Can Art Majors Be Selected For Dental School

What high school classes do i need to take to become a dentist?

High school and college students who want to become dentists should take courses in biology, chemistry, physics, health, and mathematics. College undergraduates planning on applying to dental school are required to take many science courses. Because of this, some choose a major in a science, such as biology or chemistry, while others take the required science coursework while pursuing a major in another subject.

Dentistry requires diagnostic ability and manual skills. Dentists should have good visual memory, excellent judgment regarding space and shape, a high degree of manual dexterity, and scientific ability. Good business sense, self-discipline, and good communication skills are helpful for success in private practice.

All dental schools require applicants to take the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). When selecting students, schools consider scores earned on the DAT, applicants’ grade point averages, and information gathered through recommendations and interviews. Competition for admission to dental school is keen.

Dental school usually lasts 4 academic years. Studies begin with classroom instruction and laboratory work in science, including anatomy, microbiology, biochemistry, and physiology. Beginning courses in clinical sciences, including laboratory techniques, are also completed. During the last 2 years, students treat patients, usually in dental clinics, under the supervision of licensed dentists. Most dental schools award the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Others award an equivalent degree, Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

Hope this helps. =)

Which college majors should you never apply for?

This is just my opinion, so this shouldn’t be taken as advice. As a person pursuing a STEM major.. ya know something that I can use to contribute to the advancement of society I have a particular bias against the following.PhilosophyWhat the hell are you going to do with this? It is certainly an interesting topic, but as a major.. Well let’s just say you will never be working directly in your field unless you become a professor.Gender and Women’s StudiesThis major is just full of political lies and lacking in any real substance as an area of study. It is a useless degree and there are no right or wrong answers because your opinion matters in this degree, not facts or data. You also won’t get a job with this degree. I have no respect for people who waste their time with something as frivolous and idealistic as this bullshit. This is literally insulting to what an education means.10 Reasons not to major in Women's StudiesArtUnless you are literally exceptional in this field you won’t be paying back your college debt any time soon. Artistic talent is not learned, you are born with it or you are not.CommunicationsLiterally just read some fucking books instead of wasting your time and money on this degree.TheatreAgain, where are you going to work? Most actors in Hollywood started young and have connections soooo…. good luck with flipping burgers or working in an office cubical the rest of your life. There are many more, but these are the ones at the top of my head as of now.

What is an "emphasis" in regards to a college major?

There are a couple of ways this can work.

Most visual arts programs give you a Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA). So fine arts isn't the major, its the degree. The emphasis would be equivalent to a major in painting.

Another option is for the emphasis to be a concentration within your specific discipline. I've found this to be more common in graduate programs, but it can also exist in undergrad programs. Examples: A BA in History with an emphasis in Medieval History, a Masters of Public Policy with an emphasis in Health Policy, etc.

Master Esthetician or Dental Assistant?

I'm 23 and just having such a hard time trying to decide what I would like to do.

I wasted most of my time when I was at a University because I kept switching my major.

Now I've decided I either would love to become a Dental Assistant and Administrator or become a Master Esthetician.

I'm also married and the reason for these two choices are 1) I think I would enjoy both of them 2) I would like a career that I can start in right away.
Both of these options I would be graduated within a year.

Does anyone have any advice as to which one would be more steady, fun, etc.?
Any experience in one and your thoughts about the job?

Thank you sooo much!
