Will this bird ever talk (Indian Ringneck Parakeet)?

i dont own an indian ringneck parakeet but i do know some info on them. Indian Ringnecks can talk.... it just takes ALOT of work. It doesn't matter how old she is, if you put in the time and effort you will see results. I think those are just common noises birds make. my parakeet made them when i had her.

Will my indian ringneck parrot talk?

I have had him since he was 9 weeks old and now he is nearing 7 months and I do talk to him on a daily basis but he still only peeps back at me, i sometimes whistle to him and he sort of makes whistling sounds but thats about it and also when he is by himself he makes alot of different squeeky noises and whistling sounds (i can hear him in the other room) and when I come he stops. My question is that is this normal for his age or is he abit slow?

At the end of the day im still keeping him doesn't matter if he talks or not but its just something i'd like to know. I havn't tried positive reinforcement or anything like that but i'd sure like some advice on how to get him talking...

note: He is fully tame and at the moment he is molting...

kind regards

Can Indian Ringnecks Talk?

First of all if you just go him 2 days ago you need to give him so time to start trying to make him talk. Also birds don't learn to talk in 2 days it takes weeks. Give him so time and yes, he might start to talk. Just be prepared if he never learns to talk to still take good care of him.

How to train indian ring neck parrots to talk?

Most parrots learn much the same way human children learn. By hearing the words and seeing the association to those words. If you talk to your ringneck, they learn quite quickly. Start by saying good morning when you uncover her. Nite-nite when you cover the cage for the night. Things like 'cookie' when you hand them a treat etc. They learn by associating the word with a certain deed.
The more you talk to her, the more she will learn. I have found that repeating certain phrases over and over doesn't work as well as just talking to them as you would another person. It is this way that they learn what the words mean and will sometimes make up their own words for things they want to say.
Most Indian ringnecks speak quite well by the time they are 6 or 7 months old.

Will my indian ringneck learn to talk or isit too late?

Your IRN, Is still at the age that it an be taught to talk so keep on trying , they are not the best of talkers so it is a long hard job to teach them, it takes time ,patience and perseverance.

At present you say it is moulting , this is a stressful time for a bird so take care and do not startle it when playing, do you feed any green food such as Broccoli, or Sweet Corn Cob, these will help it through the moult, not forgetting Cuttle bone.

You may wonder why I am calling it IT, but unless you have had your bird DNA, tested then it is not possible to visually sex your bird till it is between 28-28 months ,it is only then that the Black /pink collar appears round the neck of a male a female does not get this.

So carry on talking you may get there quicker than you think.

Can female Indian ringnecks learn to talk?

Yes they can. You will need to repeat a single word many times, "Hello" is usually one of the first words they learn. Next is "step up", then small phrases. They are awesome birds, like all captive parrots though, they require a minimum of 30 minutes of "in your face" time every day. Read or sing to them. They can learn simple songs too. They can become plucker's when bored, make sure they are in the area that you spend most of your time. Isolating them will make them very bored and unhappy. .

How to tame a 2 year old indian ringneck quickly?

I agree, don't rush things. and the best way to try to start and tame him is in his cage. This is where he clearly feels the safest. Start by just opening the door and sitting there talking to him. Don't stick your hands in the cage this could make him feel frightened and he may bite. Be patient with him and let him tell you when he is ready. He should start coming to the opening by himself, just let him sit there so you can build trust with him. The first thing you should try teaching him after he does this, is to step up. As for talking... Start with somethign like pretty bird, or hello.. My bird started with pretty bird i repetitively said it to him he is a cockatiel and quickly picked it up.. other things that he picked up and chose to mimic were: Here kitty kitty, goodmorning, what are you doin, give me a kiss (with the mwaa sound) and he whistles if your happy and you know it, and the andy griffith theme song.. remember be patient, getting him just hand tamed could take a few weeks but don't give up on him or get frustrated. hope this helps.
