Can A Magnetic Field Have A Reflection Or Echo

Can electromagnetic waves be deflected by an electric or a magnetic field?

EM waves are formed by electric and magnetic fields but are not deflectedby them. ... And also they can bedeflected by gravitational field.... Light (electromagnetic wave) has an electric and a magnetic field and should thusdeflect a compass needle during daytime.Visible light - Being an Electromagnetic wave is reflected by glass (take mirror). Would all other waves in the electromagnetic spectrum be reflected in the same way by our simple mirror... For highly intense X-Rays & gamma rays, take that the mirror is more stronger such that it could resist for at least 30 seconds.

How do I reflect the magnetic field by using materials?

I take one simple example. Suppose you are visiting a city and you reach a point where many streets start stretching in different directions. Which way would you like or decide to cross? Obviously you would like to deflect your path in a direction leading to a street where you have some attraction like your friends reside as they would entertain you also. Same is true for magnetic lines of force. There are materials(like soft iron) which possess high magnetic permiability and the lines of force now get “attracted” towards this material and tend to cross and crowd it.Use of soft iron core in electrical measurement analog devices like galvanometer, ammeter, and voltmeter are examples using soft iron core. Another possible way could be to apply external magnetic field in such a way that it would disturb existing magnetic field (so that the magnetic lines of force repel each other and therefore the original path of the lines shift.

Can magnetic fields be reflected/deflected? If so, how?

Cannot be reflected, or actually deflected. It follows a path, and can adjust by flowing through another path if that path can conduct it, such as steel or another magnetic. That is a kind of deflection though.

Can magnets reflect off a surface like light?

If you drop a magnet toward another magnet, they will either or attract or repel at first, depending on orientations of the poles.  Even if they first repel, the dropped magnet will rotate until they attract.  They don't reflect unless a magnet is dropped toward a superconducting magnet.  In the latter case the dropped magnet will be repelled, no matter what its orientation.  then it will bounce a bit and become suspended about the superconducting magnet, or it will slide off to one side.If you are asking about magnetic fields, the answer is that they go through anything except for a superconductor and don't reflect.  In the case of the superconducting magnet I mentioned, the magnetic field of the dropped magnet can't penetrate into the other magnet.

What are the differences between deflect and reflect?

There is more than one definition for each word, but in general you’ll want to use deflect when you mean “avoid” and reflect when you mean “bounce”. The shady politician deflected the media’s probing questions. The light reflected off of the mirror and got me right in the eyes. To say reflect usually implies that the thing is going somewhere. So if that politician had reflected the questions, it would mean he or she is then asking someone (the reporter or someone else) those same questions. Usually that’s not the usage that’s called for. (But it could be! Reporter: Senator! What do you have to say about your alleged affair!? Senator: No, what do YOU have to say about my alleged affair? No comment. Now he’s deflecting by reflecting!)

Physics Question?

A cowboy stands on horizontal ground between two parallel vertical cliffs. He is not midway between the cliffs. He fires a shot and hears its echoes. The second echo arrives 2.39 s after the first and 1.42 s before the third. Consider only the sound traveling parallel to the ground and reflecting from the cliffs. Take the speed of sound as 340 m/s.

(a) What is the distance between the cliffs?
_____ m

(b) If he can hear a fourth echo, how long after the third echo does it arrive?
_____ s
