+ in Spanish... I am trying to to become Valedictorian for class of 2016. Will these first semester grades mess up my chances getting a scholarship into UCLA? I would like to got to Medical School and become an orthopedic surgeon, yes I know it will be hard work and I am all for hard work. What do you recommend me doing to help me prepare for medical school or getting a better chance in getting a full ride scholarship in UCLA or any college that has a med school. I know I have bad "Vocabulary" "English" and I am planning on working harder to improve it, so other than that what should I do better and what classes should I take in high school?
Algebra 1- A+
Drama 1- A+
Biology- A-
Spanish- B+
Honors English- A+
P.E- A+
These are the classes I have now, Next year i would like to take some AP classes

Will one B in an honors class ruin my chances of getting into Duke?

The thing about Duke is, it's an Ivy League school. On top of that, it is the most selective college in the country. In other words, you could have a 4.1 unweighted GPA, 2400 SAT score/36 ACT score, 100 hours of community service, and multiple clubs and sports, and still be denied. Someone with a lower GPA, lower SAT/ACT scores, and less extracurricular activities could get accepted the same year. No matter what you do, your acceptance to Duke is not guaranteed. It may be your dream school, but you need to consider non-ivy league schools as well, which you are most likely going to be accepted to. Selection at Ivy League schools is somewhat random, because most of the students who apply are intelligent enough to be accepted. However, these schools cannot accept all applicants because they receive tens of thousands of applications each year. So, in a way, acceptance is random.

Sure, you have a chance, but if you don't get accepted it won't be because of the B.

If you are going to be disappointed with yourself if you don't get into Duke, then you need to reassess your priorities, because going to an Ivy League school isn't everything. It won't give you a huge advantage when it comes to getting a job and getting into graduate school. Also, if you need to get accepted to Duke in order to feel good about yourself, then you need to work on your self-esteem.

Did I ruin my chances of getting in med school? Help!?

Okay so right now I'm in my first semester of my sophomore year of college. I have to admit my freshman year all the way til now I didn't study much and figured I could breeze my way through college but thankfully I woke up from that. I haven't been doing very well semester I'm taking Biology, retaking A&P; got a D the first time, statistics, spanish, and history. I don't think I"m doing very well in all of them except for spanish and maybe stats. My current GPA is a 2.8. I wish I was serious about college in the first place and really worry that maybe it's too late to even think about med school now. I really do want to be a doctor, I know I'm smart enough I just have to study and put the effort in. Back in high school I took an anatomy class and I really wanted to do well in that class so I studied everyday and got an A in that class. I know I can do it...I just need to know if it's too late and if not what I can do to get a higher GPA or if I should drop A&P so it won't look bad taking it for the third time....

I just failed two college classes. Have I ruined my chances of transferring to a four-year school?

My freshman fall semester, I failed three classes. Miserably. Two years later, I transferred to my now alma mater and graduated with my BA (with honors!)You absolutely have NOT ruined your chances. It does depend on what four-year school you’re planning on applying to (you probably won’t have a good chance of getting into a fairly prestigious school) but that by no means limits you.I don’t know why you failed and really that’s no one’s business but your own. Just focus on passing your next classes with flying colors. After failing, I tried incredibly hard to get A’s and B’s in my classes (and I succeeded). Prove to the future admissions committee that it was a one time deal, prove that you can put in the work and be successful, and prove that you don’t let two failed classes burden you from doing well in your others. Best of luck.

Will a D+ in pre calculus ruin my chances of getting into a good college?

Obviously, colleges don't like to see Ds or Cs on transcripts. However, if you really work hard and improve your grade by the end of second semester, they might look at it a little more favorably.

Also, keep in mind that the medical field is really comprised of two things: math and science. If you already know you're not naturally a "math person," you might want to think deeply about whether medicine is the right field for you. It's not impossible, but know that you're going to have to take a ton of difficult statistics and calculus classes if you want to get into medical school.

Hope this helps, and good luck! :)
