Can I Afford To Live On My Own

Making 19 an hour can I afford to live on my own?

Just got out military and landed a job making 19 an hour. I moved back in with my mom though until I get back on my feet well. My bills are car 350 a month insurance is 276 cell phone 115 and credit cards are about 30-50 bucks I have three. My question is at 19 an hour could I afford to live on my own? I live in Florida

How can I afford to live on my own?

Are you going to school at the moment?

I'm 21 and I'm dying to move out as well, I live in New York. I went to technical school, one of the reasons for that decision was that I wanted to be able to have a good enough job that wouldn't take so long to study for, so that I could start working and move out. Eventually I do plan on getting my degree later on... Anyway, I'm aware that the expenses in Florida and New York are different, but I think that the best thing to do is to take some time to do nothing but save up, this will help you in having some extra cash for when you do move out, it will help you in case you lose your job, have an emergency, etc.

I do hope you're studying still though, even if it is a short career like I did, you don't want to live on $8.45/hr for the rest of your life! Things will get really tough as the years go by and you start having more things to take care of with that salary.

Have you looked into a short career training? I did 4 months of patient care technician, the pay starts at $16 an hour, sometimes a little more, I've read that over in Florida that position has a good outlook as well, I'm not saying to do what I did, but definitely a good idea to be able to work at a higher paying position. If you're still in school then disregard this, stick to it, and like I said just plan yourself out, save up as much as you can, or if situations at home are getting too tough and you can't handle it anymore, you can get yourself a roommate.

Good luck,

Don't lose your patience, you'll make it!

I'm 18, will I be able to afford living on my own?

Reconcile with your dad.
Its better than being on a ramen noodle diet

I can't afford to live anymore.?

I wanted to keep my family's two family house after my father passed away 1 1/2 years ago. We bought it from my siblings. My husband works full time, makes okay money but between our high credit card debt, high mortgage and 1 son going into his 2nd year of college we have a hard time affording even food. I work part-time(10 hours a week) and 2 months ago I received another part-time job(I haven't worked in an office in16 years) it was for a small company but he thought I was not fast enough and didn't understand everything yet about both small companies. I would even leave to do my other job and return after to finish something that they gave me 10 minutes before I had to leave, but I guess they want someone perfect. We really needed this income because my husband agreed on a lot less rent for the apartment, after buying brand new appliances and letting her pick out her own colors. I am scared and I do not want to live if I can't keep my house and I can't stop crying anymore. I feel insecure, dumb and I can't do anything right even though I am one of the most honest, caring and helpful person you would ever meet. I also suffer from depression and ADD, but no medicine can fix things when it has to do financially. But I need some kind of help and don't know where to turn anymore.

How do you afford an apartment on your own?!?

I have wealthyish parents who have always paid for everything, college, clothes, phone, groceries, etc. I dropped out of college and want to make my own way. I looked up what I could make with a part-time entry-level job (bc of my health i don't think i could handle full-time) and i found out i could afford at most to pay 348/mo...but no apartments where i wanna live are available for that price...how is it done?! i wanna know what i have to do, and what kind of job i have to have, to be able to afford to live and have a safe apartment. i mean, i have an iphone right now....i don't think i could pay those bills myself. how do people do it?! i just want tips on exactly what income i need, and what all my expenses will be, what i need to do to move out on my own.
