Can A Ps3 Slim Ylod Be Permanently Fixed

Can the intercooler avoid the PS3 YLOD?

Ok, so my uncle let my borrow his PS3; while he fixes the YLOD (yellow light of death) on my other PS3 [which I actually hope doesn't happen, because that PS3 sucked *no wireless internet* and I kind of like, don't want it back]. But anyway, the yellow light of death happens due to some poor ventilation and overheating, am I correct?

So, if that's the case, will buying an intercooler for PS3 OR leaving a table fan on next to it's back vents get me to permanently avoid the yellow light of death?

The PS3 that my uncle let me borrow, is the same model. Other than the fact that it has that silver-looking stripe and wireless-enabled internet connection on it. And I know that model also gets YLODs, and I don't want to end up getting another YLOD and have my uncle go off on me because I broke his last working non-hacked PS3!

PS3 YLOD possible fix?

open it all up but before you do this you need a Phillips screwdriver and thermal compound once you open it all up you will reach the circut board on the circut board there are 2 CPU's take all the old thermal compound off it and add the new one you have on both and let it cool down for at least a day

hope this helped you

Does the hair drier on the PS3 work to fix the YLOD?

The PS3 YLOD is due to overheating. This overheating causes a computer chip (CPU or GPU) to loose contact with the motherboard. Now, to fix this problem, you must re-flow the solder between the chips and the motherboard. A hair dryer simply will NOT get hot enough to re-flow the solder. The hair dryer trick will probably work for a couple of days, but that is it. Believe me, I have tried the hair dryer fix. Now if you are serious in fixing the YLOD, I would recommend that you purchase a repair guide. With a repair guide you can gain instant access, and perform the fix in about an hour. The repair guide eliminates the risk of repairing your console by yourself. For just $30, you gain access to a reliable fix that LASTS. For a review of the repair guide that I have personally used, and to gain more information pertaining to the YLOD visit my site: http://gamingconsolefix.com/.

PS3 YLOD Problem after Gilksy method?

My PS3 had YLOD, I fixed it using gilksy's method. About 2 days later it has it again except if I keep trying to turn it on it eventually does. Sometimes it also turns itself off randomly. Do I have to do Gilksy's method again or is there something else wrong with my PS3? Thank you for amswering.

Does ps3 hdd 7400rpm increase chance of ylod? or more issues with it or it is just the same as 5400rpm please help?

It spins faster, and thus generates more heat. It will work in your ps3, but the ps3 wasn't designed.to take on the heat load of a drive spinning that fast.

Also, those faster spinning drives were meant for pc use, which accesses the hdd sporadically, as opposed to the ps3, which accesses it constantly when playing games. This can cause the bearings to wear out quicker which will lead to hard drive failure.

Lastly, a faster spinning hdd has absolutely no effect on loading times whatsoever in the ps3, so your better off getting the 5400 rpm drives, they're usually cheaper anyway

Ps3 YLOD??? PLEASE HELP?

Well I hate to disappoint you but THERE IS NO FIX....PERIOD!!! The simple fact is, it is your fault it happened and I'll tell you why. The ONLY way it will ever YLOD is because poor ventilation caused the reality synthesizer chipset to overheat and go into a catastrophic meltdown...WHICH IS PERMANENT!!! You ever try to "un-melt" a chip? I can guarantee it was caused by either
A.) poor ventilation because you didn't place it in an open enough space (a bare minimum of 5-10 inches on all sides except the bottom).
B.) You were negligent and didn't clean your system often enough (I clean mine once a month).
C.) Both of the above
You will not get anything on the hdd back so I hope you backed up your stuff often. If you had a disk inside then make sure to tell Sony when you send it in so they will send it back with your refurb or buy you a new copy. Hopefully you will take better care of your next system.

Is YLOD in ps3 repairable?

Mine PS3 40GB got YLOD, 3 weeks ago.
I called Sony and they said they don't fix the old original PS3's (FAT). But in return you need to pay 99€ and they give you a PS3 Slim. And don't forget the shipping costs.

At you YouTube, you see a tons of videos that people are using a heat gun/hairdryer at the back of the vents to fix the YLOD. Don't do this because you will deform all the plastic around the fan ... . The best thing to do to fix your PS3 is scraping the old thermal paste off with alcohol and heat the GPU/CPU with an heat gun for around 15 minutes but blast the heat in different direction or else you screw up your CPU/GPU. After the heating you need to apply Arctic Silver 5.

But this fix is only permanent (2-4 weeks). After the fix make AS SOON AS POSSIBLE A BACKUP OF YOUR PS3.

Yellow light of death, Ps3, Will removing cover an doing a full cleanout...?

the cause already did the damage. getting rid of the cause too late will not undo the damage. what you were asking is like this: an LCD TV was soaked in water and got busted because it's dripping in your room. repairing your roof will not fix the TV.

These computer repair people are not stupid to think that they can fix your PS3. You will still pay them for the service of cleaning it even if it didn't work. For all you know, they will just salvage some parts on your PS3 that you won't know about because it will still not be working when you get it back.

Ps3 cooling pad, is it good?

A PC cooling fan is useless and won't prevent your PS3 from overheating. You indicated your PS3 has already malfunctioned before (YLOD). I'm sorry to tell you that there is no permanent fix for the YLOD. It will happen again. The repair you had is only temporary. Continue to use the desk fan and make sure your data is backed up, because sooner than later, your PS3 will malfunction again.
