Best Credit Card To Start And Build Credit With

Best credit card to build credit with?

Capital one has a program like that. You send them $99.00 (may be more now) as a deposit plus $75.00 fee. The $99.00 is refundable, the $75.00 fee you don't get back, of course. Buy whatever you were going to buy anyway with the credit card, but make sure to pay off the balance at the end of the month so you won't get charged interest. And they report that you are paying to the credit agencies. After a few months you will start to get regular credit card offers and you won't need that capital one card any more. Cancel it and get your $99.00 back. Another thing you can do also is get a store credit card that will also report to the credit agencies like JB robinson jewelry stores. A real big way to boost your score is to finance a car. Even if you have the money to buy the car outright, finance about $2000.00 worth and they will report that you are paying every month and your score will improve big time. Good Luck

Best credit card to build credit score?

If your goal is to truly build up your score for good reasons then you need 2 or 3 more cards. Get a Walmart card or other department store card. With no negative information on your bureau then you should be able to qualify, even with a low limit. Some banks are OK with a low score if you have no negative information and the account you do have is over a year old. I have heard that Discover is sometimes OK with no negative information and an account which is at least a year and a half old and good income.

Try for a store card that later can be upgraded into a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover card. Examples are Gap, Meijer, TJ Maxx, and Walmart.

Also you could try for one with a bank like Capital One for a Visa or MasterCard. You can use thier preselection/prescreening process to see if they qualify you for a card. (Read what it says carefully during the process. They use a soft pull for the prequalification process and a hard pull for the final determination.) While they are known for giving out cards readily, they aren't always known for giving out credit increases quickly, frequently, or even at all! (They have a program which they call 'credit steps.' It is really only one credit step after the 5th or 6th month and there have been some people who never got another limit increase in 10 or more years. These people may have even gotten many other cards in that time frame with limits 20 times what Capital One gave them. Just be aware of it before you do it.)

You could get a secured card from your bank or credit union. Merrick offers a card with a fairly good interest rate and a reasonable annual fee. Some graduate into unsecure cards at some point, others might not. Just ask before you get it. Also you should sign up for a free service like Credit Karma and use their useful advice about improving your credit and their credit card reviews. It helped me improve my score about 40 points in the last year and a half!

Good Luck

What is the best first credit card?

Capital one has a card for building credit. I have one and so do many others I know.
Have never had a problem with them in 3 years

Something else everyone can do. Take a paycheck to the bank and buy a CD. Then see a loan officer and take out a secured loan against the CD. The minimum amount is usually from $500 to $1000 for 12 months.

This is exactly how I started. I recommended the same for my kids and many other friends and family. You get a very low interest loan plus earn interest on the CD and you still have the money when the loan is paid back. The payments are reported to the credit bureaus which helps build your credit.

Talk to your bank about this.

What's the Best way to Build Credit?

In order to know how to build credit, you should understand what makes up your score:

1. Payment history- 35%
2. Total debt owed to available credit ratio-30%
3. Length of time establishing credit-15%
4. Types of credit established-10%
5. Inquiries and New accounts-10%

To be honest, either way will work the same. As you can see, #1, is the most important. It doesn't matter how much or how often you purchase, it's how well you pay that matters most, which in either case, paying the balance in full build credit.
